FReeper Marketplace? Going Galt the Right Way.
my brain | 11/09/2012 | rmdupree

Posted on 11/09/2012 5:44:02 AM PST by RMDupree

What do you all think of having JR post a FReeper Marketplace on the Home Page?

FReeper business owners could pay JR a fee (which would help with the FReepathons) and at the same time, we could choose to do business with other like-minded folks.

If you own a business, this would be a good way to advertise and get the kind of customers you really want to serve. And I, as a consumer, would know that my money is going to support a FReeper and not some Obama drone.

Another positive to this would be that if things do get bad, or if we want to "go Galt", bartering could also be an effective method of payment.

I'm all about networking at this point since I believe we need to lean on each other more than ever at this point and try to do ZERO business with anyone who supported Obama.

What say you?

But to base the premise that time is "free" means it has no value. That is not true.

Well, yes. I agree. I was speaking in a context that starves the beast. It's tax free, money free, and time is the only thing invested (which could be very flexible).

Because we're members of "Operation Frugal", it's better for us to the find time than it is to feed the monster.

Yeah, I admit that it was over the top. I shouldn’t have said that. Sorry.

We are on the same page then. Some folks don’t recognize the investment in materials, time and education in order to do the repair or prepare the tax forms is no different than the time spent to plow the field, plant the seed and harvest the grain. None of those products and services are available with the prior investment so they cannot be free

“pay JR a fee”

You’re unaware that JR advocated not voting for Romney?

As the productive class, if we keep going to work and paying our increasing taxes, why should they care? The only way they are going to pay attention is if the money stops coming in.

This is why it's such a good idea. The state budgets don't get the sales tax or service tax. The state loses money. The feds lose federal taxes from the merchant.

States will either have to take money from the feds, or cut back on programs at the state level, which is good for the tax slaves. When the economy returns, the programs will be gone - and hopefully never be allowed back.

If the state politicians try to raise state taxes to compensate, they'll lose THEIR jobs (unless they want to destroy their state like California is doing).

We can survive without the governments money, but the government can't survive without ours. When the slaves rebel - their masters starve.

I am aware. I voted for Romney because I was voting against Obama. He was not my favorite candidate in the primaries by a long shot.

I initially mentioned a fee, but later on in the thread, we discussed a free service. At the end of the day, this is Jim’s website and he makes the decisions.

Paying and complaining will make the beast grow fatter. That is what they want, and apparently that is what you are content with doing. Starving it will take too long. Bleeding it to death will be much faster.

You may be able to retire and “opt out” but most of us are still working toward that goal. I firmly believe that their plan is to keep us working until we drop, and feed the fruits of our labor to the welfare class who will keep them in power. If we stop cooperating, then maybe the people will decide to make work pay again.

For myself, I can go Galt, and have to some extent. And I will now be increasing my “Galtish” behavior with new vigor.

However, my wife has serious medical issues (so do I, actually, as I am a cancer patient, but I am in remission) and she is on oxygen. So, for her, going Galt is more difficult.

Stay squeaky clean.

Agreed. And don't do ANYTHING that would draw attention to yourself. Be a faceless person in the crowd. I work hard to be as anonymous as possible.

“unless the GOP gets some balls and looks at these resutls which do not add up and where there has been massive rigged elections”

Aren’t there around 30 GOP governors who’ve been in place AT LEAST since 2010, and many longer? They bear some responsibility by not being pro-active over the last 2+ years and putting in place measures to counter dem voter fraud. Like Kasich, for instance... did he say even one word when Somalis were taken to polling places by the busload?

“Currently, 23 states and territories have modern militias. ... these forces are distinct from the Reserves and the National Guard in that they serve no federal function. ... SDFs remain solely under the control of their governors, allowing the governors to deploy them easily and readily in the event of a natural or man-made disaster.”

“Craigslist people are not enemies of the state”

This is true, but CLers sell stuff cheap and often just give it away. How is it supporting the state to pick up a free lawn mower, fixing it, and selling it for cash?

yeah no. Your assumptions are wrong. I am at a part time job as an independent contractor, no benefits, but I would only go on the dole if my kids were hungry. I really don’t give a flying flip if I work til I die, because at least I will have my self respect. What’s the point of life anyway? To “retire” and play goff? Wrong.

I would love to post a "fixed income product" of the day for those whom need that type of securities. If you do your homework, municipal bonds will do good for some individuals that want to pay the LEAST amount of federal income tax as possible. I'm only 41, and I have a 50% muni portfolio even though I don't need the tax free coupons. I am going to strive to have a 80% fixed income portfolio that I can live off of and look forward to the day that the federal government doesn't get a damn cent.

Im also long lead, brass, silver and gold ;)

“I don’t see the IRS chasing after folks selling goods and services for online classified ads.”

The feds have a track record of selective enforement in these matters. Leftist barter currrencies (the unit of which is popularly called the “hour”) have existed for quite a while with little notice from the government. A couple of years ago, some conservative tried that in NC and wound up in prison. The IRS would be all over a freeper craiglist. It would be much better to just blend in.

Same needed here. South Lyon/Northville/Novi Michigan area. I'm a fairly decent painter (Interior) and I can do minor car maintenance (change oil/brakes/wiper blades, etc) I can also teach almost anything with marksmanship being my forte. I have lawn equipment too and I don't mind using it.

“What’s the point of life anyway?”

Well, it is certainly not to support the welfare class. If my labor cannot produce money to exchange for goods, then maybe I should just make goods.

I’ve made some statements as of late that I need to issue an apology for, specifically a staement in this thread that I made to Freeper Onyx and a statement or two that I’ve made concerning Jim and the use of finances at Free Republic. I’ve already sent an e-mail to both Jim and Onyx, but because I’ve made these statements in a public forumn, it’s only right that I also express my sincere regret for those statements publicly. It was wrong of me to say the things I said and I have apologized to both Jim and Onyx. I’ve also said to Jim that if he wishes to boot me from Free Republic, I wouldn’t blame him, nor would I have any hard feelings about it.

Sincerely,
Arcy

The entire transaction is traceable.

Why do you think Craigslist has made its ads unremovable?
