Vanity- God is removing His Favor
Holy Spirit | 6/30/12 | VPINTHEAK

Posted on 06/30/2012 9:15:59 AM PDT by vpintheak

I don't do vanities, but I guess I do now. My wife and I were talking last night, I was complaining and she said no nation that has embraced homosexuality has stood long. This got me to thinking and meditating on His word.

Over the years, we all must admit, socialism of all stripes has taken hold of our Country. Things are getting worse. Why? We have taken God out of our daily lives. This homosexual in the military is simply one of the last strikes against God and He is removing His favor from us. All the natural disasters, the inane court rulings, the crime and blatant evil around us is a result of turning away from God.

We must Repent and pray for this nation. If we do not do that, this nation will not stand long. Possibly it will end in our lifetime, but for sure our children's. Repent and pray! That is the only way this nation will get turned around. Certainly not through politicians. God bless thru Christ Jesus, FReepers!

There were no natural disasters, inane court rulings, crimes or evil when homosexuality was illegal or abortion was illegal?

You deceive yourself.

But He does punish the collective. Your soul is saved individually, but He can make your time on Earth very bad by just removing His protection over the nation. Remember who rules this world and who protects you from him.

Wow, that sounds merciful, loving and full of grace to me. Very Old Testament.

These folks won't admit it but they've made homosexuals into convenient scapegoats for all that ills our society.

It's sophistry. It denies their personal own roles, their own personal failings, their own selfishness while having stood idly by while the culture decayed and the next generation was lead astray.

God doesn’t save the collective. God saves the individual souls.

Yes, but there's another side to that. God can't punish collectives, or nations, in the next world. He has to punish them in this world. Individuals may be saved, but during their time in this world, they're going to be hit with the punishments administered to the collective. Natural disasters, epidemics of "new" diseases (AIDS?), tyrannical political leaders, and so on.

If I get caught up in God’s punishment of mortals, I’ll just have to endure and keep the faith. The bible is full of suffering mortals who reap the eternal rewards of faith.

There is NOTHING more than that.

“God is punishing the good because some are bad?

What a load of crap.”

We all suffer for the evil of others. You don’t think there are some “good” people in North Korea? Yet they are suffering terribly. No “good” people in the gulag? No “good” people in Nigeria at their church service? Were there no “good” people in the twin towers?

Of course there are/were. But they suffer, suffer terribly, when evil men do their thing.

We are suffering (mildly, most of us) right now because of the evil of some of the people in power over us. Myself I have had an overall good life. Babies in the womb, not so much. Recipients of “assisted suicide,” no, etc. All because “some are bad.”

You make a good observation. Voters have never, that I can recall, supported legislation promoting homosexuality. For argument sake we are excluding local laws in cities like San Francisco. However, voters place legislators into power who appoint judges who ignore the will of the voters and permit laws supporting homosexual behavior. People also vote for presidents who by executive fiat implement laws forcing us to accept homosexual behavior. And, these same legislators pass laws making defining our objections to this lifestyle as hate speech. Even though Christians can be called anything and it’s considered by these legislators as free speech.

Finally, how much of the Christian vote did obama get in 2008? It was significant given his hostel record towards us.

The Old Testament God is the same as the New Testament God. He just gave us a means of grace in the form of Jesus. He still doesn’t like being told that worship has to fit in between the morning jog and kickoff. A big part of our problem is that we’ve convinced ourselves that God exists to serve us. A father can still love you and take you to the woodshed from time to time.

Let’s tell the full truth here. ‘We’ did not erase religious freedom from the constitution, the socialist elitists did. ‘We’ did not cleanse the Christian based culture of America, the socialist elitists did. ‘We’ did not ban prayer in schools, the courts did. ‘We’ did not find the right to murder babies in the constitution, the socialist elitists did. Since I was a child ‘we’ have fought against all this.

In truth, Christian Americans have been the victims of targeted and systematic cultural cleansing by people in high places. The only real power we had to derail this horror show was civil war. Should we have committed civil war in the name of God...And if we did and we wiped out the socialists, you would blame ‘we’ for that sin.

God will handle this conquerer of Christians because it is stinking to high heaven. At this point, pray for His protection and guidance of Christians. Serve the protection of persecuted Christans because it is going to get dang ugly real soon when Obamacare implements it’s mandated microchips and no one can do any business without a chip.

Hebrews 12:4-8 And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh to you as children, My son, despise thou not the chastening of the Lord nor faint when thou art rebuked of Him: For whom the Lord loveth,He chasteneth and scourgeth every son whom He receiveth.

Our Father is a real “hands on” teacher. Those who refuse to learn pay the price.

Well, I grew up in a Christian family, went to Christian schools, am a leaders of youth in my Church, and am the council chair of mychurch. I also have a history degree. I know a couple things. I do however blow off steam here at Free Republic.

I personally am Blessed and know Who I owe it to. This Country however is not being blessed currently and hasn’t been for a while. Pray, repent, and beg the Lord to have mercy upon us all. Our children need it!

I agree. It is not the most well-written book I have ever read, but it is interesting how our circumstances parallel scriptures regarding Israel.

This IS the judgement of God.. Read Romans 1... He has given us over for judgement , he has placed us under the rule of those that hate the gospel...

Psa 106:41 And he gave them into the hand of the heathen; and they that hated them ruled over them.

Jesus talked about judgment and hell extensively. His birth and atoning sacrifice were not random thoughts of God a couple of thousand years ago, but a plan from the beginning for sinners in need of a savior.

Israel, after Jesus died, went through terrible times but God saved a remnant who miraculously returned there. God judged Israel for their idolatry and their failure to recognize Jesus as the awaited Messiah. Christians who believed in Jesus as Lord and Messiah went through the same circumstances.

The threads of judgment and mercy run through both Old and New Testaments. If you study both, you will be blessed and amazed at how much Jesus, God’s mercy, God’s judgment and the need for atonement show up.

God speaks often of the nations - at this point as a nation, we are defying God, we are idolaters, we are murdering innocent children and considering doing so to helpless elderly, have allowed homosexuality to become acceptable, have many apostate churches.

God talks about the nations many times in scripture. Like all those before us, we are subject to His mercy and His judgement, in the time of His choosing.

I agree. The last time we enjoyed good national prosperity was when there was a change of heart among many in this nation. We were blessed with a president {Reagan} who had both the wisdom and courage to stand up for traditional values against all odds. The turning toward GOD as a nation came about via a group called The Moral Majority.

In 1989 those with a destructive agenda for this nation regained political power and have maintained it ever since. Today the GOP is competing for the Sodom and Gomorrah vote with the DEMs. I can not and I will not be an enabler to it.

Maybe I’ve missed something along the way - Could you show me one example of the people voting for homosexuality? I’ve seen fiat decisions by representatives and plenty by the courts, as well as executive declarations, but the people, when asked, have uniformly rejected homosexuality time and time again

If your senator, governor, congressman, mayor, state lawmakers support gay marriage and you vote for them knowing this then you are as much to blame as they. Many will indeed vote for leaders who support Homosexuality. Our two top contenders for President both supported gay marriage.

It saddens me that even the so called staunch conservatives are also OK with it. For example the Cheneys. I could not and I would not say I am proud my child married the same sex. I would have to say that is not the values we taught the person. Sometimes doing right before GOD means taking some tough and unpopular positions even ones that cause you pain for doing so.

I haven't read it. But The Bible is clear on what happens to nations when they turn away from GOD. Evil leaders and masters are just the beginning of the fall. Yes we are definitely close to the point of having a Master/Slave relationship with our elected leaders {which shows our moral poverty in itself} and they are quickly becoming our masters. Thursday decision made that a very real possibility.Ironically The Gospel will likely once again take off like wildfire only after it has become prohibited by our masters.

In a way, we each have to have our own "passenger on a highjacked plane" moment.

One where we realize that the people in charge can't or won't do anything to stop what is happening, so to save ourselves, we have to get together and do it ourselves.

Let's roll!

I agree the literary style is lacking.

However the metaphor is undeniable and sobering,

right down to the verse number: Isaiah 9:11.

Read on through Isaiah 9:21 for prophesy.
