Funny you should manufacture a choice between breaking the law and our very existence. Assuming we would all die unless government did something, which has never been the case, what do you imagine would happen after asteroid disintegrates? Haven’t we been in a perpetual national emergency for like 80 years to justify extraordinary policies? So, okay, if NASA watchdogs had their way we’d be dead. But would you allow them to criticize a 100 year dictatorship by NASA scientists following our great victory over the asteroid? Or would that be too nutty and extremist?

  a nasty and dangerous kook.

I was impressed with a lot of the Ron Paul fans who went to the Republican precinct meetings. It's a patriotic, mostly younger, enthusiastic liberty minded crowd. Sarah Palin has defended Ron Paul supporters and warned the GOP that they should not be marginalized. Unfortunately, a rules change pushed through during the convention has changed the way delegates are selected and shifted power from the state parties to the RNC (which could lead to a 2016 scenario with Jeb Bush conceding the election to Hillary Clinton).

About 4 million Republicans who voted in 2008 and 2010 stayed home. Estimates are that 1.5 to 2.1 million of those are libertarian-leaning Republicans.

The bilge posted in this thread along with the voter fraud in Republican primaries against Ron Paul help explain why so many stayed home.

Since libertarian Republicans are primarily focused on economics, the way to win them back would be for R's in Congress to make genuine efforts to cut spending.

The last polling data on this suggests almost 70% of “likely voters” want this to happen.

I fully expect those R's who hate libertarians will continue to push the party toward some ideally level of ideological purity.

But each time these people attack, they make it a bit harder for R's to win elections in 2014 and 2016.

I often wonder if such people are actually D's doing their best “divide and conquer” against conservatives and their would-be allies.

At the risk of having my tricornered hat and fife revoked, is the only country ever to use a nuke, and unnecessarily so, really in a moral position to forbid its possession by others? Especially when some of the ones who already have it aren’t ideal. Morality aside, we wants what we wants. Of course I’d like us to try as hard as possible to deprive Iran of nukes, short of war. But there’s the thing. I’m not willing to go to war, which is the majority opinion I think, and also Paul’s opinion.

As a side note, I think it’s an utterly absurd position we find ourselves in when we insist on screening every nation in the world for worthiness to have a particular weapon. That’s not being World Poluce, even. More like World Hall Monitor, or something. Not even the British or Roman empires had to deal with that. I’d rather have oldfashioned colonies to steal from.

Next to Romney, Ron Paul’s attack ads were the most vicious.
I’m glad to see him go.

Paul was one of five R Congressmen who voted to put fags in the military. That’s just one of his grave flaws. Then there’s the Troofer-ism, the “Muzzies would be nice if the US wasn’t mean” crapola.

As to his acolytes, your rosy colored glasses need some Rainex.

If they’d give up the legalizing every drug, legal prostitution everywhere, no holds barred porn even displayed publicly (yes, they said that on the official LP site a while ago), the entire spectrum of “gay rights” including marriage, adoption and whatever else the fags want, and kissing up to muzzies, then you might have a point. Oh, the open borders part sucks, too.

He's been a voice in the wilderness. 435 Ron Pauls in Congress and there would be no 16 trillion dollars in debt - and no IRS either. That would be enough to make me happy for a very long time... There are other issues, of course. He's against foreign aid to all countries and since we give about twice as much to Arab countries as to Israel, it's probably a plus to Israel if we ended all aid.... "the muzzies" would still be chanting "Death to America" even with Ron Paul as President.

Nonsense. He is a States Rights advocate, until states like Arizona passed strict illegal immigration laws. That he was against and outspoken about it. He is a hate America firster. He is a pot smoking lunatic.

All ad hominem attacks aside now, please name when Ron Paul favored policies that exceeded the Constitution.

But actually, other than reflection and learning, what’s the point? You’re right, Ron Paul is gone.

The Constitution should be the “platform” of the party that fights the ‘rats now and runs against the ‘rats in 2014 and 2016. Do you agree with that?

Iran agreed to not produce nuclear weapons and to avoid proliferation when it first received nuclear technology under the “Atoms for Peace” program started by President Dwight D. Eisenhower.

A war to enforce that treaty is consistent both with international law and with libertarian ideology.

One trouble is that with our draw down, we’d need to use our forces from pretty much everywhere for a serious ground offensive against Iran.

The biggest trouble though is that President Obama is uninterested in expending political capital on Iran. The President is also ideologically inclined to incorrectly see Iran as a mistreated former colony rather than a fascist state controlled by mullahs and Russian sympathizers.

Re: yes, they said that on the official LP site a while ago

Even assuming for argument the LP does all that, it would appear you can’t tell the difference between the Republican Party and the Libertarian Party.

To help clear it up, the LP is tiny and loses every time. But the Republicans just lost this year after doing okay in 2010.

Also one party’s name starts with an R, the other with an L. Both parties are also listed in Wikipedia if you need to brush up on your research.

Decisions you are making right now will help shape the election results in 2014 and 2016. If you again choose to cheat and alienate people who have been your allies since the 80’s, you should expect the next President to be Obama’s handpicked successor.

If libertarian and conservative Republicans had stood together in the past election, the R establishment never would have been able to push a weak candidate like Romney on us.

But I well understand why you want to blame someone, anyone, but your yourself. Guilt and denial can be powerful things. But your hatred of libertarian Republicans won't help protect or restore America. How about trying something that will?

I can find that in Scripture, but what part of the Constitution bans homosexuals in the military? Don’t respond without quoting section(s) of the Constitution. Thanks.

Your paucity of knowledge of the scope, purpose and intent of the Constitution is so grave that it is pointless to have a “discussion” with you.

Forbidding practitioners of bestiality and incest in the military is also not mentioned in the Constitution.

How (mentally) old are you, 12?

I think I and Absolutely Nobama (who I rarely disagree with) made it crystal clear that we agree with R,Paul about debt, the iRS and the Fed. Rserve.

I’m also good with no foreign aid, but also add: “Help our allies and never help adversaries”.

But the negatives of R. Paul far outweigh the positives. There’s more to private and public life than money.
