GOP congressman threatens impeachment if Obama uses executive action for gun control

Texas Republican Rep. Steve Stockman threatened Monday afternoon that he would file articles of impeachment against President Barack Obama if he institutes gun control measures with an executive order.

Stockman warned that such executive orders would be “unconstitutional” and “infringe on our constitutionally-protected right to keep and bear arms.”

“I will seek to thwart this action by any means necessary, including but not limited to eliminating funding for implementation, defunding the White House, and even filing articles of impeachment,” Stockman said in a statement.

At his press conference Monday, Obama floated the possibility of using executive action to enact policies aimed at reducing gun violence.

The freshman congressman, who served one term in Congress in the mid-1990s, further labeled the possibility “an existential threat to this nation” because, he said, the purpose of the Second Amendment is to allow the people to protect themselves from tyranny.

“Any proposal to abuse executive power and infringe upon gun rights must be repelled with the stiffest legislative force possible,” he added. “Under no circumstances whatsoever may the government take any action that disarms any peaceable person — much less without due process through an executive declaration without a vote of Congress or a ruling of a court.”

He concluded by claiming that an executive order would be not just “not just an attack on the Constitution,” but also an “attack on Americans.”

“If the president is allowed to suspend constitutional rights on his own personal whims, our free republic has effectively ceased to exist,” he said.

Uh huh. Who gets to convict? Harry Reid’s senate?

Pointless posturing. There is no means within the system to undo what is going on anymore.

Yes someone with some spine

Articles of Impeachment should have been drawn up after fast and Furious was uncovered...and after Benghazi murders.

We have a GOP Leadership that is nothing more than Obama Supporter. They will probably try to stop this new House member’s Bill of Impeachment

I hope he follows through with this. IF he does, I will immediately contact my congresswoman (a conservative Republication) and tell her that if she wants my vote in 2014 she had better get on board with supporting this action.

IF President Obama tries to use abuse the Executive Order power to circumvent the proper use of the legislative branch, he MUST be impeached even if the Senate will never convict. Also, the GOP members of the House should do everything to stop him like defunding mentioned by this Congressman from Texas.

The President must NOT be allowed to behave as a “king” and not a president of a republic that does not grant him unlimited executive authority.

It is the ONLY remedy.

If you asked me, I would guess that 0bama is trying to bait the GOP to attempt an Impeachment of him.

The I would guess that is when he would bring the hammer out and we would have our first ever Crackdown on dissidents in the US.

God bless Stockman. It’s about time someone said it out loud - for a president to over-ride the second amendment of the US Constitution is tyranny and that is a high crime worthy of impeachment.

Obozo compares himself to Lincoln, and conservatives get all bunched up. I think they’re mistaken; I think he’s right. He reminds me more of disHonest Abe every day.

Does anyone remember the questions to Obama concerning gun control and the United Nations Conference on the Arms Trade Treaty, New York, 2-27 July 2012? I refer my FRiends to the draft of the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty:

http://www.snopes.com/politics/info/att.pdf

Interesting that Zer0 is heading the United States towards compliance with that treaty. The Obama Syndicate’s method of surreptitiously creating policy that makes Americans give up their sovereignty (and Second Amendment rights) and force compliance with the United Nations’ efforts at gun control is frightening.

Fast and Furious was a crime the president approved.

Benghazi was an illegal PRESIDENTIAL cover-up of illegal international activity.

Over-riding the second amendment and inciting the American people to revolt is tyranny

THAT MAKES IMPEACHMENT ALMOST MANDATORY- START TELLING THE AMERICAN VOTERS.

The comparison between Zer0 and President Lincoln are apples to oranges. Lincoln was dealing with a question of morality that was outlined by the Bill of Rights to all human beings. Zer0 is opposing the Bill of Rights as described by the Second Amendment.

Those who compare Obama to Lincoln don’t know fruits. Looking at Zer0 and his actions, we know fruits when we see them.

Of course it won’t go anywhere in the Senate. Everyone knows that. However, it will tie up the Administration for months. And how delicious it would be to see Flop Ears finally have to answer a staight question. I’d pay good dough to see Darrell Issa work Barky’s sorry *ss over, under oath to boot.

And then when the Senate gives him a pass, I’d impeach his *ss again. Rinse and repeat.
