The same computers that host the Obamacare website also pick Ohio State over Auburn.....
one man's opinion...

Posted on 12/02/2013 5:24:03 PM PST by ken5050

In 1985, the Oct-Dec 1985 edition of the Journal of Automatic Chemistry ran an editorial "To err is human, it really takes a computer to foul things up" It's well worth reading. It's prophetic in many ways. It reflects on GIGO (garbage in, garbage out) which has all but disappeared from the vernacular. It ends with the warning that "anything less (than appropriate quality control procedures) carries the potential for disaster."

TOPICS: Chit/Chat
KEYWORDS:
Well, it almost 30 years later, and those prophetic words have come true. Or, in cruder parlance, "the excrement has hit the fan."

The same bad computers that have tormented millions of Americans for two months with incessant failures and error messages on the Obamacare websites have now committed the ultimate act of heresy, and succeeded in enraging some 80 million fans of SEC football: They refuse to rank Auburn over Ohio State in the BCS poll.

The average smart phone has MORE computing power than the Apollo capsule that landed Americans on the moon more than 40 years ago. And what has that gotten us? Well, Anthony Weiner for one thing...

We can now text, Tweet, Vine, Facebook, tumblr, flickr, and gawd knows what else. But we can't get anything right. We're educating (if we can even use that word here) our children to be idiots.. The message, the content is all important. Accuracy counts for nothing...( see Politico, msnbc.com, dailyKos, HuffoPo, WaPo, NYT, etc.)

The Obamacare website MAY be fully functional sometime in 2107, but the BCS computers have ONE chance left next week to get it right, or all heck is gonna break loose.

Has Auburn won 25 games in a row? (no)
Are they undefeated? (no)
Will they beat Missouri? (nO)
Then shut up!

Must be using a “TI-99” and spliced cassettes.

No horse in this race, but OSU should be worried about Sparty.

Auburn lost to 17th ranked three-time loser LSU. Ohio State is undefeated. And has played a tougher schedule than undefeated ACC creampuff #1 FSU. That is all.

They will be. But Auburn has to play the best team of them all, Mizzou. They may well be a two time loser after their next game.

It ain’t the computer it is the programmer at the keys. And the programmer can only write code that fits whatever specs were given ( you know make it look pretty and collect data )

Bring your boys down to play a night game in Death Valley. There’s no stadium in the Big 10 to compare. For that matter, Jordan-Hare, Bryant-Denny, Williams-Brice, The Swamp. OSU would fold in all those venues.

Like Auburn hasn’t been living on miracles the past 2 games (a fluke play by a 4 loss Georgia team where the defender instead of knocking the ball down tipped it into the air so the receiver could catch it and run into the end zone to win the game), and of course “the return” as it will now live in infamy for Tide fans.

We still have one week left. FSU is playing a joke of a team...like they have all year.

auburn and OSU have two tough games ahead. We may find they both lose and then what? Does Alabama go or Mizzou?

1 point underdog to the team many SEC fans are calling to be in the BCS Final...

And don’t forget, LSU lost to 4 loss Georgia which struggled against North Texas state at home and needed double OT to beat a mediocre GA Tech team.

“No horse in this race, but OSU should be worried about Sparty.”

Definitely. MSU has reached up and bit OSU more than once.

Yep, the Spartans have been spoilers several times for OSU.
I’m a huge OSU fan, and am taking nothing for granted! They almost lost to Michigan this past Saturday - it was a nail biter right down to the wire. Too close for comfort. Our defense needs to get their heads out of their butts.

True. MSU has a great defense. One that would shutdown any SEC team, so OSU can’t rely on just the offense this week.

Enough with the FSU bashing. Easy schedule? Sure.

Thing is, FSU blew out every team they played this year.

That includes the then third ranked Clemson Tigers on their home field.

FSU is the best team in the country this year. With their loss to Auburn, Alabama saved themselves from being the 14th team to be blown out by FSU this year.
