We are constantly reassured that recognizing gay marriage will not lead to the recognition of other unions, such as polygamous or incestuous ones. As a conservative who supports gay marriage, and has done so for quite some time, I bought into these reassurances in good faith.
Now I am starting to wonder if I’ve been hoodwinked.
Why? On April 15th, an article was posted on Slate. Had it not been for Rush Limbaugh finding and discussing the article on his radio show today, it would have likely gone unnoticed by many, posted only hours before the Boston bombing and lost in the subsequent news cycle. But there it is, entitled: “Legalize Polygamy! No. I am not kidding.”
In it, Jillian Keenan writes:
“Recently, Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council reintroduced a tired refrain: Legalized gay marriage could lead to other legal forms of marriage disaster, such as polygamy. Rick Santorum, Bill O’Reilly, and other social conservatives have made similar claims. It’s hardly a new prediction—we’ve been hearing it for years. Gay marriage is a slippery slope! A gateway drug! If we legalize it, then what’s next? Legalized polygamy?
We can only hope.
Yes, really. While the Supreme Court and the rest of us are all focused on the human right of marriage equality, let’s not forget that the fight doesn’t end with same-sex marriage. We need to legalize polygamy, too. Legalized polygamy in the United States is the constitutional, feminist, and sex-positive choice.

What the heck does a “conservative” think is going to happen by supporting the liberal agenda? He doesn’t sound so conservative if he still has to wonder if he is suffering from buyer’s remorse.
Interesting. It looks like these sites have been around for many years.
Polygamy has been around for centuries. It has been more historically and culturally accepted than homosexual coupling. Homosexuality has pretty much always been looked down on even if it was always a reality.
Don’t think so, because I think even when they have everything they want, they will move the needle. There will be new manufactured minority that have been discriminated against for centuries.
To be honest, I think a lot of the social issues were manufactured to divide us so that the Left could gain power by championing them
And the gay “marriage” advocates knew polygamy was next as well.
Gay rights advocates can’t be trusted. They claim their “rights” won’t affect heterosexuals but then sue Christian business owners who don’t like their lifestyle.
Polygamy is a way for making women slaves to men.
I am waiting for pedophiles calling for the marriage to children. Children become slaves to perverts.
When we let the Marxists throw out the tradition of marriage that has served our society for generations, we have destroyed one more thing: the idea that there is universal truth derived from natural law. Natural law has protected the individual from the collective. It is the basis of our Constitution. They are destroying the notion of natural law right from under our nose.
The Marxists are destroying America from within. Same sex marriage is one more tactic from the Marxist tool box. Pretty soon, when all the widgets that hold together our society have been loosened, the critical mass will have been reached and we will explode into the universe of history. Human beings will once again be set back in time to when the individual was the slave of the state.

Anyone who thought it would stop with gay marriage wasn’t thinking logically.
There is far, far, more religious, historical, and cultural precedents for polygamy than can be found for gay marriage and UNLIKE gay marriage, a polygamous union can provide a safe and secure environment for children.
In fact, prior to the modern era, I have not been able to find reference to a single culture/civilization/period where gay marriage was a legal and recognized social institution.
The author of this piece isn’t very bright. He also watches “Hannity and Colmes” every night...
