You may not agree with what Heinlein says here but he is speaking directly across the years to Ron Paul and his people at the Republican National Convention.

I can’t speak for Ron Paul, but my guess is that his thinking about “party” is more aligned with G. Washington’s, than with R. Heinlein’s.

>>Please explain how a senile libertarian nutjob can save the GOP.

Have you interacted with any of the RP people, say at your county and state caucuses?

I have, and have to say that TEA Party conservatives have a lot in common with them, and they bring a lot of youth and vigor to the game. We need to make common cause with them against the power-seeking non-conservative GOPe.

Yes. Unfortunately there are many of them out here.

He wants to end the Federal Reserve and his foreign policy is insane.

What part of that is conservative?

You got the first name right it’s the last name you messed up on that’s more aligned with George Noory.

"In some states the right of a person to participate in a primary may be challenged and he may then be called on to prove his right by taking an oath to support the ticket which results from such primary."

That's gotta be the most futile waste of time I can think of - asking a politician to take an oath (then expecting him to keep it).

RAH must have had an off day when he thought this up.

I didn’t say about Romney or his conservatism.

Why can’t you defend your candidate and his crank ideas?

Like I said, just my guess. Ron Paul seems to be more about principle than party and is reluctant to chase foreign entanglements, but that’s as much as I know about him. And, since I was an Art Bell fan and don’t listen to Noory that much, I bow to greater knowledge. (The weekend hosts are better.)

There is no such thing as absolute good nor absolute evil, but, on the whole, it seems to us that the absolute maximum amount of freedom for the absolute maximum number of sentient beings is a worthy objective.

Do you really think every Ron Paul supporter agrees with everything Ron Paul says?

What is conservative about the non-Federal Federal Reserve?

Heinlein was much better in the 1938 German language,
Well, he did start out as a Socialist, but he got better.

"Ron Paul may indeed be the last best hope to save the Republican Party from itself."

Just what is it about Ron Paul that makes you think he should be the standard bearer of the GOP?

I've been around a while, and most mainstream republicans have been hollering for fiscal responsibility before Wrong Paul because a congressman. However, as a typical hypocrite, Ron Paul spends earmarks as good as Barney Frank. Wrong Paul first campaigned on term limits, now he has served for decades. Wrong Paul is a "blame America first" clown. Wrong Paul frequents Truther shows like the Alex Jones show, and attracts one too many truther kooks. Of course, there is much more about Wrong Paul to dislike.

The GOP needs principled leaders, not lunatic opportunists like Wrong Paul.

No, but the other 99.9% are flat out bat-sh!t crazy. I know, I live and work among them.

Like Stalin, I too like dogs, but that doesn't stop me from condemning Stalin.

"Like I said, just my guess. Ron Paul seems to be more about principle..."

...like when he first campaigned on term limits, only to serve 3 decades.
...like when he runs on fiscal disipline, but adds earmarks to spending bills and votes against it knowing that it will pass
...like when he claims to be strong on defense, but always points to the DoD budget as bloated and blames America for the Islamic Caliphate.

Can’t remember in which book he wrote this regarding voting, but he said that every citizen should get one vote, if they were land owners, they got a 2nd vote and if they were military veterans, they got a 3rd vote.
A darned fine idea.

Thanks. I added those to the list of other good reasons why I wouldn't vote for him.

My point is not what principles Ron Paul has and which I agree with and which I don't, but that he isn't a "company man" when it comes to the republican party, such as it is.
