Actually, Goldwater, who had a Jewish father and was brought up as a Christian, had many social contacts with Jewish people in Phoenix growing up, some of whom remained friends for life.

Yet, immediately following his Republican nomination for president in 1964, CBS TV totally concocted a smear story about him, announcing that neo-Nazi groups in Europe were celebrating for Barry Goldwater. Really, you can find an 1880s Jewish socialism push (in the US)? Eastern European Jews didn't arrive in the US in significant numbers until the first major pogrom in Russia in 1880. Earlier German Jews in the US were not particularly big on socialism. They were too busy racking up fortunes by being capitalists.

You do point out that Orthodox Jews tend to vote Republican. My favorite talk show hosts are Jewish, Michael Medved and Mark Levine, who I find to have a better understanding of world history and the Constitution than Limbaugh and Hannity.

Today conservative Christians seem to support the security of Israel more than Reform Jews. Would it be fair to refer to Reform Jews as JINOs? Like liberal “Christians” (see Trinity United “Church of Christ” in Chicago) who use their churches and synagogues for social activist leftist political purposes instead of houses of worship.

Then why doesn't that apply to Hispanics who switch from Catholic to Protestant? While not a switch of religions, it is a religious switch, and it largely overcomes culture.

Switching religions immerses one in the culture of the new congregation. The decision to switch also reflects a pre-existing change in viewpoint.
