An innocent photograph posted on Facebook of a beaming, spectacled boy proudly displaying a birthday present from his father prompted a police raid befitting an al-Qaida terrorist.
New Jersey resident Shawn Moore, a National Rifle Association firearms instructor, range safety officer and New Jersey hunter education instructor, gave his son a .22-caliber rifle for his 11th birthday.

THIS is something the NRA should get involved in.
File suit. Discover who ordered the investigation and raid.
Attach their house, cars, retirement accounts to the civil suit.
Get them under oath and force them to admit that it wasn’t law, but their own prejudices that caused them to order the investigation.
It should scare the hell of whoever ordered this raid.
Find out, and and make them worry.
A lot.
Ah... make up some flyers with their pictures on them...
“THIS person ordered a raid on THIS family’s house”
The story is bad, but is “raid” really the word to use here?
The cops showed up with the DFS lady and they tried to get the guy to open his safe. They had no warrant and really no PC, but they went ahead and showed up and tried to gain access to the home and safe, and failed. Good on the father for standing up, getting his lawyer on the phone and standing firm.
I don’t see “raid” as the word to use, but they father should definitely make a fuss.
...then THEY'VE succeeded, make a call to your local Rep and scare the hell out of THEM!
What town was this in? I saw the FOX Show and they never clarified it.
Three ways to take over a nation:
1. Take control of the media. DONE
2. Flood the country with money. DONE
3. Remove all firearms from the populace. WORKING ON IT
another account....
The KKK was shut down as an organization by such a huge award in a suit brought by the Southern Poverty Law Center that it lost its property. This same tactic should be used by the NRA to go after the agencies and personnel responsible for this outrage.
That's about as far as I got. No need for me to read further.
It sucks, but it is the way it is.
There was no raid. They knocked on the door and demanded to see the guns. The homeowner was on the speakerphone with his attorney who said they would need a warrant. They never saw the guns.
Not that this does not really pi$$ me off, but this was not what most people would see as a “raid”.

Doesn’t government have anything more useful to do with its time and money? Maybe it’s time to take away some of the money.
You havent got a chance unless you make it to the USSC.
This raid was initiated by a child abuse report. Laws protect the anonymity of anyone reporting child abuse.
It is unconstitutional but you have to get to the USSC to win.
I totally agree. I really hope there is a suit filed. Checking on a child’s welfare with no proof of wrongdoing? My question is, did they have to let the police in the home at all without a warrant?
They don’t have to take your guns: They just have to take your child. 80% of the people will willingly give up their firearms and practically thank you for it to get their kids back.
A long time ago, in another life, I did some wrap-around services contract work for GA’s Dept. of Family and Child Services.
You may not have had the chance to witness the kind of reckless power they can wield, but the cops bringing them in is the biggest threat that they were trying to send to the father - and to any parent out there.
They can go to a sympathetic judge and get this kid taken from the home with very little evidence that the child is in immediate danger. Then, they simply make one of the stipulations for getting the child back the surrender of all firearms.
I’ve seen that stipulation in case plans.
A parent will do it. It’s either that or fight it and then your kid could be in state guardianship for years.
I’ve also seen parents forced to undergo psych. evals. as a regular part of most case plans. They’ll use that against you as well.
99% of the time Wives will divorce a man who even hesitates to do it right off of the bat. A woman sticking it out for years just to maintain her 2A rights is unheard of.
“... if a curious stranger got too close they would offer him a fag and pretend to be friendly.”
What if one does not have a member of ‘Queer Nation’ available? What should then be offered to the StasiPerson?
;-)
I think that word means what you think it means!
Amen, brother.
Oh, the reporting entity isn’t who I’m interested in.
It’s the person in the seat of authority ordering the investigation that needs to get chastised.
In a sane world, they would have received the report, looked at the “evidence” and said there’s no reason, based on this photo, to take any action whatsoever.
A coward is a man who never acts. A rash man acts before he is ready, or when he has no hope of success. A wise man carefully prepares and plans and acts when his enemy is complacent and inattentive. I suggest that you read your Machiavelli and Sun Tzu. But if you still think you are a free man you haven’t been paying attention.
That word you use... I do not think it means what you think it means.
LOL!!! I knew someone was going to rag on me about that! :-)
This scares the hell out of me! I hope this attracts massive outrage! Little by little. . . bit by bit.

I’ve seen 8 or 10 different threads on FR alone about this. Its in the blogosphere. But thats about it.
We dont live in a sane world.
The law requires that every report of child abuse be investigated.
It is reasonable to bring the police considering that it there were firearms on the premises. It was not reasonable to try and force the issue of seeing the firearms.
Speak for yourself. I live as a free man and anyone that doesn't like it can pound sand or kill me.

It’s only “inconceivable” if you haven’t been paying the slightest shred of attention to what’s been happening to peaceful gun owners in states like New Jersey and New York.
(I used to say “law-abiding” in addition to “peaceful,” but given the laws these days, that’s no longer a term of approbation.)
Reminded me of the Garden Song. I rewrote the lyrics.
0bamas Communist Garden song
Inch by inch, row by row
Gonna make dictatorship grow
Cut their liberties deep and low
Gonna make it Communist ground
Inch by inch, row by row
Please bless these seeds I sow
So the people really dont know
till the Constitution comes tumbling down
Pulling freedom and trampling rights
The people wont even put up a fight
The media fools will say its right
Cause the transformation is close at hand
Grab their guns, take their wealth and brains
Throw their religion down the drain
till their bodies no longer strain
Against the new Communist command
"Child abuse?" What "child abuse?" There was no "child abuse" reported, and a report of something that is not "child abuse" is not required to be investigated.
I especially liked how that social services (and, if there were ever a bogus profession, that’s it) refused to give her name.
They need to find the busybody who “SWATted” them.
The cops were not checking Facebook on their own. This sort of thing is DANGEROUS.
Is this not simply another version of “swatting”?

That is fine for you and I wouldn’t think of trying to talk you out of it, but many of us have families to consider. Liberating our country is not going to happen overnight. We need to have a long-haul mentality. OPSEC is essential if we plan to succeed.
From the article “While everyone was gathered in his home, Moore asked the New Jersey caseworker for her name. She wouldnt give it to him.”
Never let anyone, who is working in an official capacity, into your home without them prodcuing photo ID from their office/department. They are not who they say they are until this is provided. These people do not like to provide ID they love to work under a cloak of anonimity.

By the time the father returned to his home, the “authorities” were in his home pressing to search.
He refused the search, as you should have.
Use of the word “raid” is out of place, a raid is pre-planned and they have a warrant.
This incident was clearly not-pre-planned and didn’t have a warrant.
All they had was a social worker with the vapors. . .and I BET, SHE IS ANOTHER ONE OF HOLDER’S/OBAMA’S PEOPLE.
The photo of a smiling boy, holding his legally-owned weapon, hardly indicates any kind of abuse. The photo alone should have made that clear. ... In a sane world.
Fox is on this now.
Can’t, local, state and federal employees are exempt from lawsuits unless they agree to be sued....
That almost never happens....
I don't think acting cowardly in the face of the opposition is 'strategic'. I think it's just cowardly. Security in exchange for freedom isn't worth it.

When my wife's small business was audited by our good friends at the IRS last year, the auditor admitted that one of the things that prmopted the audit was the difference between the income the business reported and our perceived lifestyle as determined by his looking at our Facebook pictures.
Just FYI...
Is this a country we want to live in? Fascist jackbooted thugs threatening to put you in jail and kidnap your kids? is this the USA we knew?
For cripes sake, I held a gun many times when I was that age. Also a member of the NRA at 15.
The real story here is not the Police, but rather DHR. What is more scary? Police asking to see your guns, or some bureaucrat with the power to take your kids? Don’t piss off the DHR lady!
I have a good friend whose wife died. Great father. Home looked kinda rough but his kids were well fed, loved and did well in school. Some busy body who I guess thought a single dad couldn’t take care of kids called DHR. Came knocking on his door one day demanding to inspect his house and talk to his kids. If he didn’t let them in, they threatened to take the children. Scared him to death. Made periodic inspections of his home for the next 2 years.
Is it tar & feather O’clock yet?
Google is harder to beat, but I am slowly getting all references to my real name and info deleted. Some of it is permanently cached, though. But that I had gotten canny sooner!
That's my .02. Obviously YMMV.
