Identical twin studies prove homosexuality is not genetic
Holland Davis ^ | May-13-2013 | Mark Ellis

Posted on 06/01/2013 5:59:38 PM PDT by Coleus

Eight major studies of identical twins in Australia, the U.S., and Scandinavia during the last two decades all arrive at the same conclusion: gays were not born that way.

“At best genetics is a minor factor,” says Dr. Neil Whitehead, PhD. Whitehead worked for the New Zealand government as a scientific researcher for 24 years, then spent four years working for the United Nations and International Atomic Energy Agency. Most recently, he serves as a consultant to Japanese universities about the effects of radiation exposure. His PhD is in biochemistry and statistics.

Identical twins have the same genes or DNA. They are nurtured in equal prenatal conditions. If homosexuality is caused by genetics or prenatal conditions and one twin is gay, the co-twin should also be gay.

“Because they have identical DNA, it ought to be 100%,” Dr. Whitehead notes. But the studies reveal something else. “If an identical twin has same-sex attraction the chances the co-twin has it are only about 11% for men and 14% for women.”

Because identical twins are always genetically identical, homosexuality cannot be genetically dictated. “No-one is born gay,” he notes. “The predominant things that create homosexuality in one identical twin and not in the other have to be post-birth factors.”

Dr. Whitehead believes same-sex attraction (SSA) is caused by “non-shared factors,” things happening to one twin but not the other, or a personal response to an event by one of the twins and not the other.

For example, one twin might have exposure to pornography or sexual abuse, but not the other. One twin may interpret and respond to their family or classroom environment differently than the other. “These individual and idiosyncratic responses to random events and to common environmental factors predominate,” he says.

The first very large, reliable study of identical twins was conducted in Australia in 1991, followed by a large U.S. study about 1997. Then Australia and the U.S. conducted more twin studies in 2000, followed by several studies in Scandinavia, according to Dr. Whitehead.

“Twin registers are the foundation of modern twin studies. They are now very large, and exist in many countries. A gigantic European twin register with a projected 600,000 members is being organized, but one of the largest in use is in Australia, with more than 25,000 twins on the books.”

A significant twin study among adolescents shows an even weaker genetic correlation. In 2002 Bearman and Brueckner studied tens of thousands of adolescent students in the U.S. The same-sex attraction concordance between identical twins was only 7.7% for males and 5.3% for females—lower than the 11% and 14% in the Australian study by Bailey et al conducted in 2000.

In the identical twin studies, Dr. Whitehead has been struck by how fluid and changeable sexual identity can be.

“Neutral academic surveys show there is substantial change. About half of the homosexual/bisexual population (in a non-therapeutic environment) moves towards heterosexuality over a lifetime. About 3% of the present heterosexual population once firmly believed themselves to be homosexual or bisexual.”

“Sexual orientation is not set in concrete,” he notes.

Even more remarkable, most of the changes occur without counseling or therapy. “These changes are not therapeutically induced, but happen ‘naturally’ in life, some very quickly,” Dr. Whitehead observes. “Most changes in sexual orientation are towards exclusive heterosexuality.”

Numbers of people who have changed towards exclusive heterosexuality are greater than current numbers of bisexuals and homosexuals combined. In other words, ex-gays outnumber actual gays.

The fluidity is even more pronounced among adolescents, as Bearman and Brueckner’s study demonstrated. “They found that from 16 to 17-years-old, if a person had a romantic attraction to the same sex, almost all had switched one year later.”

“The authors were pro-gay and they commented that the only stability was among the heterosexuals, who stayed the same year after year. Adolescents are a special case—generally changing their attractions from year to year.”

Still, many misconceptions persist in the popular culture. Namely, that homosexuality is genetic – so hard-wired into one’s identity that it can’t be changed. “The academics who work in the field are not happy with the portrayals by the media on the subject,” Dr. Whitehead notes. “But they prefer to stick with their academic research and not get involved in the activist side.”

There is a heck of a lot more to biology than just genetics. For example, halfway through gestation, a male fetus will excrete a squirt of testosterone, which will travel to its brain to make it a “male” brain. If that testosterone does not arrive, by default, brains are “female”.

Importantly, a male or female or mixed brain in a human is *not* enough to determine their sexuality, just their masculine or feminine behaviors.

And it gets odder. Males have a small amount of estrogen in their bodies, and females have a small amount of testosterone in theirs. But females with more than the usual amount of testosterone generally have stronger libidos, and want and enjoy sex more.

Of course not. Homosexuality is a proclivity, a sexual degradation, a weakness of the mind.

God forbid my beautiful twin daughters, just 6 months old, were touched by the insidious proclivity of the homosexual agenda.

However, I know that their genetics are strong enough to fight any female weaknesses.

As their mother, I can attest against the homo agenda. I’ve never been inclined or even curious about what being gay might feel like. I know I’m a woman, and I have NEVER had the desire to ever try to imitate a man (no matter how flimsy of a man).

So, I freaking know that being a homo is not genetic, but a mental weakness given into perversion. And btw, I hate weakness!

Well, heck, I could have told you that!

It can’t be hereditary because if it was, it would have evolved out of the species by the simple fact that homosexual behavior is not reproductive. Dance with your own gender, you have no babies. End of the gene.

It isn’t rocket science.

I could have told him that and saved the time and money. My previous husband was an identical twin, and his brother was gay. Actually, that was how I told them apart when I first met them. A while later I saw a photo of them at age 3, and I could tell which was which by the gay look on the other one’s face. Knowing their mother, I consider it a wonder that they weren’t both gay.

I would submit that there's a difference between the relative masculine or effeminate personality trait and their sexual preference. There's plenty of heterosexuals that are more effeminate and homosexuals that are more masculine to show that, for either sex. The curious thing to me however is that of the gays I've known over the years they do, almost without exception, always pair up in relationships with their role opposite. That's to say... Two gay men will pair up with one in a masculine role and one more effeminate, and lesbians will likely pair up with each taking a gender role. It's inescapable.

The curious part is why... For example... A lesbian woman claims not to be naturally attracted to men but is attracted to a masculine woman. Seems its not about gender or psychology at all... But merely about the equipment. They're happy to have sex with a masculine-acting woman with strap-on equipment... But not with a man. That's not gay... That's just a man hater.

IMO 90% of Homosexuals have had a traumatic sexual experience as a child or a mother or father who pointed them in that direction.

Your opinion is actually backed up by studies. Many studies, and they are all consistent. I believe they fall within th 85-90 percentile range, but it's been 3 years since I looked at the data.

If it was genetic, it would have been bred out of existence long ago.

That said, it still could be some kind of birth defect, or perhaps due to exposure to something in our water/food/air (soy anyone?).

My fear is that this might be something physical, and preventable or treatable, but because both sides are so adamant, it will never be discovered.

now the he/she will have to have his Adam’s Apple surgically removed, only males have them.

Only those with testosterone develop a prominent Adam's Apple. Some females are especially sensitive to testosterone and since they have some of this hormone in their systems (through liver conversion or the adrenal gland) they can develop the Adam's Apple along with a degree of male-pattern baldness and hirsutism...these are unfortunate in a female.

Just as some females are unusually sensitive to testosterone some unlucky males are totally immune to its effects. This is called Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome. They generally develop very feminine characteristics.

>>>I am reminded of a medical article I read many years ago.

A young man from way back in the hills was drafted for WWII.

His mother died when he was born and he had no women in his life at all. He grew up around men, never seeing a woman.

When drafted they noticed something strange about him so they gave him some tests.

1. They showed him pictures of naked women. No reaction.

2. They showed him pictures of naked men. No reaction.

They did not know what to think of it when another doctor, made aware of the boy’s upbringing, tried something different.

3. They showed him pictures of a cow. WOW! Instant reaction.<<<

That is how it really is. Homosexualism it neither about the genes nor a way they are born.

It is a behavioral disorder sorta like an alcoholism and addiction to gambling.

Some of them are getting there on their own, others (most of them) are taught this way since the early age by adult perverts. MSM and pop culture does a lot to aid their recruitment as far as being a homosexual is kinda ‘cool’ today.

Exactly.
I’ve always struggled buying the statement that it was genetic. It seems to be in direct contradiction with Darwinian law. Not being able to pass your genetic material over time is a genetic death sentence; no matter how strong, intelligent, or fast you are. Even if it was genetic, one would think that the carriers of it would have died out over time, because it is so useless to the evolution of the species. Just like tails are to us now.
That is of course, if the theory of evolution is true. I’m just pointing out the contradiction in logic.

Throw in some emotional trauma, lack of morals, drugs and possibly a weak personality and you’d be surprised what can happen.

Throw in sexual abuse during childhood or adolescents. That is the main reason the Pink Swastikas are going after our children.

The clitoris is the same structure as the penis.

This is actually NOT true. The clitoris does have erectile tissue similar to that found in the penis, but it does not have the same function in the body as the penis. The penis is not only the sexual organ of the male, but it is also the location of the urethra which carries urine to the outside of the body. The clitoris is located in the vulva close to the urethra, but the two do not have the same structural relationship as the penis and the urethra.

On the specific subject of this thread, I have never believed that there was a gene for homosexuality. Up until the advent of modern fertility techniques, there was no way a truly gay man could produce offspring with a true lesbian woman. If there ever was such a gene, it could not be passed on to the next generation and would therefore die out.

I have to agree with those on this thread that think that liberals will not accept the results of this excellent study any more than they accept that AGW does not exist. If it wasn't so sad, it would be funny that many liberals label conservatives as being uneducated or unscientific when they are the ones who blindly accept whatever the liberal mantra of the day happens to be.

I agree, but I did get a chuckle out of that. Imagine pointing that out to the liberal Animist. Homosexuality is not genetically possible without violating the primary law of liberalism.

This would be the equivalent of the original Star Trek Nomad meltdown in the The Chaneling.

The science on homosexuals will not be conclusive for a long time. It will be likely decades before any evidence comes up that allows us to determine how many gays were homosexual by birth, how many actively chose it, how many were brought into it by homosexuals in their lives and how many were because of early childhood experiences, and how many are homosexual because of some combination of the above.

Of course, one should be able to effectively argue against messing with the millenia old definition of marriage and a special system of rights for homosexuals without trying to argue that being gay is curable for all, or even a vast majority, of homosexuals. For some of the homosexuals, yes they can get leave it. But we shouldn’t have to be arguing that *all* of them can leave it in order to argue effectively against the homosexual agenda. Start with the acknowledgement that there are many kinds of disorders and disabilities and behavior mannerisms people are often born with but that this still does not justify giving them special rights and that even then it shouldn’t justify giving free passes for obscene, destructive behavior. That seems to be the best starting points for arguments against got’v redefinition of marriage and other key issues.

It is all worldview-—cultural/pagan/occult/atheist. Samurai were 100% homosexual-—where little boys are trained in sodomy and warfare-—same with the Ancient Greeks/Romans/Asians. Behaviors are learned. Abnormal behaviors-—like homosexuality has to be caused by perverting a little kids worldview-—warping the way they see men and women. It is always abuse—mostly physical but always emotional, too.

Segregated societies like in Afghanistan condition “hate” for the “other”and the men target young boys for recreation. That is because they want to be “manly”—dominant. All homosexual cultures target boys.

Fr. Oko’s report on “Homoheresy” talks about this necessary aspect of homosexuality-—it is an immaturity—a fixation in the Latency period....where the mature act of appreciation of the opposite sex can not occur. They have no interest in spending time with females——just like the Ancient Greeks-—it was only for the purpose of breeding that they had anything to do with women.

It is easy to warp and pervert children-—they are extremely vulnerable. Our schools are warping the moral foundation of children, making them easy victims for homosexuals and promiscuity. Schools are normalizing homosexuality like it is in all pagan/occult/atheist societies. Boys are always the target. http://www.examiner.com/article/afghan-pedophilia-a-way-of-life-say-u-s-soldiers-and-journalists

Considering how likely it is that identical twins have similar experiences (being in the same families), these numbers are striking and suggest that such life decisions happen later in development than one might suspect.

Being “Gay” (homosexual) isn’t something that you are, it’s something that you do.(Chip Ingram)

It’s a CHOICE. To be or not to be (gay), that is the question.

There is NO EVIDENCE that being gay is genetic.

“Born this way” is a MYTH.

Now if you are gay and looking for fresh meat for hot deviant sex, would you try to convince someone with same sex tendencies or cultural emotional problems that they were “Born that way”? That it’s “normal”?

Being gay is so sweet. I mean who doesn’t want to be intimate in dirty bathrooms and roadside rest stops. For more excitement have sex with HIV positive partners. What a RUSH!

It isn’t COOL, it’s disgusting.

Yes, I understand all that. I agree that children's minds can be twisted and perverted, but it's also true that some people are just born with crossed wiring.

Before Europeans arrived in America, most Native American tribes let those types dress as women, and do women's work. It's a mental illness that has appeared in human cultures throughout history.

Personally, I think our own culture hit its high water mark (with regards to homos) when we allowed them to live peacefully, as long as they kept their perversions to themselves. Once western cultures began caving in to their demands to display their perversions openly, and to be 'normalized', we started ratcheting downwards rapidly.

It actually is the same structure, differentiated of course.

At first glance the placement of the urethra does seem odd. But there are some facts that clear it all up somewhat.

The urethra in both male and female runs from the bladder to a spot on the perineum. In the female the urethra exits at this point. In the male the urethra continues on from this point to the end of the penis.

The urethra does not however go through the center of the penis, it is just barely beneath the skin on the underside. In the erect penis the urethra is readily discerned just beneath the skin on the underside. So ingrained is the notion that it should be in the center that most anatomical drawings falsely depict it at the center.

If a catheter is passed through the penis to the bladder you can feel the catheter just beneath the skin from the penis all the way to the point on the perineum where it enters the body on its way to the bladder. This entry point is at the same location in males and females.

In female to male reassignment some patients opt for no bottom surgery at all. Some opt for a messy construction of a penis using tissue from the forearm. Some opt to just pass off a testosterone enlarged clitoris as a miniscule penis.

The problem of the clitoris as a penis is the urethra. I believe it is generally left in place further down on the perineum... this seems totally unsatisfactory to me.

I'm not certain if this is ever done but since the urethra does not need to go through the center of the penis but can be placed just beneath the skin on the underside (as in the male) and the urethra is close to the skin surface all the way from the perineum to the end of the penis it seems like a simple surgical procedure could patch things up nicely.

If I were to work up a procedure I would think that a small incision could be made from the end of the enlarged clitoris to a point about a centimeter down on the underside. Then a shallow incision line could be made from that point down to the urethral exit on the perineum. Passing a pediatric size catheter (say about 12 Fr) through the opening at the end of the penis and then laying it into the incision and finally inserting through to the bladder should make a functioning penis with a urethral opening at the end after the incision line was closed over the catheter and healing takes place.

The tricky part would be not damaging the nerves going to the sensitive tissue at the end of the enlarged clitoris.

One thing is certain. Male to female plumbing changes are much easier to do than the reverse.

Sorry for explaining this is such gruesome detail. I just wanted to explain that the differentiation of the male penis and enlarged female clitoris is only a matter of a urethral channel that is just barely beneath the skin and is not a major difference.

Thanks for the clarification! I was not thinking about the developmental anatomy of the two structures, but of the relationship between the two in an adult. I have been teaching anatomy in a community college for over 25 years, and I cannot tell you the number of male (and even female) students that I have had that believe that there are only two openings in the perinium in both sexes. I guess they think that the female urinates through the vagina! The way your first response read, someone might think that the clitoris would develop into a functioning penis if an adult female started taking testosterone which, of course, would not occur without surgery.

Anatomy is a wonderful subject. Teaching it seems like it would be rewarding and fun :-)

There were some studies done with identical twins reared apart, as when one is adopted at birth. I believe they showed a very slight positive correlation, possibly nearly identical to the incidence in the population in general, but I’ll never be able to find the studies now.

Although they have done their best to kill it, love of family is still understood but charity and love of friends have been successfully scrubbed from societal understanding.

Yep. The concept of fraternity, of "brotherhood" has been largely lost by many who haven't seen the elephant in one way or another. This is just one more reason why open homos in the military is a really bad idea.

It is, but my first love is Microbiology. I am the Program Director of the Medical Laboratory Technology Department where I teach both Clinical Microbiology and Hematology/Coagulation. I also teach general biology and College Student Success. They certainly get their money's worth out of the instructors in the community college system! :)

This thread brings me back. When I was 25 got diagnosed with hyperandrogenism. Because after I delivered my child at 18 I started to develop facial hair and so went to the doc. Admittedly my libido was a little higher than normal when I was younger, what they used to call “boy crazy” I guess. There was acne too before that, Accutane took care of it for the most part but not totally. I’d tried the drug aldactone which most women with PCOS and androgen sensitivies do well on but of course I did not and it almost gave me heart failure. So the alternative was prostate cancer drugs and those scared the heck out of me so derm prescribed Tetracycline. Allergic. Basically there was nothing I could do about it except hair removal. So to this day I shave daily. Doesn’t take too long maybe 10 seconds. but lemme tell ya in my 20’s and into 30’s it didn’t matter how many people said you’re beautiful and nuts for being insecure I still knew my little secret, that I’m a woman who could grow a little beard if I chose too and therefor I’m “less than” other women. Not truly worthy of a man of my choice. Anyways my grown daughter has some of the same issues and yet we’re both hetero even with the elevated male hormone.

God bless you and your daughter :-)

The body hair problem can be painful for a woman.
A great many women have this common complaint. Many have enlarged Adam’s Apples... this is also disconcerting.
(Ann Coulter seems to have a bit of an Adam’s Apple.. she is still quite lovely though!)

Modern laser hair removal might be a good option for you.

Male pattern baldness can also be a problem in some women with androgen sensitivity....

A few years back they considered prescribing testosterone patches for women who wanted to temporarily raise their libido. This was one of the goofiest ideas I had ever heard! Thank God someone came to their senses and decided it was ill-advised.

The level of testosterone does not alter sexual preference.
It does alter libido though.

What difference does it make if it’s “genetic”?

1) If it's genetic it takes a load of blame and personal responsibility off the shoulders of homosexuals.

2) If it's genetic and not developmental then homosexuals are good to go to be around and raise children, join the Scouts, serve in the military, be teachers, be featured in movies and TV shows, etc.

IMO 90% of Homosexuals have had a traumatic sexual experience as a child or a mother or father who pointed them in that direction.

Post traumatic stress followed by gender identity disorder.

Nails it. 100% spot on.

This can be treated. This can be cured.

It is indicative of the most inhumane and cruel traits of mankind that some folks don't recognize this and deprive their brothers and sisters of the help they need.
