Wyoming Republican Sen. Mike Enzi may be gearing up to run for re-election in 2014, but that doesn’t mean Liz Cheney is ruling out a run for the Senate seat now.
A source close to the politically active daughter of Vice President Dick Cheney tells The Daily Caller that she is still seriously considering running. (RELATED: Wyoming Republican Mike Enzi reportedly will run again for Senate)
Over the weekend, The Casper Star Tribune reported that Enzi told a meeting of the GOP state party committee that he is looking forward to running for re-election — something he has yet to formally announce.
“Senator Enzi’s statement to the central committee stands on its own,” Enzi press secretary Daniel Head told TheDC on Monday. “He won’t make an official announcement until later. If that changes, we’ll let you know.”
For months, there has been speculation in the media that Cheney would run for the Wyoming seat, especially if Enzi retired.
Cheney, a lawyer who has served in various positions in government, has not commented publicly about whether she’s eying the seat. But her activities seem to signal that she could be interested in a run of some sort: She recently moved to Jackson Hole, Wyo., with her family. She has also been giving speeches at various events in the state.
Her father represented Wyoming in Congress from 1979 to 1989.
Her dad was the only congressman from Wyoming for ten years, which means he won statewide five times, essentially a third senator. I hope she runs or forces Enzi to retire so she can run anyway.

The Cheneys should get out of politics like the Bushes, the Clintons, the Kennedys and all those pseudo-patriots. At least, Jimmy Carter did not try to push his daughter into American politics.
Sheesh, I shudder to think to have another Obama or Roosevelt on any ballot in the future.

Does she support "gay marriage" like her dad and sis? If so, no thanks. There's something seriously wrong if the so-called "more conservative" candidate in the primary agrees with Mark Kirk and Lisa Murkowski. Mike Enzi's not perfect but I'm pretty sure he's not with the left on a major issue.
Enzi is for the Internet sales tax, I hate that but that’s the only thing that comes to mind where he’s been off the reservation.

I’m trying to remember something specific and can’t. He was ranking member (and I think still is) on the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions committee (Ted Kennedy got it to spell out HELP, wasn’t he clever) and was ranking member to Ted Kennedy and was always going along with him. And he was easily duped by Kennedy. Kennedy sent Enzi’s mother a birthday card, and then Enzi all of a sudden thought Kennedy was a great guy. And Enzi didn’t do much to stop the health care bill from getting through committee.
I just have a vague memory of always seeing his name in the wrong list on votes, like Alan Simpson always was.
Mike Enzi's ratings from dozens of different conservative groups speak for themselves. He's not perfect, he's voted the "wrong way" once or twice (who hasn't), but overall he is solidly conservative on social, economic, and foreign policy views. He is ranked as the 6th most conservative Senator for a reason -- Mike Enzi would be VERY very far down on the list if you were to rank Senators by how RINOish they are.
I have a very VIVID memory of seeing the Bush administration, which Liz Cheney was a loyal part of and always staunchly defended on TV -- being on the wrong side of numerous high profile issues from immigration to spending. And there is no doubt her family led the way to "evolving" on marriage and today's effort to destroy the institution of marriage, long before even Obama got involved.
I think it would very unwise for Liz Cheney to pick a fight with another conservative and try to run as the "more conservative" candidate because he's not 100% perfect and voted the wrong way once in a blue moon. If the choice is someone who supports an internet sales tax vs. someone who supports destroying the institution of marriage, she's going to lose.
You know, Rick Perry just announced he’s not running for reelection in Texas. Why doesn’t Liz run for governor instead?

2. DC insider. Check.
3. Name recognition. Check.
Yeah, that's what this country needs - more of the same. We will never, ever learn.
My hope is that Mike Enzi retires and Cynthia Loomis succeeds him. Enzi hasn’t decided on whether he’s running yet.
Where has Enzi slipped up besides the Internet sales tax? No one can think of anything but people have a “vague” sense of not liking him.
Shades of when Jerry Moran was called a "RINO" because he was running against Todd Tiahrt in the primary (and I say this as someone who backed Tiahrt but was embarrassed by some of the tactics used against Moran). Or, more appropriately, when Chris Lauzen ran for Congress and Jim Oberweis worshipers decided he was scum because nobody is allowed to run for an office that he wants. The latter is a very good example because both candidates were conservatives, but Lauzen had a proven record and far less baggage.
