After 2010, the numbers were crunched, and it was clear that Obama and the Democrats could not win a mainstream campaign. Instead, they targeted narrow groups, stirred up conflicts over issues aimed at that group, whether it was union pensions, racism or birth control. There was no more pretense of a national election, only a frenzied rush to polarize as many groups as possible and join them together into an acrimonious coalition, not so much for anything, as against Republicans.

This excellent analysis must be passed along the internet from coast to coast. The Left is scared spitless that Americans might be catching on to Obama’s divide and conquer campaign.

My fear of Romney is that is he pro-socialized medicine, pro-abortion, pro-homosexual marriage, pro-big government, and anti-second amendment.

Romney understands that much of his base shares these fears, and so he is running to the right on all of this issues. His rhetoric has improved, but one wonders if his core values have improved.

What would happen if Romney truly ran on his record? "Look at what I've done! I brought homosexual marriage to the first state in the union! I'm pro-abortion! I invented Government health Care! If you like Democrat principles, vote for me! If you wanted to vote for Anyone But Obama, vote for me! I'm not the scary, divisive, anti-American guy with the questionable background! Bring America together by throwing Obama out and bringing in some sound Democrat values!!"

Romney might win on a platform like that. He could run as an Al Gore/Mike Dukakis/Walter Mondale Democrat.
I'm not at all sure that Romney will win on the rhetoric he's using now.

Excellent article. This is a message that needs to sweep this nation. The only way I can think of now is for the Patriots, who still love this nation, to get articles like this out to the general public via e-mail, Facebook, Twitter..... or however we need to do it.

I’ve got to believe that there are more sensible people in America than there are Kool-Aid drinking libs. They’re just politically lazy and not up-to-speed on just how dangerous Barack Obama and the leftist are.

What they believe is that Obama will grant their group more special privileges and the rest of the country can go to hell.

There isn't any inspiration here. Just paranoia over everything from gay marriage to abortion to racial profiling to illegal immigration. A dozen illegal benefits being handed out with the explicit threat that they will be lost if Romney wins. A dozen mini-civil wars being stirred up to divide Americans and set them at each other's throats for the benefit of the Obama campaign.

Know thine enemy.

He has been the President of ... Bill Gates...

This is the part I don't get. Unlike those other guys, Gates built MS from the ground up by the sweat of his own brow and the work of his own hands making products that people bought with their own money in a free market transaction (ok back before they became an all controlling monopolistic evil empire). Maybe the problem is that to be a megabillionaire you have to be a statist.

Limousin liberalism must be a disease. The ink from all those federal reserve notes creates some sort of variant of mad cow disease.

My fear of Romney is that is he pro-socialized medicine

While I strongly believe in free market economics, the problem with Obama care is not that it is socialized medicine, but that it is crony-capitalist medicine. A lot of folks are getting paid off a lot of money to do not much in particular. Even genuine euro-socialism is better.

It is an important point in this article. While we scream about socialism, the American disease is crony capitalsim. It is killing us and conservatives have to stop giving a free pass to the latter because they are afraid of the former.

I agree with that. The thing that some people call "crony capitalism" is, I think, simply Fascism. I say America today is a fascist society (and I don't mean that the way Leftists mean it: "hateful and mean"). I think our economic system, and our social contract, is now based on the notion that if you help the politicians, the politicians will help you. And if you cause trouble, then all kinds of bad things can happen to you because we've got a zillion laws to bring down on top of your head.

Back in around 1911, Hillaire Belloc wrote "The Servile State" which basically says that socialism always leads to tyranny, and that capitalism always ends up allied with government, thus leads to a form of socialism and thus to tyranny, or "the servile state". Belloc would probably say that we are all serfs under a system of fascism that was born from what was designed as a free market economy but which got corrupted by politicians helping their friends.

I believe in the free market. I just don't think we've had a free market in this country for the past 100 years or so. We've just been sliding into tyranny.

There seems to be a lack of reading comprehension skills on this board. You answer this article with a dig against Romney? Are you hoping that Obama saves you for last?

I’m not obligated to like Romney. Romney stands for everything I oppose. Obama also stands for everything I oppose. They are the same person — only Romney is prepared to move down the slope at a slower pace. You may look at Romney as “the good guy” but I cannot. I have principles.

Yes, Mike. ClearCase is feeding the alligator in the hopes it will eat him last. What he's not realizing is that he will have to watch his pals get eaten while he awaits his turn.

LOL at the comment "I have principles." I can almost see you flipping your skirt as you turn and say it.

The country is in a mess because of people like you. People abandoned their principles because they thought they could get something by doing so. Why did you do that? Why did you sell this country down the river by supporting Liberalism? Dole, Bush, McCain, Romney -- you keep supporting compassionate conservatives who push our country further and further to the Left. Why do you do that?

I just wish you would stop ruining the nation that the Founders gave to us.

And you didn't have anything to do with it, how exactly? I'll accept some blame for VOTING FOR ROSS PEROT back in 1992.

If the country is in such a mess because of people like me (hah!) then why haven't YOU PEOPLE done something about it? Why haven't you? Why do you keep failing at getting your pure conservatives elected? Huh?

You are not obligated to like Romney, if you are obligated to do anything it is to make a choice. If after reading that article you still choose to give even the smallest amount of help to Obama, then you weren’t paying attention.

Yes, you are right. Obama is operating as a fascist dictator.

ObamaCare, the Stimulus, bailouts and the takeovers of GM, Chrysler, AIG, banks ... all these are evidence that America is now ruled by a fascist dictator. The regime bundles business, banking, manufacturing, labor, energy and other interests together into easily intimidated and controlled units all under the authority a tyrant. To me that is fascism.

We, as citizens, need to unite and bundle our energies and individual talents together in an all out effort to defeat the forces of fascism.
