CA:Why hasn’t the left tried to exploit the Santa Monica shootings?

We see it time and time again: Every time some madman opens fire on innocent people the Democrats almost immediately use the tragedy to push for gun control laws and the all too willing media quickly jump on board to begin pushing the government’s propaganda. Where most of us see tragedy the left sees opportunity.

We saw it with the Virginia Tech shooting, and we saw it when Gabby Giffords was shot, and we saw it when a madman opened fire in a Colorado movie theater. Most recently we saw it in the Newtown school shooting so I fully expected we would once again see it when a man opened fire in Santa Monica the other day and killed five people.

In fact I thought they would go even further than that because I expected to hear the left blame the Republicans and the conservatives in the Congress for the shooting because they failed to pass gun control legislation in the wake of the Newtown shooting, but to this point–with the exception of Henry Waxman–we haven’t heard a word about it and I found that to be quite curious indeed. It isn’t like the left to let a good crisis go to waste, so why are they not speaking out and trying to exploit this shooting?

It turns out the shooter’s name was John Zawahri, he is of Middle Eastern descent (reportedly Lebanese) and his next of kin all happen to be out of the country at this time. That is all we know about Zawahri at this point, we do not know if he was a Muslim and we do not know the motive although it is being reported it was possibly over the divorce of his parents.

Could it really be so simple? Is the mere fact that this man may have been a Muslim enough to silence the left and the media and stop them from once again exploiting a shooting for political purposes? Could it be true that the left isn’t interested in exploiting this story because of the slight possibility that this shooting could be tied to the religion of peace they are afraid if they do so they would unwittingly shine a light on a problem they refuse to believe still exists? After all, this is the regime that classified the Fort Hood shooting as workplace violence in order to hide from the truth.

It is not a good time to deploy the “You can trust us” line...

Why the MSM aren't saying anything about the Santa Monica shootings: Multiple murders + Muslim perp = Total news blackout (including law enforcement).

I was also wondering about the silence from the left. You hit the nail on the head: It is a “protected” class (most likely muslime) that committed the crime, therefore, can’t make a big deal over this because the left knows the people would focus on the muslime killing innocents rather than the weapons used.

Heck, the left is probably happy he used a gun since they don’t have to deal with the usual cowardly muslime way of bombing.

Yeah, but all they have to do is say that he was complaining about the long line in the cafeteria -

“all o’ you at the snack bar!”

They are afraid there will be an uprising against mosques if they push it too hard.

That's it exactly. True in the United States, true in Great Britain.

According to twitchy.com, Melissa Gilbert blamed it all on the NRA, but that’s about all I’ve seen so far.

Part of it could be the name, but it could partially be the timing and the type of tragedy.

The timing is good for them because emotions are still raw over their attempted exploitation of the Newtown shootings and because there weren’t as many killed and they weren’t the proper kind of victims or something..

But one thing occurred to me in regards to this latest ‘serious crisis’
{Y’all will have to excuse whilst I wander a little off-topic}

Why is it that these ‘serious crisis’ are always an opportunity for the gun grabbers to push their civilian disarmament agenda?

But similar stories that point to the positive uses of firearms never seem to be a rallying point push back on people control?

We’ve all seen the reports of law-abiding citizens using guns to save lives and stop crimes – WHY CAN’T WE USE THOSE REPORTS TO PUSH BACK ON PEOPLE CONTROL? (sorry for ‘yelling’ but this is starting to really tick me off)

Those of us on the Pro-liberty side of the equation have to sit back and wait for the inevitable calls for People control after each mass shooting and the accompanying incremental lose of more freedom with incident.

Well, I say we should push back against this tyranny from the gun-grabbers.

We should be out that pushing for the elimination of previous infringements on our right of self-defense (from tyrants and criminals) with each incident that shows that guns saves lives!

If an innocent citizen saves lives or stops a crime with a gun, we should be touting that as a reason to loosen restrictions on guns.

I’m sick and tired of this constant grinding away at our freedom from the authoritarian states from the Left with each ‘crisis’ they exploit – it’s time we push back on our own.

The other can of worms the Left doesn’t want to open is that this guy was reportedly mentally ill and thus a “prohibited person” under both Federal and California law. The law was supposed to “prevent” him from getting the guns in the first place. Obviously, it didn’t. Of course, we know that it couldn’t have done so anyway; laws are reactive, not proactive. But the Left advertises their gun laws as preventative measures. They really don’t want to explore stories that demonstrate the failures of the policies they pushed that couldn’t have worked anyway.

The gun used was banned in 1989.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roberti-Roos_Assault_Weapons_Control_Act_of_1989

The term assault weapon means the following designated semiautomatic firearms as defined by Penal Code section 30510:
(a) All of the following specified rifles:

(1) All AK series including, but not limited to, the models identified as follows:

(A) Made in China AK, AKM, AKS, AK47, AK47S, 56, 56S, 84S, and 86S.
(B) Norinco 56, 56S, 84S, and 86S.
(C) Poly Technologies AKS and AK47.
(D) MAADI AK47 and ARM.

(2) IMI UZI and Galil.
(3) Beretta AR-70.
(4) CETME Sporter.
(5) Colt AR-15 series.

ZA WA HIRI

Apparently a person from a place, not a religious label. Earlier posts from a person who knows the family said they are Lebanese Christinos. If you have P R O O F that this guy is a muslim, then offer it. Otherwise, learn how to pronounce B E N Z O D I A Z E P I N E S.

This is Big Pharma profitability stuff that needs cover-up, as in A D A M L A N Z A -- not coverup for islam, which Lanza was not.

I believe you may be far off-track. This is about being sued because of undermining Big Pharma's failing but obscenely profitable war on "mental disease" with happy pills.

If you want to face reality in detail, go here: ARMY WARNS DOCTORS AGAINST USING CERTAIN DRUGS IN PTSD TREATMENT

Excerpt:

"An April 10 policy memo that the Army Medical Command released regarding the diagnosis and treatment of PTSD said a class of drugs known as benzodiazepines, which include Xanax and Valium, could intensify rather than reduce combat stress symptoms and lead to addiction."

Add to this list Seroquel and Risperidone anti-psychotics.

You are certain the shooter was under the influence of drugs? Any confirmation yet? [I have wondered how many of these mass shootings were caused by people under psychoactive drugs.]

No, I am not certain, as I (like you) await more facts. However, from the history of other such massacres, and considering that this shooter is said to have a history of mental problems, it would seem extremely likely. Clearly, this fellow was bent on seeking suicide by cop.

[I have wondered how many of these mass shootings were caused by people under psychoactive drugs.]

In most of these, drug-induced violence and suicide have been prominent, as we have seen by many past lengthy FR discussions. But the medical records of many of these have not become a part of the public record. One suspects the reason is because of tacit suppression by the drug companies.

“One suspects the reason is because of tacit suppression by the drug companies.”

Or, to push the gun control agenda of the Left, politicians, and MSM. It isn't a good idea to advertise that this crazy killer was the best customer of “Dr. Feel Good” or local dope supplier. Notice that no mention is ever made of the perp’s previous drug use or abuse.

Well, there are people who are so addicted to stuff like BZDs (Xanax, lorazepam, diazepam) but can't get it prescribed for them, so they find ways to buy it off the street; but that's not what I was referring to. Why I responded with the Army Surgeons' warnings is because the violence/suicide results seem to cling to the shooting crazes. If the findings really seem to be causitive, and if I had the whole population and general practitioners sold on the idea that the "cure" for mental disorders is prescriptive and no longer so consultative, and if my product was just obscenely profitable, wouldn't I want the bad news tamped down, and help direct the reporters to a more "popular" solution?

I think I'm just restating what you already said, and, yes--drug companies might take it real personal, maybe.

You know of Robert Whittaker and his "Anatomy of an Epidemic: Magic Bullets, Psychiatric Drugs, and the Astonishing Rise of Mental Illness in America -- ? You can find it at Amazon. You know of Erica Carle? Her writings, particularly SHOOTING RAMPAGES: WHY DO CHILDREN KILL? which os a little different slant--not quite so drug-oriented. But I don't know what happened to her.

One thing that has always bothered me is this culture of drugging people. We start in schools with ADD and ADHD drugs and then it gets worse when we continue the practice when people become adults. “Better things for better living through creative chemistry” is NOT a good thing because all drugs have side effects. These side effects over time can be deadly. Time is long past that this country needs a significant look at the drugging of large numbers of the population.

This is directly addressed by Whittaker's "Anatomy ..." and "Mad in America." People have tried to shoot him down, but they can't. I'm sure you'd be interested in the dynamics of Big Pharma, their fame-seeking private practice puppets, the FDA, and the numbers of shut-down state mental institutions. A mental cesspool.

Somebody really needs to ferret out the facts of what is happening. But please take a look at whatever you can find out from Whittaker. This book was originally given to me by one of the people mentioned in it. Really opened my eyes.
