You have missed the point of my post. There are bad apples in every vocation, and you are right, cops do carry guns. But that doesn’t mean all cops are bad like so many FReepers illogically ascribe them to be.

Same thing happened to my buddy’s wife. A few weeks later, they busted the perps, who still had some of the valuables in their possession. My buddy asked if the LEO’s would be apologizing to his wife, any time, soon. That was last year, still waiting . . .
