Posted on 06/30/2012 9:15:59 AM PDT by vpintheak
I don't do vanities, but I guess I do now. My wife and I were talking last night, I was complaining and she said no nation that has embraced homosexuality has stood long. This got me to thinking and meditating on His word.
Over the years, we all must admit, socialism of all stripes has taken hold of our Country. Things are getting worse. Why? We have taken God out of our daily lives. This homosexual in the military is simply one of the last strikes against God and He is removing His favor from us. All the natural disasters, the inane court rulings, the crime and blatant evil around us is a result of turning away from God.
We must Repent and pray for this nation. If we do not do that, this nation will not stand long. Possibly it will end in our lifetime, but for sure our children's. Repent and pray! That is the only way this nation will get turned around. Certainly not through politicians. God bless thru Christ Jesus, FReepers!
I was just thinking about the horrendous storms pounding DC now, in light of the week we just witnessed there.
God doesn’t save the collective. God saves the individual souls.
I agree completely. I have known this for quite some time and it all boils down to idolatry. We raise up idols in the form of objects, celebrities, sports teams and they all take precedence over God. How many people skip church because they need to be at the game by 1 pm? Or they have a conflicting tee time? How many know that homosexuality is bad, but are swayed by a celebrity? We have so many golden idols that we’re blinded by them. We even fill our churches with them. We make a large donation to buy a piano and we expect to have a plaque placed in a prominent place dedicating it our dead grandma, but everyone know where the money came from, right?
Israel worshipped idols and God punished them for it over and over again. We certainly aren’t any better than they were, and we don’t deserve any more second chances than they deserved.
>>God doesnt save the collective. God saves the individual souls.
But He does punish the collective. Your soul is saved individually, but He can make your time on Earth very bad by just removing His protection over the nation. Remember who rules this world and who protects you from him. Obama is obeying his master, but too mamy of us only obey ours for a hour a week.
Try over a million babies a year. About 50 million since Roe was invented.
The drought of good, sound Biblical preaching in our churches is one of the signs of a nation under God’s judgement...and that has been true for a long time.
When the church of God is strong the nation is strong.
When the church of God is weak and compromising the nation suffers.
I disagree. God was instrumental and front and center before we became a nation. The Constitution was not ratified until Ben Franklin stood up a reminded people of His role in this Country. God saved America fromEnglish rule. Even those who fought for the crown.
When the people of a nation draw near to God there is freedom, when the people of a nation fall away from God there is Tyrany.
God is punishing the good because some are bad?
What a load of crap.
Maybe I’ve missed something along the way - Could you show me one example of the people voting for homosexuality? I’ve seen fiat decisions by representatives and plenty by the courts, as well as executive declarations, but the people, when asked, have uniformly rejected homosexuality time and time again.
Why do people who write things like this always use the word "we"? We have taken God out of our daily lives? Oh really?
What you really mean is "they," so use that word. Don't ask me to take on the guilt of others. And don't you dare you suggest that God is going to punish the faithful for the sins of a minority.
By the way, if you think this country is faithless, you haven't traveled much. We're one of the last bastions of faith in the world, and God isn't through with us yet. To suggest otherwise is truly being faithless.
I couldn't help but think the same thing. Since our founding, God has watched over this nation with special care and attention. And I know that this week, we were a bitter disappointment to Him. I pray that we can be restored to His favor.
There’s nothing I can do to change how he feels about America. I know that I’ll be OK no matter what suffering is imposed on America or myself personally.
You must be very proud.
Red Herring. Not the issue. We are talking about graces to the living.
First, there is no good except from God. Second, these trials, as much as I hate them, are required to increase our reliance on Him. I urge you to dust off your Bible if you have one and begin to read.
Your title is about God “removing His favor”. I suppose another way of saying it is that He has given up the country to depravity (homo). Regardless of the votes of the people, the homo-promo agenda is advancing full steam due to courts, etc.
While we obviously cannot read the mind of the Good Lord I would not be surprised if he withdrew. The rot that has overtaken this country and its people in my life time is hard to believe.
I understand where you are coming from. I’ve had these same thoughts for a while now. In fact, I’ve gone so far as to wonder just how long He is going to put up with us as a nation. Fortunately I know my future is secure no matter what comes.
I watch this program called Wretched in the middle of the
night everyday M-F. The host (Todd Friel) was saying the
same thing. This makes me pray for the grace to accept
God’s will and to not be depressed about how vile and low
the nation’s leaders have become.
Children were being involved in the depravity of Sodom and Gomorrah, and look how that turned out.
God started to remove His Hand of GRACE from our country after ABORTION was made legal and 45-50 MILLION BABIES have been killed, the Homosexuality has been HONORED and REWARDED and almost DEIFIED, and in the mean time we have ALLOWED God and Jesus to be KICKED OUT OF THIS COUNTRY.....what does one expect?????
Idols? There are not many churches where the government is not worshipped. The vast majority of Christians look to the government to meet their needs, solve their problems and provide their security.
I need to strive to get to where you are. To accept what God has planned for me and not worry obsess over the imminent tyranny.
butting in here, but when one VOTES for Reps and Sens. that are PRO-GAY and PRO-ABORTION especially ONE IS VOTING for that crap because you KNOW how they will vote.
I think some of the phrasing going on in this thread is problematic (not blaming anyone, just saying).
Punishment and discipline/correction are 2 different things. God’s punishment for sin/wrong-doing is final, permanent, eternal. He has meted out the punishment for sin on His Son so that those who deserve it, can, by faith, appropriate God’s unmerited favor, grace. That’s the gospel. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you have your sin and its consequence removed. Reject God’s way of salvation and the penalty for your sin remains, awaiting you at the judgment seat.
God’s chastening is, as you’ve remarked, for our benefit, that we might draw closer to Him, worship Him, serve Him. “Whom the Father loves, He chastens.” One of the things that Christians need to remind themselves of again and again, myself included—I’ve been engaging (and perhaps, too strongly) in the verbal banter over the Supreme Court’s decision this week, is that this is not our home, this is not our life. The Bible tells us, “your life is hid in Christ...” and, “...Christ, who is our life...”) etc. We tend to forget that whatever befalls us here is under the watchful eye of God. If it be He calls you to martyrdom, ask for the grace to endure it. If it be He calls you to endure, ask for the grace to endure. If it be He calls you to prosper, ask for the grace to live graciously, selflessly, humbly. The Christian needs to remember this life, these 70 - 80 years, with their disappointments, sorrows, sadness, suffering, are not to be compared to the glory which shall follow.
Now, as to His removing His hand of protection from America, I see it like this: we are living in the day of His grace. Whosoever will may come. Whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life. All can come to Christ, but not all do. That being said, there is a concerted effort to rise up against the things of God and Christ going on today INCLUDING IN OUR OWN COUNTRY which, for all intents and purposes, pushes the hand of God’s grace away. His grace has been cast out of our schools, out of our public discourse, and, sadly, out of our churches. America is no longer a humble, but a proud people. God resists the proud. America is no longer a just people. God hates injustice. America is no longer a God-fearing people. Love of this world is enmity with God.
We are witnessing God’s grace experiencing diminished returns on a national scale. But God is still gracious and kind to those who love His Son.
Thou shalt in any wise set him king over thee, whom the LORD thy God shall choose; one from among thy brethren shalt thou set king over thee; thou mayest not set a STRANGER over thee, which is NOT thy BROTHER. (cap emphasis-mine.)
(kinda sums up Barry, Little Stevie Dunham, Barry Soetoro, Barry Obama, Barak Hussein Obama...the guy we know so little about, except his moslem faith.)
Let’s not forget, Bath-House Barry supports infanticide, as well as being America’s first HOMOPOTUS.
We've always been under assault, that's the nature of the world and of humans, but we all have and have always had the ultimate weapon.
When we chose to turn away, and when we began to embrace what was to be shunned, we broke the deal and the protection and grace we as a nation enjoyed was removed.
That's when things really began to accelerate downhill.
There are rules to this world and consequences to our choices. We are choosing to break them and are flaunting it.
Fortunately, we are loved and are being shown warning signs, harbingers, if you will, as in Isaiah 9:10.
These are the wake up calls from the front desk and we slept through the first few.
The question before us is whether or not we wake up enough to answer it now or die in our sleep.
Thank you. You much more elequently put together what I was trying to express. God Bless!
As the saying goes — Obama happens.
I haven’t seen that show. But thank God for my wife who reminds me of that fact every time I start to complain too much!
I believe He began to lift His hand of Grace eleven years earlier when this nation kicked Him out of our children's classrooms...
I was thinking that also.
And where was 0 when this happened, not in DCone never knows how the devil's mind works.
If God has anything to do with this, and I believe HE does, it has been pre-determined.
We need some prospective here. The disasters we’ve seen recently don’t even measure up to some doozies when we were supposedly a more moral society. Anyone remember The Depression? The Civil War? The Galveston Hurricane? 9-11? There has been massive death and devastation before in this country and, when it came, it destroyed the godless and the godly alike (in this world, that is).
The Bible teaches that God judges nations and it also teaches that individual souls are saved however that doesn’t guarantee His people protection from His wrath or the evil of others, only that our souls do not die.
Some of the greatest men in the Bible suffered terribly both for their own sin and for the cause of the gospel. To believe God promises us an easy life is to be terribly ignorant of His word and His plan.
I do not know if the recent disasters are direct judgements from God. I do know that they pale when compared to the judgements that are to come and we may be seeing the first early signs as a call for repentance as a nation.
My personal belief is that God created time and God is not ruled by time. The entire history of the planet is like a snapshot in His eye which is how we can have both free will and predestination because God already knows all that has happened and will happen because he is beyond this time and has executed His plan, much as the characters in a drama don’t know what awaits them but the Scriptwriter already knows and has already planned the results.
Our jobs are to live, as best we can, sharing the love of Christ and leading others to Christ. That’s it. We can’t control our nation and we can’t control what disasters arise. We can pray for His mercy and His forgiveness but we should not expect that we will escape punishment in this life nor that we won’t suffer the consequences because of the sins of those that lead us.
God has His plan and He is faithful to complete it, whether we individually choose to participate or not. Yet the more we respond in faith, the more we will see His hand in motion. May God bless this nation for as long as it lives.
“The propitious smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right which Heaven itself hath ordained.”
From George Washington’s first inaugural address at Federal Hall in New York.
As if there had never been any severe thunderstorms during a summer heat wave in the mid-Atlantic ever before yesterday. /sarcasm.
Now if a severe thunderstorm and suddenly appeared on a cool sunny day and only over the White House and Supreme Court building alone, pounding only those buildings with bolts of lightning, high winds and hail, you and other Rath of God theorists might be on to something.
Otherwise, think about all the damage over a widespread area not limited to the White House or Supreme Court building. Think about all the good hard working, some of them God fearing people without power and some with trees crashed down on their houses. Yea, that serves them all right, even the people who had nothing to do with, some who probably even opposed the SCOTUS ruling. Yea, that will teach em good.
Ive lived in this area all my life and have seen my share of severe T-storms this time of year. Its to be expected. While severe, its not at all unusual.
Lots of people thinking, worrying about what you are thinking. Here’s a post I did this morning (got a little worked up on the subject):
Just as if your spouse committed murder and was caught and jailed, you would escape the final judgment but you would NOT escape the consequences of your spouses actions.
I do NOT repent for my nation. I repeat. I do NOT repent for my nation. Screw collective guilt. I repent for my own personal sins.
This reminds me of this old joke.
A city is experiencing a terrible flood. A man is sitting on his front porch watching the water rise and a jeep drives up. Get in! Everythings going to be underwater! No thanks. God will save me. An hour passes and the water Has risen in the house. A boat comes by. Get in! Youre going to drown! No thanks. God will save me. The water rises over the house. The man is now on the roof. A helicopter flies overhead. Well lower a line. Grab it or youll die! No thanks. God will save me. The man drowns. When he gets to Heaven and meets God he says, God! Why didnt you save me?!
I sent a jeep, a boat, and a helicopter. What more did you want?
We have the ballot box. We have the tools to fix our country. It's not fixed because the majority of people, including freepers, are either lazy, unorganized, or have the political knowledge to fix it. It's our job to do it and it takes hard work with our God given abilities and free will. Complaining on the internet won't get the job done.
Yes. There comes a second.
America has become worse than Sodom and Gemorrah and the 0bama regime is working tirelessly to remove GOD from Our Country, so why should anyone think that GOD would continue to Bless America?
We are only one God inspired plasma storm away from being turned back to the stone age. IT’S COMING and WE DESERVE IT when it comes.
God have mercy on your children who call You by name.
amen and AMEN
God causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous (Matthew 5:45).
...the living God...has shown kindness by giving you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons; he provides you with plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy (Acts 14:15-17).
The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth...he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else. From one man he made all the nations...so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. For in him we live and move and have our being. As some of your own poets have said, We are his offspring.' (Acts 17:24-28)
The soul who sins is the one who will die. The son will not share the guilt of the father, nor will the father share the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous man will be credited to him, and the wickedness of the wicked will be charged against him.
But if a wicked man turns away from all the sins he has committed and keeps all my decrees and does what is just and right, he will surely live; he will not die. None of the offenses he has committed will be remembered against him. Because of the righteous things he has done, he will live. Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign Lord. Rather, am I not pleased when they turn from their ways and live?" (Ezekiel 18:19-23)
For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say No to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hopethe glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good. (Titus 2:11-14)
Jesus told them another parable: The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away. When the wheat sprouted and formed heads, then the weeds also appeared.
The owners servants came to him and said, Sir, didnt you sow good seed in your field? Where then did the weeds come from?
An enemy did this, he replied.
The servants asked him, Do you want us to go and pull them up?
No, he answered, because while you are pulling the weeds, you may root up the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn. (Matthew 13:24-29)
The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels.
As the weeds are pulled up and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the age. The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. (Matthew 13:36-43)
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. (2 Peter 3:9-11)
God is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels. He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the majesty of his power on the day he comes to be glorified in his holy people and to be marveled at among all those who have believed. (II Thessalonians 1:6-10)
