That's great. Paul was really effective in getting that message out, wasn't he? The first I (or pretty much anyone else) heard of anything related to the Tea Party was Santelli's rant...following which the movement exploded.

So...who gave rise to the Tea Party? The blathering, ineffective, uninspiring, mayonnaise-sandwich-on-white-bread pundits that do nothing but feed their own egos, or a man speaking with true conviction and passion, who inspired people to take action?

Rick Santelli gave rise to the Tea Party. We need more Santellis and a helluva lot less mayo sandwiches.

I hear ya

infiltration, and people refuse to see it or believe it or think it is that bad, but it is real

maybe, also, it is just the moral decline of the nation in general, that people who knew what was right, are abandoning it because they are worn down and want to feel inclusive with something that sounds ‘better’

Infiltration is the exact wording Libertarians use

This is one of those movies where if a person was offended by it or didn’t think it was funny...I know we wouldn’t be friends.

I agree. Rick Santelli had more to do with tea party movement as anyone else. I really like Trey and Matt’s stuff, but they are hardly conservative. More like hard core Libertarians.

I will be SO GLAD when he and Kernen leave CNBC and go over to Fox Business.

I doubt they leave. Fox still has a huge disadvantage on viewership numbers. Kernen might, but Santelli likes the limelight given to him. I wish they’d can Cramer and give Rick the hour in the evening.

Okay, tell yourself whatever you want to believe. I have been hanging out in Tea Party circles for several years (long before the speech you quote from 2009)...”Louisville Tea Party,” “Tea Party Patriots,” “United Kentucky Tea Party,” etc, etc. And I have never heard one person in those groups EVER mouth the words...let me scroll up and read his name again, because it is not common to me...Rick Santelli.

"let me scroll up and read his name again, because it is not common to me...Rick Santelli."

Wow...you are truly a unique individual. The one conservative who's never heard of Rick Santelli. OTOH, those other guys and organizations you mentioned must have been the real spark behind the Tea Party, because of all the huge Tea Party protests in 2007 and 2008, right? Oh yeah...there weren't any until 2009, after Rick Santelli lit the fire. Dr. Paul, is that you?

Please learn to read...I DID NOT say that I had never heard of him; simply said his name was not common to me. There is a big FreedomWorks event here in Louisville today. Why don’t you bring your ass here and ask some of the thousands here today who Rick Santelli is. I suppose you would be surprised at their lack of worship for the man. And yes, I attended Tea Party protests BEFORE Santelli’s speech. Just because YOU were not aware of them, doesn’t mean they didn’t happen. George W. Bush, is that you?
