Push of a Button: This Is How Fast the Entire Banking System Can Be Locked Down
Freedom Outpost ^ | December 25, 2013 | Mac Slavo

Late last week it was learned that some 40 million charge cards were obtained using physical processing systems located in Target retail locations nationwide. Though no details of the how the hack attack was executed have been released by Target, the FBI or other agencies investigating the breach, it is likely that the processing machines themselves were compromised. Target claims that the hack was sophisticated, but on the technical side, once hackers found a way into the credit card processing machines, probably via remote entry from servers somewhere in Eastern Europe or Russia, the theft of credit card data itself would have been fairly straight forward by using scripts or applications that simply capture the data and send it off to servers owned by the hackers.

This was probably one of the largest credit card thefts in history, though it is not at all surprising. Two years ago we noted that cyber attacks would soon be targeting America’s e-commerce systems and just a few months ago it was noted that rogue terrorist groups were specifically working on sabotage operation to bring down the U.S. economy. While this latest attack on Target stores and their customers fell far short of crashing our economy or financial system, it proves, as did recent breaches of Pentagon military networks, that even the most highly secured systems in the world can be compromised.

Furthermore, what this attack highlights is that with the right type of “event” the economy and financial system of the United States can be shut down… almost instantly.

Ehrmmm... no one HAS been incarcerated yet, true? I mean, I seem to recall both Steponallophous and BeGallya are still pandering about, are they not?

Yes, as far as I know, they are both still at large.

OS — Curious what your concern is with regard to H1N1. Typically H1N1 ‘flu’ is the typical or novo human influenza making the rounds every year.

H5N1 with a human-to-human vector would be the gravest concern. THAT would truly be a “duct-tape-the-house-for-90-days” scenario.

Why so worried about H1N1? (just askin’)

This is what happens in a cashless society. The electricity goes off and we’re screwed. And if you admit you got cash stashed away, remember, they’re listening and watching.

I used to have cash (and firearms) until that boating accident on the lake.

Rouge terrorist groups don’t have to bother working to bring down the USA economy.

Rouge terrorists? Like this guy?

The Obamacare sign up site is apparently verifying your identity through the Equifax system. My father has followed Dave Ramsey’s principles for years, with no debt after the mortgage was paid off decades ago.
He couldn’t sign up because his credit report was blank, -—. No credit history for his SSN, so no proof he’s a person. He actually tried to sign up and failed because of this.
So the refusal to have a credit card and use mostly cash to protect from identity theft and avoid debt meant he couldn’t sign up on the exchanges.

The most interesting part of this is that Soro’s JPMorgan keeps making it into these hack jobs. Nothing to see. Move along.

There was another death to H1N1 in Austin last week. Again, that person was “otherwise healthy and under 65” so this thing is hitting healthy adults. Of course, it might be that that’s the demographic who is around the public more. I’ve warned our college kiddos to stay away from sick people and keep their hands washed. It’s going to get spread everywhere as people bring the ick back from the holidays.

Glad sis is getting aboard.

And if you admit you got cash stashed away, remember, they’re listening and watching.

Unfortunately I lost it all in the same boating accident that took my guns.

I’m not t0o worried about the feds knowing I have a legal gun. It’s a squirrel assault rifle.

As stupid as they are (and BATFE employees tend to have a mix of stupid and evil or they would not accept a job enforcing useless and harmful laws), I assume FedGov can figure out what I have purchased through FFL dealers since my interest in target shooting spiked a few years ago. While they are not permitted to use the ATF Form 4473 for that purpose, I don't trust them on that point any more than I trust their boss on any issue. They likely know what I have purchased new in the past five years, although there are no records for any face-to-face private sales that may have occurred if I lost interest in those firearms (and I NEVER keep records on private sales). I just enjoy the "boating accident" comments.

I assume they can also easily find out what ammo I have purchased online, which is a clue to what calibers I own or at least recently owned (except when I am buying for resale or for friends). I used to avoid buying online, because I hate to pay shipping on lead, but that is now the only reliable source of ammo. I go through a lot of ammo even with most of my practice being dry fire.

Blueflag:

Thus far, I have now heard of four fatalities connected to this H1N1 outbreak. Two in Houston, one in Ft. Worth, and one in St. Petersburg, FL (a little too close to home). One source this morning that I read is alluding to under-reporting of this, that there might be more connected deaths.

I’m looking at it from the view of this can affect people whose immune systems are already compromised. Just this month, The Bride and I were both quite ill from upper-respiratory junk, but The Bride was presenting flu symptoms.

GENERAL FOR THE THREAD: if anyone knows where we can get up-to-date data on the outbreak, please link me, and thanks in advance.

“There was another death to H1N1 in Austin last week. Again, that person was “otherwise healthy and under 65” so this thing is hitting healthy adults.”

The deaths in our county were talked about on Fox News this morning. They didn't give the county name but said four deaths due to H1N1 in Texas. They didn't mention the one in Fort Worth or the one in Austin. They had a doctor on there and she said this is the beginning of the flu season, so I expect this strain to spread. The four in my county were between the ages of early 40s to 64. This H1N1 strain is killing people fairly fast. There were eight in my county and the last info. I had on that is the four alive were very sick in the hospital.

The doc on Fox said the most likely place to get it is to touch something a sick person touched because the virus stays alive for a while. Go to the grocery and put your hands on the shopping cart bar to push the cart. Touch a counter a sick person has touched. Take hold of a door knob.

My documentary making son in London is leaving for China near the end of January. I spoke with him yesterday and urged him to take hand sanitizer and wash his hands often and keep them away from his mouth, nose, and eyes. Most flus start in China and he is going there to stay eight days.

If H1N1 gets to your town, take every precaution you can and take the vaccine shot now if you can take the shot.

Laz, there is only one of you and we don't want to lose you, so get the shot if you can. You won't be “so screwed” if you get the shot. :o)

“Two in Houston”

Your source for two likely meant my county. When I heard it on Fox this morning, they said four so the CDC tests must have shown the other two who died here, did die of that. The other four in the hospital here must still be alive.

If you go to the CDC website, they will have up to date numbers and I haven’t been there yet to see what they are reporting but I will do that today.
