See Post 40.

There are some choice adjectives I could use right now to let you know how I feel about your statement, but I won't.

Really???? All the contractors at Grissom are still working. That comes as a shock to me. I’d like to know why your husband can’t work.

Your story is typical of private sector employees in today’s economy. So you do get it. There is a problem, though, with the media portraying federal employees mostly as victims. And it will only get worse unless something can be done to prevent Obamacare from taking full effect.

Yes, I do get it, and I appreciate that you realized that (more than you know, trust me).

I've been down and out, almost killed in a car accident, scraping by day to day, never living high on the hog, driving 16 and 18 year old cars, and watched as others around me promote into higher paying positions because they kiss a$$ and not because of their actual skills or knowledge. I've watched other people get jobs I can do only because they're of the "in crowd."

Heck, one current federal employee in my building got his job only because someone in my office sent him the "core doc," what is actually called the "position description." Yep, they sent him the document that told him what the job entailed so he could change his resume to match it and get on the list of potential hirees. So not only is management unethical, but they are corrupt as well (and these are supposed "Christian" gentlemen).

I think I will always be a GS-04 because I tell management that they suck at their jobs, that they are unethical, unprofessional, and that they are wrong to fill the positions through cronyism and nepotism, two concepts that are illegal to use within the federal employment system.

I'm not bitter, am I???

I guess to you school children and vets are vandals? If vandalism happens regardless whether the government is shutdown or not why are we paying rangers?

The military is considered essential. Anything done to them is political to community agitate fear.

The Army/Navy game is actually ran by a private foundation. Only a moron would believe they have to cancel it due to the “shut down”.

“Obama loses his mind for 800k government workers ignoring the other 15 million unemployed citizens.”

One can hope that “his nibs” fully reach such a point!
Then he will be UNFIT FOR OFFICE!!

Some may be dealing with cash flow if they live check to check but I thought the level of attention being given to this special class of workers is not right without mentioning the other unemployed. When it suits them they talk about improving unemployment rates e.g. 7.3%....like it’s so good....but they labor over the 800,000 number like they are in a much more dire situation....and no mention of the 15+ million others. If the president and congress were having daily press conferences and showed the same rabid concern for the 15 million others, then things might have been much better for the country a long time ago.
