Gabriel Gomez mocks Democrats' negative ads with "toilet seat" response

Republican Senate candidate Gabriel Gomez has released a new statewide television ad mocking Democratic candidate Edward Markey for the negative ads that Democrats have launched against Gomez.

The Gomez ad begins with shots from an ad released recently by the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. The DSCC ad attacked Gomez for his stances on tax policy and health care, arguing that his positions would hurt retirees and deprive people of health care coverage.

The Gomez ad mocks that perception. “Gabriel Gomez is a very bad man,” the ad’s announcer states. “He kills old people. He hates women.” The ad then flashes to a picture of an open toilet. “He even leaves the toilet seat up,” it says.

“This is ridiculous,” the ad’s announcer continues. “Congressman Markey must think we’re stupid.” The ad then goes on to hit Markey for voting in favor of congressional pay raises and for taking money from special interests, including industries he regulates.

Gomez and Markey are competing in a June 25 special election for U.S. Senate.

The satirical ad points to the fact that the campaigns are growing increasingly negative in the final weeks, particularly as national Republicans and Democrats are getting involved on behalf of their candidates.

DSCC spokesman Justin Barasky responded, "Gabe Gomez's new attack ad is a desperate attempt to distract from the fact that in tonight's debate he continued his embrace of national Republican policies and proved that he will go to Washington to stand shoulder to shoulder with Mitch McConnell in the GOP’s effort to obstruct President Obama’s agenda."

The Gomez campaign released the ad after the candidates met for their second debate Tuesday night in Springfield. The ad will begin airing on Wednesday – the same day Democratic President Barack Obama plans to campaign with Markey in Roxbury.

Obama is popular in Massachusetts. Gomez responded to the Obama visit by releasing a letter after the debate inviting Obama to join him at a veterans’ town hall after the Markey event. “Should I be fortunate enough to be elected as the next Senator from Massachusetts, I look forward to working with you to represent all the people of Massachusetts,” Gomez wrote in the letter. “Where we disagree, I will reach across the aisle and work to find common ground with you, and with my fellow members of Congress.”

I was going to sit this election out because Gomez is a worthless RINO and the repubican establishment manipulated him into the nomination. And he supports the Amnesty bill. But, with all this spying crap, I have to do what I can to prevent ANOTHER militant progressive leftist from getting into the Senate.

So I'll be voting for him on the 25th. And I think he's convinced a lot of us to do the same, not because of who he is necessarily, but who his opponent is.

> Gomez is a worthless RINO

Bears repeating.

Gomez is a worthless RINO
Gomez is a worthless RINO
Gomez is a worthless RINO
Gomez is a worthless RINO
Gomez is a worthless RINO
Gomez is a worthless RINO
Gomez is a worthless RINO

... but I don’t think the GOP will get it.

he will go to Washington to stand shoulder to shoulder with Mitch McConnell in the GOP’s effort to obstruct President Obama’s agenda.

If only he'd actually do that, and if we had some more GOP Senators who'd do that, we'd be much better off. Except for the fact that it's Mass. I'm not sure why this is seen as a negative.

The only benefit to a Gomez victory would be to get the people of Massachusetts used to voting for republicans, especially for Federal offices. We had sixteen straight years of republican governors. But Kennedy and Kerry had a stranglehold on the senate seats. With them gone, the people are free to vote for somebody else.

If Scott Brown had actually voted as a conservative (since he was going to be portrayed as a right wing extremist anyway so might as well go for broke) he could have beaten Warren. But he decided to be a nicey nicey moderate, positioning himself politically and he positioned himself right out of office, because a lot of us stayed home.

If Gomez does the same, we can primary him next year.

I'm confused, Justin. Is that supposed to be a bad thing?

"effort to obstruct President Obama’s agenda."

If he did that, he would have very few there to stand with....they're all a bunch of RINO's.

Markey’s about as far left as they come. He would make Stalin blush.

Markey filed his income taxes in Maryland. That means he only pays the 2% state income tax. Unlike the 5.3% tax I pay to live two blocks away from him.

‘Pro-life’ Gomez regularly makes fun of Markey for once voting against Roe v. Wade. Gomez says Roe v. Wade is established law. He’s ‘pro-life’ but is comfortable living in a country where killing the most innocent and defenseless is just fine. I hope Gomez gets wiped out (I will NOT vote for him) and a message is sent for the sake of the 2014 elections that we are done being the frog in the slowly heating water.

I think I get it now. It’s a bad thing for an opposition party to oppose the agenda of a President from the other party if and only if that President is a Democrat. If the President is a Republican, then opposing his agenda is patriotic. At least that’s what I saw on the completely fair and balanced, nonbiased, newscasts on NBC, CBS, ABC, etc.
