No, forcing any person or group of people to remain in a union that they feel is abusing them is tyranny. Please explain how the Federal government, or any one else was 'abusing' anyone in 1860 when secession began.
What exactly was the abuse you speak of?

Hard to say how things would have developed, if there had been a different outcome.
However, I do believe that what Lincoln set in motion has contributed greatly to our current sad state of affairs, where states have little leeway and our rights are being eroded at a rapid rate.
