They're usually thought of as a brutish, primitive species.
So what woman would want to give birth to a Neanderthal baby?
Yet this incredible scenario is the plan of one of the worlds leading geneticists, who is seeking a volunteer to help bring mans long-extinct close relative back to life.
Professor George Church of Harvard Medical School believes he can reconstruct Neanderthal DNA and resurrect the species which became extinct 33,000 years ago.
His scheme is reminiscent of Jurassic Park but, while in the film dinosaurs were created in a laboratory, Professor Churchs ambitious plan requires a human volunteer.
He said his analysis of Neanderthal genetic code using samples from bones is complete enough to reconstruct their DNA.
He said: Now I need an adventurous female human.
It depends on a hell of a lot of things, but I think it can be done.
Professor Churchs plan would begin by artificially creating Neanderthal DNA based on genetic code found in fossil remains. He would put this DNA into stem cells.
These would be injected into cells from a human embryo in the early stages of life.
It is thought that the stem cells would steer the development of the hybrid embryo on Neanderthal lines, rather than human ones...

Better than humans. With appropriate controls.
Or maybe just let the Good Lord take care of such things.
They look like cavemen. That looks like something come up with by a screenwriter and producer who has a completely new theory he invented on his own.
Oh wait,, thats exactly WHAT it is. I’m as qualified as that dude, and I* say they were cavemen, wearing skins, and they were gettin’ down with the dirty girls from our human camps. And that caused a war, and some babies with some DNA from the Neander valley bros.
My first preference.
They actually looked a lot like Shrek, except for the green skin.
Some other ideas of what Neanderthals looked like:
What if we brought Neanderthals back and they really were smarter than we are?
“Shouldnt we start with bacteria or something?”
Nobody want to see that in a zoo. We should skip right ahead to Neanderthals, mammoths, and T-rex’s.
If we can get four or five breeding pairs of T-rexes in Texas, they’ll start a hunting season for ‘em. In thinking a .460 Weatherby mag, or a Barrett 50 bmg rifle. But if you can’t shoot it offhand, that kinda seems unsportsmanlike. (i think)
I think I’d want something along the lines of a 50 cal machine gun for a T-rex.
Sounds like a job for a Kardashian.
I read a short story about that very thing. It all started with a scientist cloning a Neanderthal, just as this article describes.
The idea in the story is that Neanderthals were much smarter than the Cro-Magnon men, but could could not survive the Ice Age due to their higher dietary requirements that came from being so large and muscular.
However, once Neanderthals were introducted into modern society with little resource scarcity, they started outcompeting modern man, taking all the best university slots, etc. The story was leading to another confrontation between us and them, and the Neanderthals intended to win this time.
You, being desperate, has nothing to do with it.
If a Neantherdal, male or female, gets you, you’re going to have relations with him/her.
Maybe some of Sunken Civ's people can help answer that question.
The chicks were the cause of it all.
Same as always: “let’s you & him fight, while I sneak behind the bushes with that guy over there; the winner can have me...maybe.”
20mm? If it’s close, you need fast knock down power to stop a reptile: quad-40.
“Ladies and gentlemen of the jury. I’m just a poor caveman. Your modern world frightens and confuses me.”
T-rex had very little brain and a whole lotta meat between the side of its chest cavity and its heart. You’d need to be damn lucky to knock it down with one, maybe two shots of anything 50cal or smaller. Better to use the 25mm Bushmaster or similar. Otherwise, the only thing shooting it would get you get is 6 tons of really angry chicken with big teeth.
Might make a great football player? Or a boxer? Could be an ideal soldier—take a licking and keep on ticking. I think that they would not really be very different from us—maybe better in some ways.

Probably more intelligent than a liberal certainly
