Support for a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants has declined from last month, a new poll found.
Fifty-two percent of Americans backing granting illegal immigrants a pathway to citizenship, compared with the 59 percent who supported such action in an April 4 poll, according to a Quinnipiac University survey released Thursday. Eleven percent think they should stay but not be granted citizenship, and 30 percent think they should not be able to stay. The rest were unsure or didn’t answer.
Among Republicans, 36 percent think they should be allowed to stay and eventually apply for citizenship; 15 percent think they should stay but not be granted citizenship; and 42 percent think they shouldn’t be able to stay. Among Democrats, 69 percent think they should stay and be granted citizenship; 8 percent think they should stay but not be granted citizenship; and 18 percent think they shouldn’t stay. The rest are undecided or didn’t answer.
An increase of voters think that illegal immigrants should be required to leave the country — 30 percent of Americans think they should leave, a 5 percentage point increase from the 25 percent who thought so earlier this month.
Meanwhile, the recent Boston Marathon bombings have influenced some voters’ opinions about immigration, Quinnipiac found. Twenty-two percent of voters think that creating a pathway to citizenship would increase the likelihood of terrorism. Sixty-six percent say it wouldn’t make a difference.
Quinnipiac didn’t poll on potential GOP candidates in this particular poll. Quinnipiac polled 1,471 registered voters between April 25 and April 29, and it has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.6 percentage points.
Maybe this is the reason Pat Leahy all of a sudden introduced an amendment to try to get the gays on board.

If his plan was to really take credit for getting a huge immigration bill passed though congress and signed by O, then use that to run for POTUS, it was a very risky plan.
On the Morning Joe they were admitting that immigration looks like the next ‘sure thing’ to fail.
However we decide to resolve the status of those presently residing here illegally, we would be making a GRAVE MISTAKE to ever allow them the right to vote.

I think this immigration bill will succeed, maybe not in its full current version, but some of it will fly, the rest will happen bit by bit, piece by piece, over a period of a few years.
Just like gun control, it will not go away, until they get it all.
