Obama DHS Purchases 2,700 Light-Armored Tanks to Go With Their 1.6 Billion Bullet Stockpile

This is getting a little creepy.

According to one estimate, since last year the Department of Homeland Security has stockpiled more than 1.6 billion bullets, mainly .40 caliber and 9mm.

DHS also purchased 2,700 Mine Resistant Armor Protected Vehicles (MRAP).

Modern Survival Blog reported:

The Department of Homeland Security (through the U.S. Army Forces Command) recently retrofitted 2,717 of these ‘Mine Resistant Protected’ vehicles for service on the streets of the United States.

Although I’ve seen and read several online blurbs about this vehicle of late, I decided to dig slightly deeper and discover more about the vehicle itself.

The new DHS sanctioned ‘Street Sweeper’ (my own slang due to the gun ports) is built by Navistar Defense (NavistarDefense.com), a division within the Navistar organization...

Ever wonder why out of all the candidates the Republican establishment pushed for and got the most liberal RINO of the whole bunch the nomination? It’s so that no matter who won the cause wouldn’t suffer. Ya I voted for Romney too, but at least I did it with my nose held shut knowing I was voting for the lesser of two evils. “Republicans” ever pull that shit on me again and I’ll be one of those people staying home and damn right I’ll take a bow. We need a party that supports the people and the constitution, not another party that only cares about forwarding socialism. The Republican party has become increasingly liberal and has alienated a large portion of their base. This is the fault of the party, not those that are alienated.

This is not right! What is the government planning? They’re planning something. Otherwise, what do they need these 2717 vehicles for? The answer is they don’t. I really object to spending this money at a time when we have a budget problem. I would object to it even without the current state of finances of the federal government.
The founding fathers did not want a standing army. These armoured vehicles are the beginnnings of a standing army. Vote Republican next time.

" Hit it again!"

"Hanz, you've made your point now let them pull back!"

"I'll take it under advisement Mr. Cowboy, now hit it AGAIN!"...

WHOOSH, WHAM!

No, you weren't... One of the all time great movies, looks and sounds outstanding on Bluray.

As for Obammy's new "toys" to repress all us "bitter clingers", I have no doubt many former U.S. Servicemen who love this country and who will defend and uphold the Constitution of the United States against ALL enemies, DOMESTIC and foreign. Are already strategically developing tactics and ways to "neutralize" this latest threat from Obammy.

All I can say is boy are they in for a surprise when they awaken the sleeping giant of the millions of law abiding, loyal Americans who love this country and will not quietly go into the night of slavery to Obammy the tyrant and his OWS thug communist minions.

It will also be interesting to see how many active servicemen and National Guard personnel resist orders to shoot and kill fellow Americans, who instead take the tanks, copters, planes and other weapons at their disposal to UPHOLD THEIR OATH to DEFEND the Constitution by taking up arms against Obammy the dictator.

When MRAPs were deployed in Iraq, the attackers changed their tactics to suit. Though they could not easily destroy an MRAP with an IED, they could disable it. Then they would use multiple inexpensive RPG hits to destroy it.

Alternatively, they could use an IED to disable it, then use a Flame Field Expedient (FFE) to “cook” it.

Other simple techniques could include a covered ‘tiger trap’ with a few hundred gallons of gasoline and an ignition source in the bottom.

Undermining roads the MRAP is to cross, so that they tumble down a few hundred feet. And MRAPs probably don’t float very well.

Did the French Resistance, Warsaw Jews, drug cartels or the Viet Minh need rocket-propelled grenades or bazookas to take out tanks and armored cars?

No.

But back in those dark days most liquids came in glass bottles...

While this is a bit troubling, go look at your home states National Guard inventory that has been in place for many years.

In ours it's like several hundred M1 tanks, about twice that number in Bradley fighting vehicles, several thousand uparmored HUMVEEs, about 75 F-16s, about 500 howitzers and plenty of other seriously capable weapons systems.

Kind of puts a few thousand DHS para military response vehicles into perspective.

It's almost certain that we are going to see some serious civil unrest as the insane Obama borrow and spend binge winds down and the economy comes down off it's sugar high.

It's wise to be prepared, and these things could go a long way to keeping our system functioning, but the big issue is going to be who is driving those things and what are going to to be doing with them.

The job they are intended for is to suppress and disperse riots and other mass violence events like what was seen in a Chicago mall a few weeks ago. Nice to have around when the EBT cards bounce, which is only a matter of time when we are borrowing forty six cents of dollar the Government spends.

With the current administration and Napolitano at DHS, it is not unreasonable to assume that there is at least a realistic chance that when the EBT cards bounce, they may be crewed by previously unemployed urban youths with prior gang affiliations who's job it is to seize the “hoarded food and supplies from the greedy, bitter clingers, Tea Party activists, and Preppers who refuse to share their illegally hoarded stockpiles with the rest of their fellow Americans for the greater good. After all, these are the people who created the economic mess and are responsible for the hard times anyway”.

By the way, for those who care about such things, what the SWAT officer in the video calls the “observation port” on the top of the vehicle is actually where the 50 cal Ma Deuce machine gun or 7.62x51 chain gun mounts and the mounting system is still in place.

FWIW, I also get the heebee jeebees when I hear civilian LEOs refer to themselves as “operators” , which is an overtly military term that previously was reserved for the serious professionals in the Special Forces community, but has since been co opted by the Spec Op wanna bees and Storm Trooper would bees.

It's been so co opted by the wannbees that the true professionals are increasingly no longer refer to themselves as operators and are coming up with new terminology to refer to themselves.

Just sayin’

The U.S. couldn’t buy body arm for our soldiers but can buy this stuff for his upcoming civil war.

There's not enough money for the DOD, but "we" just gave $250 MILLION to the muslim brotherhood in Egypt.

Interesting comment, well worth repeating:

They are getting ready to put down an insurrection.

And they don’t know if it will come from the right or left (they really don’t).

(Emphasis added)

Nor do they care, as long as they can rule the ruins.

I hope the good people still left in the military are working on ways to ensure that they can take control of arms and ammunition, and vehicles like this, if they have to. If the resistance can get access to a good number of ammo supply centers, then all those bullets and all that equipment can be diverted to freedom fighters. There would have to be a trigger event, and people would have to move quickly, because access would be severely restricted once it became clear that the marxists were seizing power and the old rules no longer applied.

I know the answer!! Border Patrol! /s

I suspect that a significant number of these will go to the Border Patrol. They have been on the receiving end of sniper fire from Mexico countless times. Its only a matter of time before the cartels start using IEDs. It would be all to easy and a real game changer for border enforcement. I predicted they would start using IEDs some years ago but thankfully they have not so far.

I honestly shouldn’t weigh in here, but I will. If we look at the threat matrix, the highest threat to the US comes from internet hacking of the electrical grid by way of introduction of a Stuxnet type virus. Interesting thing about that is that there are two likely attackers, N. Korea and Iran and Iran is the number one threat.

Stuxnet was written by US government employees.

Whither the threat?
