Thinking about moving SOuth - anyone who can provide suggestions?

Posted on 10/15/2013 9:47:23 PM PDT by freedom462

So I am thinking of simply leaving the job I work at now and heading to a Southern state, Texas, North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Northern Florida, Tennessee, etc since I figure that, since I am one of those who does not have a reliable source of family aid of any kind, that this could be my only option.

I am considering finding a church that has a sort of communal living situation, a farm, ranch, factory or other such source that could use additional workers and join one of them. I am thinking of it in light of a situation where there is such severe disaster than there are no jobs in the schools, restaurants - presuming they'd be out of business since noone could eat out anymore, malls, universities, hospitals, not to mention no engineering jobs of any kind either, unless they required another degree (which in theory I would not get since all the schools would no longer have any money).

So I am thinking of places such as what I listed above as places to start a new life in preparation for the possibility that all other work options are simply gone because the crisis got so severe and as a way to ensure I can have a community I can survive with, since my only other option would be to try and survive as a homeless person at this point.

Does anyone on FR have a sort of church based or other type of communal living situation, a farm, ranch or non federal park that is looking for new members and/or can suggest ways I can find that type of place to work so that I have survival chance? I figure that most likely, noone would be able to help that much but knowing what I do about FR, I figured might as well ask just for the heck of it if nothing else since my options otherwise are highly limited.

I agree moving south won’t save you from what’s going to happen here.Head further south, outside the US. Have an alternative plan plus they let you keep your money and it doesn’t all go to bloated govt. and to take care of the grubbers.

As to rain in Texas, it may depend upon what regional accent you may have...

but wherever one is, it can be a redneck Riviera Paradise without even going East to the Deep South.

Mustang Island use to be some fun. Haven't been there in more than 30 years, though...

I am in the DFW area and we haven’t had much rain at all...although it was supposed to for the last 4 days...think it might have on one of them. :)

Hey, I’m out of here most of the time, I just went South, not east and it’s not a Communist country. I just wondered why China? Seems a very odd choice for a conservative.

“But you associate with Wendy Davis...? And apparently think well enough of illegal immigrants that you’ve dubbed them worthy of in-state tuition.”

Not me. I don’t associate with Liberals such as Wendy Davis, or their damned ideas. I’m an unapologetic hardcore conservative and you’re barking up the wrong tree.

If a country wants to move towards a more free market society and needs some guidance, why say no, even if that country is China? Besides after Hillary becomes President, China will become the world’s number one economy. I like to be where the money is, since that’s where the opportunities are. You think Obama is bad, just wait til Hildabeast comes to the White House. She’ll make Chairman Mao look like a sissy boy.

OK, can we forget Texas for a moment and help me out as well?

I’m retiring in 3.5 years and am going to move to NC, SC, GA or the panhandle of FL to get out of New Hampshire in the winter. I need to be within 30 miles of the coast for my lady, Nurse Christine. I’m considering Wilmington, NC, Muriel’s Inlet SC, Beaufort, SC, somewhere around Savannah, GA and the vicinity of Panama City or Pensacola, FL.

Opinions and suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you to those who reply.

Only a Kali Kreep would think they have to have comfort and support like a woman’s bosom from a State to feel loved. Odds are you are a pathetic creep with a terribly narcissistic personality disorder that is about as fun to be around as a cold rock.

As though Chicago is a warm and friendly place. I’ve never known anyone going to Chicago but plenty that left there.

At least in Texas people have a fighting chance against criminals shooting at them.

My point is, you use the word "WE" as referring to Texans. "WE don't associate with your kind." But there are enough Texans that find Wendy Davis appealing enough to vote for her. Are those people covered by your all-Texan encompassing "WE?"

Its generally not advisable to use the word "WE" to refer to a large, non-controlled group.

What does 8 years of Hillary have to do with what I asked? I don’t question why you left, I totally get that. I just questioned, why China when there are so many better places to go.

Look up International House of Prayer in Kansas. I know it is not south south, but it is a 24/7 open Christian prayer community.

I’m impressed. You know how to read and write.’ So when there ain’t no lectricty to play solitare on the puter what skills do you have that are actually helpful. Carpentry? animal husbandry? Vet or doctor skills? welding? farming?

Don’t think nobody will appreciate watching you setting around patting yourself on the back saying how good you is.

Excuse me?
Is your post intended for me?
I farm.
That means I am a chemist, horticulturalist, botanist, meteorologist, amature vet, entomolgist, business woman, have all knowledge of building construction (most farmers do their own plumbing, carpentry, etc. but I have to hire helpers for the heavy stuff because I am a small woman), soil scientist, And I can do the dainty stuff like sew, can peaches and tend bees. Listen to Paul Harvey, So God Made A Farmer. He describes us well.
