Exclusive: Pamela Geller traces death of the republic to 2 short words
The United States of America was created as an independent nation whose founding ideal was the principle of individual rights. Freedom. Ayn Rand said that freedom, in a political context, means freedom from government coercion. America was the first moral government based on individual rights, the nation of the Enlightenment.
In this age of Obama, that ideal has been tossed aside for free stuff.
I have, for some time, struggled with the new reality: America void of her reason, existing without the reason for her existence, her morality. It did not seem possible. And yet what now seems impossible is that America ever was. As we revert back to the age of the primitive, the fact that America happened at all is nothing short of a miracle.
The United States of America was the rational mans shining hour.
Rabbi Steven Pruzansky of Congregation Bnai Yeshurun in Teaneck, N.J., recently wrote an analysis of the 2012 presidential election that is the best thing I have read on Romneys election loss and the broader question of the loss of America.
It is a different world, wrote Pruzansky, and a different America. Obama is part of that different America, knows it, and knows how to tap into it. That is why he won. What kind of different America? Pruzanskys explanation is devastating: Romney lost, he writes, because the conservative virtues the traditional American virtues of liberty, hard work, free enterprise, private initiative and aspirations to moral greatness no longer inspire or animate a majority of the electorate. The notion of the Reagan Democrat is one cliché that should be permanently retired. Ronald Reagan himself could not win an election in todays America. The simplest reason why Romney

According to his kid he lost because he didn’t really want to be President.
Sad but true.
Romney lost because he was a crappy candidate who ran a crappy campaign and had one of the worst GOTV programs in history.
Yeah, I heard that too. Guess he would rather have Obama as President instead of a conservative.
Now, it's "group demands. Slavery."
Bullshit. Even if Romney ran no campaign the American people knew what they were getting by allowing obama to be re-elected. The people CHOSE obama! The ones who voted for him and stupendously stupid and arrogant assholes who stayed home because Romney was a (pick your favorite...liberal, socialist, globalist, mormon, etc).
obama is the outward symptom of the cancer that has attached itself to America. The actual cancer is the 51% and more who voted for other people's money!
Let us not forget the fact that Romney is a Socialist (and Statist) and therefore no different than Obama in any significant manner.
Reagan faced even worse odds but ran as an articulate conservative and won TWO freekin’ landslides!!!
Our government and the media is infested with shameless traitors and there's only one way to beat them. Discussion and elections won't cure this problem. There is no reasoning with evil because they are shameless compulsive liars with NO MORAL COMPASS.
Wrong. Obama pulled in fewer votes than he did in 2008. He was beatable by a campaign that 1) stood for something, 2) took the attack to him, 3) could differentiate itself from Obama in key areas such as Obamacare, 4) had a candidate who people could relate to and 5) built on the GOTV model created by Karl Rove in 2000 and 2004 (a model that was the basis for Obama’s GOTV camapigns). Romney failed to do all five. And the stinkin’ GOP-E is learning all the wrong lessons in rushing to cave to the Dems’ free stuff mentality instead of realizing they pushed about the worst possible candidate in 2012.
Until the bond between the media and the Fascist regime is somehow broken, we'll not ever see a Republicans or conservatives holding the reigns of power, ever again EVER.
Our ire should be focused solely on the media right now.. They are the target because THEY ARE the average American's perception of truth.
George Soros and our insurgent gov't FUNDS the media.. That must somehow be STOPPED.
If you think that America of today is even a shadow of what it was 30 years ago you’re living a dream man. That country is GONE. The takers figured out that they can vote themselves our money. They now have the numbers.
This is only part of the truth, in reality the US Constitution set up a true republic with limited powers to the Federal and unlimited powers to the state(s). Somehow that got reversed and now we are paying the price. The BOR, while important, has been a shield for the corrupt statist to undermine the republic.
If a state wants to set up a socialist society that would be fine, since the state cant print money it WOULD have to be paid for. Now the socialism is coming top down and that NEVER ends well.
Thats a little misleading. His kid also said he did it out of a sense of duty. I prefer that to some psycho like Clinton who set out from high school to be president, or to an Obama who in elementary school seriously wanted to be king.
Being president is a little like being a cop, if you desperately covet the position, it’s probably better for us all if you don’t get it. Id rather have had Romneys attitude towards the office than King Obama’s, any day.
Romney lost because he is a Mormon. How many right here on FR during the primary season said they would sit out the election rather than vote for a Mormon? A lot. It is fundamentalist christians that won Obama a second term.
Another civilization “Gone With The Wind”.
Romney lost because the current GOP can’t be defended at the ‘Facebook level’. What I mean is that if you argue with the man on the street, in short, bumper sticker level phrases, you’re holding a losing hand. For instance:
“The GOP is the party of endless war.”
“If Obamacare is so bad, then why is Romneycare okay?”
“If spending is bad, why wasn’t it bad when it skyrocketed under Bush?”
“Why does the GOP only want tax breaks and subsidies for big corporations and the rich? Why not for the poor? Don’t they need it more? Why not let the free market be free, like you said works so well?”
“If domestic surveillance under Obama is so bad, why was it okay under Bush?”
“If the GOP is the party of freedom *and* responsibility, then why can’t I smoke weed, but alcohol is legal, when alcohol is objectively more dangerous? “
And so on. The problem is that the people that could be swayed away from the Big Government leviathan of the Democrats can’t be swayed by the GOP, because the GOP is short sighted and hypocritical. It’s afraid to stand up for freedom when freedom needs defending, and it’s ashamed to stand up for conservatism when conservatism needs defending. Including from when these two need to be defended from each other. (Sir, The Patriot Act is on line one.)
Now, we have a semi-rogue version of the Democrats, thanks to Bush, Romney and every other ‘compassionate conservative’, that is basically just Democrat-lite. And people don’t want Democrat-lite. They can get the real thing anytime they want. Would you buy a beer that was 50% watered down? No. That doesn’t please people that want beer, and it doesn’t please people that want water.
