McGrath: “Somebody In Government Is Afraid Of What Is Coming”
SHTF Plan ^ | 10/9/13 | Mac Slavo

Posted on 10/09/2013 8:18:30 PM PDT by Kartographer

We’re talking scenarios much more severe than the Great Depression.

But this isn’t just happening in America. Switzerland recently engaged in war games that simulated an economic collapse scenario, as well as an invasion by bankrupted nations and millions of refugees. In 2011, the British government developed plans to evacuate their citizens from European countries in expectation of monetary and economic crisis.

The exercises and drills may be compartmentalized so that most who are partaking in them don’t really know why, but there are those in the higher echelons of power that know very well what the end game is going to be.

None of this is a coincidence.

If you aren’t taking steps to prepare for a new paradigm – one plagued with destitution, riots, starvation and bloodshed – then you are going to be a victim of what’s coming.

Gordon Brown is right. When the economic system breaks down or the dollar collapses food, fuel, and medicine will be nearly impossible to acquire. The experience of Greeks, who saw this first hand, is a perfect example.

The only option for the government at that point will be to control the looting and violence that follows by declaring Martial Law and locking this country down.

Unfortunately, it is difficult to take something called shtf.com reliable. It sort of does reek of someone who desperately wants to believe things are going to hell.

Not saying for sure that the fit won’t hit the shan in our lifetime. No, not at all. But reports like this don’t come off as particularly reliable even relative to our beyond atrocious MSM.

There’s a Great Storm coming everyone is feeling it and its one of the reason everyone is on edge. Deep down the alarm bells are ring the nerves on on edge and the mind is unsettled.

Its your choice you can prep or you can stand around on a bridge waiting for FEMA to bring you a bottle of water, a MRE, a warm blanket and a kiss for your boo-boo and maybe you can even get your picture as you stand there on the national news.

Any one with half a brain can look around and see for themselves what is happening right before their eyes.

So listen to what the bible says: A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge, but the simple keep going and suffer for it. NIV Proverbs 22:3

One of the things Selco covers in this article is the fact that many will not accept that a breakdown is occurring even as they watch it happening before their eyes. Why don’t they realize it? It’s caused by a condition called ‘Normalcy Bias’ a mental state people enter when facing a disaster.

It causes people to underestimate both the possibility of a disaster occurring and its possible effects. This often results in situations where people fail to adequately prepare for a disaster, and on a larger scale, the failure of governments to include the populace in its disaster preparations. The assumption that is made in the case of the normalcy bias is that since a disaster never has occurred then it never will occur. It also results in the inability of people to cope with a disaster once it occurs. People with a normalcy bias have difficulties reacting to something they have not experienced before. People also tend to interpret warnings in the most optimistic way possible, seizing on any ambiguities to infer a less serious situation.

A good article on ‘Normalcy Bias’ is on our own ChocChipCookies Blog The Survival Mom:

http://thesurvivalmom.com/2010/12/29/normalcy-bias/

You either prepare and stand on your own beholden to no one or you become dependent on others to provide your basic needs and become their ‘serf’. Me I don’t want to be beholden to anyone for providing what is needed for me and mine. I certainly don’t want to have to kiss some ‘gubberment’ third class bureaucratic to try and coax some help from them, I don’t want some ‘jack booted’ thug herding me in line and telling me where to stand, sit, eat or sleep. And last but not least I don’t want to be shut up in with a bunch of ‘zombies’ and have to worry about not only trying to get basic necessities but having to fight to keep what I manage to get.

http://tomeaker.com/kart/Preparedness1j.pdf NOTE! THIS IS A FREE DOWNLOAD. I DO NOT MAKE ONE CENT OFF MY PREPAREDNESS MANUAL!

For those of you who haven’t started already it’s time to prepare almost past time maybe. You needed to be stocking up on food guns, ammo, basic household supplies like soap, papergoods, cleaning supplies, good sturdy clothes including extra socks, underwear and extra shoes and boots, cash (I myself have been putting up change for the past few years both for the metal content and the fact that using change to make what purchases you can will move you down the the list of possible marks during shtf), tools, things you buy everyday start buying two and put one up.

As the LDS say “When the emergency is upon us the time for preparedness has past.”

Again I like to recomend FReeper’s ChocoChipCookie Blog The Survival Mom (Please Blog Police let this one slide!) Where you can get lots of useful information like:

http://thesurvivalmom.com/2011/11/20/8-morale-boosters-for-any-worst-case-scenario/

http://thesurvivalmom.com/2010/02/02/survival-priorities-the-rule-of-three/

And More

Also there is Ferfal’s Blog a survivor of Argentina’s first collapse:

And there is Selco’s Blog a Bosnian War survivor at:

“There is no greater disaster than to underestimate danger. Underestimation can be fatal.”

Say SS stays ok, but, some of the welfare benefits for the 47% go away. You may have to fight them at your door if they decide to try and take their entitlements directly.

No, the "last to fail" will be money allocated for law enforcement and the military (the part that can deal with an insurrection, not the f-22s).

Alex ,.. you can trust the government . It's not like they would lie to you , .. in your face !
Yes, Social Security was a 'trust fund ', and now it is as trustworthy as the administration , itself .
Now it is called 'wealth re-distribution ', with equal distribution for all those who never put money into the trust fund
.. and you helped to support them , and will contnue to do so in the future !
Why ... that's the Socialist /Commie way of equality !!, .. until they run out of other people money .. /sarc

I worry more about a big war—like WW III. This could be the worst of all scenes for me—and the worst would be a Civil War/Race War as they have had in other places. It feels like something is building up that will see a masive die off! If one looks at history it will be caused by starvation and disease more than bullets or radiation. What happens when all the store are looted and empty and the massses leave the city? More like a Zombi Senario!

No, I put no trust in today’s US Marxist government.
The loss of Social Security would be somewhat of a setback, but I would survive.
The cost of living here is next to nothing. For example, my son was in the hospital for three days with an infection. The total cost was about $60, after our insurance that cost about $6 per month. Imagine what that cost would be in the US.

News flash, Social Security is already failing thanks to helicopter Ben and all the QEs. You have already received a defacto cut to Social Security.

I am on Social Security, and I guaran-darn-tee that the check even with the additional COLAs doesn't buy as much food as it did at the beginning of 2008.

I prepare first for the most likely things. Here in tornado alley we have lots of electrical outages, so I am well prepared for those type of emergencies.

When the first spike in oil prices occurred, I began buying lots of extra groceries on sale. Stuff that is shelf stable that we use all the time. Having lived through the great inflation of the nixon/carter years, I remembered very well how the oil spike impacted my budget, and the empty store shelves that followed Nixon's price controls. To me this was just a logical-likely scenario to happen again.

One of the most successful things this time, was that I bought up lots and lots of Peanut Butter first thing-good protein loved by all the picky eaters in my family, plus there was a crop issue likely to shrink supply. Within months the peanut butter I bought for slightly less than a buck went up to $2.25.

All along I have replenished the supply just a little during sales. Now it is down to $1.89 normal price. Had a sale this past week for $1.38. This is the cheapest price since mid-2008. I bought a case. I am now restocked for normal use of 2 years. Beyond that, I might not be able to use it up by the expiry date plus 6 months.

One of the most sure things that will happen to current retirees of modest/middle income is inflation. Even at only 3% inflation, many people have trouble being able to afford to provide the necessities of life during their final decade.

At my age, I can buy those #10 cans of basics that will last for 10 to 30 years, and be sure that I will have good food to eat, and my gardening experiences are teaching me that I can grow plenty of stuff to add to these staples.

I don't necessarily think of this as prepping. Just a way of life, and intelligent financial planning that can be helpful for anyone.

You don't have to believe in SHTF or Armageddon around the corner to know that you need to prepare for more than the 3 days, 2 weeks, and 3 months that even the government and media tells you to do.

My best buys this month so far. Coffee in 34 oz cans for $3.25 per can. The cheapest price for this brand was June 2008 when there was a sale for 5 bucks. I bought a year's supply to add to what I already had. Canned veggies for 38 cents per can. I bought a case of several types to add to the current supply.

Sugar that is normally more than $2.00 I got for $1.69. Added 6 bags to my supply. This sugar has not had a special lower than 1.99 for at least 3 years. Started stocking in cocoa and chocolate the last 2 weeks.

There has been a crop failure and chocolate is likely to go up by December-already reflected in the commodities market. I already have some stocked, but not much comparatively speaking. Now it's a bit higher on the priority list of food stocks.

Well, anyway that's my thoughts and JMHO.

No, old boy, I am not really worried. I can still live without SS, but I may have to give up my red wine :(.

Welcome to the “dog in a manger gang”. They hate my guts because I am not enduring their pain. Civilization exceeds by those who are not subject to the status quo. You must also hate the founding fathers that left their countries.
I do not brag about anything. I simply point out that there is life beyond the Obamination.
No doubt, you prefer the Communist way..shoot people that try to escape. I saw the gun ramps in Slovakia, where they shot people swimming the Danube to freedom in Austria
By the way, you and your pals have yet to define “fight”.
Can you come up with something better then spit balls and childish post on forums?
I love America as it was founded. I do not love the people that elected the Commie, and re-elected him.
They are not from my ancestry, Uncle Sam, 1812

Can you tell me how you are fighting the Obamination?
No you can not, but I do far more by explaining to foreigners just how filthy and disgusting Obumbo is.
I still vote, and I am doing far more then you are.

I know, you are really upset that I do not feel your pain.
Now, go suck an egg, then get back to me.
