“Gay” is a word that came out of the slang of homosexuals and established itself as a noun and an adjective meaning primarily “male homosexual” but also on occasion “female homosexual” in which case it becomes a synonym for “lesbian.” You can’t blame them for wanting a short term in general use in place of a five-syllable tongue-twister. The problem is that they misspelled the word. The correct spelling is “gey.” It will take some time since there are no immortals (as in France) out there ready to issue a proclamation from above but “gey” will eventually appear and entirely supplant “gay.” The issue is unambiguity.

Why not; gay used to be a word that described a happy person or a man that was a bit of a rounder, such as “Gay Blade”.
The fags appropriated the word and it can’t be used to describe any thing other than a pervert now days.
Let them adopt the word GEY for their own use, they will still be nothing more than perverts and filthy effing AIDS carriers any way.

I still use the word “queer”. It means, odd, different, not normal and it describes them to a t.

I’ve seen it spelled “ghey” on the boards. I’ve also seen it spelled “gax”, in combination with “sucks” spelled “sux”, as in, let’s say, “X is sux and gax”.
The “carefree” definition of the wordcomes from the fact that there is no “worry” about pregnancy in homosexual relationships.
Correct, it was the adjective and noun that I heard exclusively when I was growing up, and I wish that Freepers would drop "gay" and use "queer." It does describe them and what they do.
The trouble is, if you spell the word “gey,” people will likely pronounce it “ghee.” Ghee is liquified butter, widely used in subcontinental cookery, so another good word would be ruined, as was the word “gay.”
We don’t have to cooperate with their agenda or their verbage. It has to start somewhere. I haven’t used the word “gay” to describe a homosexual in quite a while and now I cringe when I see or hear it used. My sister’s name is Gay and she was named that way back in the 1940s when Gay meant happy. Now the young kids giggle when they read a story or hear an older song with the term “gay” being used in its proper form.
If everyone here on FR would use the term homosexual or queer or something else, encourage as many people that they can, it would go a long way in stopping this misuse of the word.
IMO, “GAG” describes their perverted lifestyle.
