Why Has There Been No Revolution?
Freedom Outpost ^ | Mar. 23, 2013 | William Lafferty

When the central government in the United States rams through a 2700 page bill that was not read by any person who voted for it and whose impossible promises of more-for-less are now being revealed as a fraud; when the government, without apparent concern, rapidly inflates the national debt to 16 trillion that it will admit to (actually it’s 83 trillion); when the federal government sues the state of Arizona to stop it from guarding the borders and enforcing federal laws concerning illegal aliens; and when the government announces that it wishes to ban all weapons that would allow citizens to resist government overreaching, how far distant is revolution?

This question must have run through the minds of anyone who has read the newspapers for the last four or five years. In today’s Wall Street Journal in the “Notable & Quotable” column, historian Paul Rahe, citing Tocqueville, writes:

“One key indicator [of readiness for revolution] is that those with access to the levers of power within the ruling order cease to believe in the religion or ideology that legitimizes the regime. . . . First goes the belief in the legitimacy of the system. Then comes a trigger–an event which causes large numbers of people to say to themselves, ‘I cannot take this anymore.’ Then, the crucial question is whether those in charge have the nerve to try to crush the rebellion and whether their underlings will follow orders. If the powers that be are hesitant, ambivalent, or divided, if their underlings are fed up, things can very easily come apart (as they did in eastern Europe, in the Soviet union, and in Tunisia, Egypt, libya, and Syria).”

I suggest there has been no revolution because Obama and his lieutenants have been able to disguise his lack of belief in the legitimacy of the system as patriotism. It’s as if he were able to say, “Let’s destroy the health care system, let’s bankrupt the economy, let’s compromise the security of our borders, and let’s confiscate guns. It’s the American way.”

Good observation. I have long said that the Republicans should stop playing nice and just tell people (over and over and over): He's lying to you. He does not share American values. He's a grifter. He uses government to help friends, not voters. He's corrupt. This man is not interested in freedom or rights or a growing economy. He's not who he appears to be.

But the GOP is actively trying to "partner" with Obama, because "we're all in this together" and that maintains a kind of faith in the system which is quite unwarranted.

As I’ve always said, for a revolution to take place, the conditions have to be pretty dire (children being ripped from parents, etc.) People in general just want to get on with their lives and as long as they can have at least the illusion of doing so, they’re fine with that. Socialists asked the same question after WW1 and wonder why Russia went for a revolution instead of the industrialized West.

It’s because Obama is half-black. If you’re against his destructive ideas and actions, you’re a racist.

Everybody knows this!

Obamacare has not gone full monte, when people learn of all the hidden taxes, I predict they will be plenty uncomfortable and very unhappy.
The low information voter has no idea that everytime helicopter Ben starts up the presses, and gives the money to Goldman Sachs, and wall street, that it really is a tax because their spending power just shrank a little more. They just look around and wonder why life seems to be getting harder, or worse, go get in line for Federal Goodies, and Think they are recieving Freebies.

They feel they still have something to lose. Once they lose whatever that is, which will be soon, they will revolt.

I think the straight talk has to come from unelected people. We are at a disadvantage as far as having a platform to be heard from others than ourselves.

As long as people’s mentality is still in high school, they’ll tolerate most anything.

Revolution? Unlikely.

Secession? Perhaps down the road.

State Nullification of Fed mandates? I see that coming. Soon.

There is no revolution because about 90% of the people in the USA have not a single clue what Tocqueville meant when he wrote:

“One key indicator [of readiness for revolution] is that those with access to the levers of power within the ruling order cease to believe in the religion or ideology that legitimizes the regime.

Most seem to believe we still are immersed in the ideology of Liberty that was a founding principle of this county. They think having the ability to choose "American Idol" or some other insipid TV show is Liberty.

The Revolution is already ON! The rebels have been able to disguise themselves as ordinary householders and merchants yet they have gone to great pains to arm themselves to the teeth and get briefings (from the internet and elsewhere) on the manufacture of molotov cocktails, mangles, use of fire, what to stash for survival during periods of civil disorder, etc.

The period of open combat has not yet arrived.

I agree.

Call him out.

Consistently, over and over again.

Take the heat of being called a racist.

And call him out some more.

This is war.

Make the MSM spin their wheels with their constant attacks of racism. It will grow old.

And call him out again.

Cut to the chase and tell the public they are being lied too.

Let the MSM spin. Nobody believes them anyway.

This is war.
