Hi arthurus, I hope you are well.
Westboro was here protesting at a Thunder game when the homesexual player came out. They were quoted in the media as saying that the injury to Russell Westbrook was God punishing OKC. The homosexual never played for OKC. They just look for media attention.
But, I moseyed down to see them protest in the rain, and chatted up a uniformed police officer. Westboro was confined to an area on one corner, there was a counter protest on another corner. Police had the Westboro people cordoned off with yellow tape. I asked waht the proptocol was. The policeman said, “If any one of them gets outside the tape, or breathes on a passerby, they will be arrested”. As an aside, they were on their way to protest the funeral of George Jones at the Grand Ol Opry.
Seeing about 50 protesters and 6 uniformed officers, I asked if they had enough manpower. He began to point out the 18 plain clothes officers acting like fans, spread outside the tape.
I almost went over to provoke them, but my son wanted to get into the game. Later I told him there will always be other games, but provoking a mass arrest doesn’t come along often.
I wish I had known so I could have gone down to Moore today. Those people are not worthy of the air they breathe, or the space they take.

Makes you wonder who finances their travel for this nonsense.
Perhaps their efforts could become more expensive?
I re-posted this on Facebook because I have several friends in that area. One of them replied with the information that it didn’t happen. The Westboro scum applied for a permit and were denied. The bikers were there but nothing happenned. No protest or arrests. While this story is more satisfying, rhe actual results were better for the mourners. A local radio station spun it as “the protesters scared off by the big, bad bikers” story.
What is to protest at a child’s funeral? Crazy.
I'd speculate that travel expenses for quadipilegics can add up. It's surprising they have not been involved in a "tragic accident" somewhere.
It's not what is to protest, it's what they hope to get from it. And the answer to that is publicity for their message of hate.
I’ll check into it deeper. I’ve been told from a pretty reliable source that it did happen. But I wasn’t there to know for 100%. I’ll check further into it.
Quite often the insurance carrier of whatever jurisdiction the WBC sues will settle out of court to avoid legal costs. Thank you for the post. I've gotten tired of trying to inform FReepers about exactly how these vermin (lawyers) operate.
The MSM loves these guys because they make all religion look bad.
For those of you who are confused, here is the low down. They did NOT show at the funeral, which was in Moore. There are specific laws regulating funeral protests. They HAD obtained permits to protest in Moore. After the funeral service, the procession went to a cemetary in OKC for the burial. It was at this point that the protesters showed up. Apparently, the laws about funeral protests do not carry over to graveside services. Anyway, they WERE at the graveside services protesting, and were promptly arrested because they had failed to obtain OKC permits. So both stories are true. Also, the news stations have refused to cover any stories about them, because they don’t want to give them the satisfaction of getting the attention they so desperately want. So no, you will be hard pressed find news stories that tell you that they showed up. Technically, they did not show up at the funeral (at the church in Moore). Hope that clears things up
