My brother-in-law is supposed to go over there in mid-August. Was a navy officer/pilot for a lot of years, doing sub patrols off the coast of Iceland. He’s in the reserves now and they decided to call him up for a year in Afghanistan. My sister is thinking it’ll just be a desk job but I don’t know if anywhere is actually safe over there.

A friend of mine has done spec ops in various places including Iraq and has seen a lot of the Middle and Far East. He actually spoke to our church about what he saw. One of the things he said is that a lot of places lack basic sanitation and they smell really bad.
I looked at the pics in your profile; looks like you’ve got a lot to look forward to when you come home. I really hope we can keep America the land of the free and the home of the brave. I don’t want this country to be “radically transformed” into just another world stinkhole.
We’re half a world apart but fighting the same war. Please let the guys over there know we’re fighting alongside them, just in a different theater.
