Virginian Pilot Supports Secession!?
There's an article in The Blaze 30 States Petition Federal Government to Secede After Election
Liberals often like to compare President Barack Obama to former President Abraham Lincoln. The comparison is usually dismissed as laughably hagiographical, but judging by one unexpected bit of fallout from Tuesdays election, it could well end up being accurate in just one respect: Like Lincoln, Obama is facing requests by the citizens of numerous states to secede from the union.
However, unlike with Lincoln, these requests are peaceful, and highly unlikely to do anything at all except generate news headlines. A massive number of petitions are currently circulating on Change.org, a website designed to call for action by the federal government or by private institutions on particular causes, calling for particular states to be granted permission to secede.
Nor are they confined to the usual suspects (IE the Southern States). In actuality, the mix of states asking to secede is deeply bipartisan, ranging from the deeply red (Alabama and South Carolina) to the deeply blue (New York) to the swing (Pennsylvania). Nor are the states asking to secede in any way geographically clustered. Northern states (New York), Midwestern states (Michigan), Southern states (Alabama) and Western states (Nevada) have all filed petitions of their own. Most swing states this election cycle, with the exception of Ohio, have a petition of their own, and all of them have at least 1,000 signatures, with even some of the bluest states in the union easily keeping pace with their red counterparts.
So what do Liberals think of this issue? Lets go to the reliably Liberal Virginian Pilot whose remaining staff is not particularly talented but who can, like victims of Tourette Syndrome, be depended on to tell us whats on their minds. This was the editorial cartoon they ran in the print version of the paper today.

Now if I thought of my neighbors like that I would welcome their decision to go away and leave me to my moral and intellectual superiority.
Its cartoons like this that make looking at papers like the Virginian Pilot worthwhile. Quite an insight isnt it?

The top half of Florida needs to be part of the South. I'd like to make my own version. Welfareland is what I'd call the NE.

This whole issue could be resolved quickly if truckers and railroads ceased shipping to deep blue cities and counties. How long would the freeloaders last if they weren’t being fed by the rest of the country?

Their map’s a little off. Obviously missing is Kentucy and Indiana along with a bunch of western states. A more accurate depiction for the seceding entities would be “Freedomica” and for the remaining blue areas, “Freeloadica”. Wouldn’t be much for them to freeload if it weren’t for us producers.

Liberals often like to compare President Barack Obama to former President Abraham Lincoln. Is it really, REALLY necessary to specify that Lincoln is a "former" President? Or, for that matter, that he was a President.

I don’t really care what liberals think about anything. It is liberals and their whining that is bringing this country to a lower and lower state every day. Let them ruin their own States - which they do a very good job of.

If they dislike Conservatives so much, they should welcome a quick and peaceful secession!

Me too, I'm nostalgic for the 1980's too, I miss:
"Family Ties," (wonder how Alex P. Keaton, middle aged tycoon, or even his sister take to the Obamation we have now, bet they'd be Freepin')
"A-Team" (I think we'd be telling them to move over, we'd be hidin' with you)
"Remington Steele," (we might need them sneaking around for us)
"Moonlighting," (see Steele)
"Whiz Kids," (Richie Adler hacks into computers, proves voter fraud, in hiding)
"Riptide," They lived on a boat, hightailing it to international waters, the nerd guy in cahoots with Richie Adler)
"Airwolf," (Archangel on the run from Obama, he takes String and Dom to unmarked island in Carribean and is based there, he assists the rest here. Archangel is partners with Keaton. Reported to have the "A-Team" on the payroll and is partnered with the Dukes/Hogg)
"Dukes of Hazzard," (The Dukes and Boss Hogg are forced to kiss and make up to take on the overbearing federal government and their revenooers)
"Kidd Video," (The gang makes it home from "the flip side" in their Subara BRAT. Trouble is, they accelerate almost 30 years ahead in time and wonder how far we have fallen from the Reagan era.)
"V," (Unbeknownst to us, Obama is actually a half breed alien originally intended to do The Visitor's bidding but got co-opted by George Soros and William Ayers instead)
The Crown jewel, "The Karate Kid," (Daniel Larusso joins the secret agent side with Remington Steele and Moonlighting, the last dreaded words an adversary hears is "Wax on, wax off." The Cobra Kai Dojos are a front for a secret network.)
All of these people/groups are working for Archangel and Keaton in their various ways, except for the half-breed alien Obama of course. Note, I don't accept the last season of Airwolf after Dom dies and Stringfellow Hawke retires as canon.
Enjoy! B-)
I miss the 1980's. B-(

"Riptide," They lived on a boat, hightailing it to international waters, the nerd guy in cahoots with Richie Adler) I LOVED Riptide. Joe Penny had a comic streak that was never taken advantage of after Rip Tide because he was so ruggedly handsome (which can be a disadvantage sometimes). And I loved that helicopter.

This whole issue could be resolved quickly if truckers and railroads ceased shipping to deep blue cities and counties. How long would the freeloaders last if they werent being fed by the rest of the country? This particular meme keeps resurfacing, and for the life of me, I don't see how it grabbed legs. You see these truck drivers aren't involved in some egalitarian endeavor transporting food from red areas to blue areas. No, they're working men who get paid by the mile, which they use to feed and clothe their families. The trucker is more concerned with how long he is going to last if he doesn't drive the miles than how long residents in blue states that he doesn't even know are going to last if he doesn't make the trip.
He also rightly presumes that the large corporate farms, which while only making up 2% of farms produce 2/3 of the goods, will find a way to get their products to their destinations. They're not about to commit corporate suicide to spite anyone in the blue states.

I remember the helo on "Riptide," she was called "The Screaming Mimi." It was an old Sikorsky S-55. IIRC, on one Airwolf episode, Dom had to fly an an old Sikorsky S-55 to Mexico and he finds a (then 1985) 12 year old Shannon Doherty who was a stowaway aboard.
Ah, things were saner then. B-((

Correction, the Screaming Mimi was an S-58 Sikorsky, but it seemed to be based on the S-55

Sir,
this subject thread, your response (the map) with the EBT overlay illustrating the EBT usage and the follow on responses are amazingly timely. Last week I received an email with a link to your paper titled When The Music Stops? How America's Cities May Explode In Violence.
http://westernrifleshooters.wordpress.com/2012/09/03/bracken-when-the-music-stops-how-americas-cities-may-explode-in-violence/ My background is something I would rather discuss in private but suffice to say I have forwarded this scenario to my circle of colleagues and friends who were quite interested in your thoughts and we continue to discuss this issue.
The actual trigger makes no difference, the following domino effect would be similar if the trigger is nation wide vs localized.
The further we proceed down this road of government dependence the more likely the scenario is.
I would be interested in continuing this discussion and would also encourage you to re-post the article in a separate thread to share with fellow freepers.
