A dear friend of ours has been hospitalized and had emergency surgery this morning.
The doctors removed the muscle of his right forearm and most of the tissue around his left hip. They say that he will not be able to use the fingers of his right hand and that he will not walk again.
They say the disease will remain in his system for up to six weeks, so his ordeal is far from over.
Please pray for him. He is a very, very good and kind man.
Our friend is a master electrician, and he is a young man.
UPDATE: This has to be brief because I’m in moving mega-crunch time.
Good news:
Jesse now has a picc and will be moving to the rehab floor soon.
Five of us visited him on Sunday and he is obviously feeling better and getting stronger since he was in the chair instead of the bed and he talked the whole time we were there! :-)
As I’ve written before, Jesse is one of the kindest people I know. This was illustrated by his telling us how grateful for everyone who is praying for him, and that he’s been praying for everyone who’s praying for him! So, all of you who are keeping Jesse in your prayers have had extra prayers for yourselves!
Bad news: (which I will cut out when I get this newer part of the thread to Jesse)
The hip did have the flesh-eating bacteria in it, after all. Also, Jesse has developed a bed sore and the bacteria is there, also.
A friend managed to talk with a doctor who emphasized several times that Jesse is “very sick”. He has the bacteria in his blood and joints.
We all are still very concerned about him.
