(The 1-Y classification denoted persons "qualified for service only in time of war or national emergency" and was generally assigned to registrants who had exhibited medical conditions that were limiting but not disabling). After the 1-Y classification was eliminated at the end of 1971, Nugent was reclassified as 4-F.
So, Ted Nugent did have a student deferment for part of the time he was eligible for the draft, but he did also fail a physical examination and receive a medical exemption. Without more details about the results of that physical examination, however, we can't ascertain how much it may match or depart from the account Nugent gave to High Times back in 1977.

Doesn’t sound to me like he actively avoided service in Vietnam, just that he didn’t seek it out. Clinton took specific, deceptive actions to keep himself from being drafted.

No, there is no evidence that Nugent deceived anyone except the High Times reporter. If he purposely enrolled in school to avoid the draft that doesn’t bother me.
I hypothesize that the original simply has no father’s name, and that it likely says “Male, Dunham” or “Baby Boy Dunham” for his name.
You would think that he would want no father listed as it would make him a virgin birth in the eyes of the law, so he could pretend to be even MORE like the Jesus the liberal media portrays him as!!!!

Me neither... with what I read of the interview with the reporter, Ted makes himself sound like he tried avoiding Vietnam more than he really did. As for going to school to avoid the draft... no biggie to me either... it was a legal path and he took it.

Lolo Soetoro adopted Obama. As a result of the adoption proceeding, Obama’s original long form BC was sealed and archived in Hawaii. A new COLB was created by order of the Court. Obama’s original BC has “date accepted” by the registrar on it. This means the registrar accepted the attestation of the mother, delivery doctor and hospital administrator as to the veracity of the information claimed on the BC application.
An adoption is indicated when you find a “date filed” by the registrar on a COLB. Further proof of adoption is obtained by examining Barry Soetoro’s Indonesian school enrollment form.
In 1971, Barry Soetoro returned to Hawaii alone. He was not whisked through customs with a hope and a prayer that the 10 year old Indonesian boy was not the victim of child trafficking. Rather, Customs officials took Barry into protective custody. Barry’s mom flew to Hawaii in October of 1971 on an expired passport to straightened everything out.
Unfortunately for Stanley Ann, the Court decided to strip Stanley Ann and Lolo Soetoro of their parental rights with regard to their son. The Soetoro adoption was annulled, Barry’s name was changed back to Barack Obama II and Catholic Social Services of Connecticut was granted legal custody of Barack. Catholic Social Services of Connecticut asked the Court to appoint Obama’s grandmother, Madelyn Payne Dunham, as his guardian.
It was Catholic Social Services of Connecticut that applied for Obama’s SSN on his behalf. Consequently, he has a Connecticut based SSN. In 1979, Obama reached the age of majority and Obama was released from legal custody of Catholic Social Services of Connecticut.
