Gringo is not a pejorative-it usually means one who is non-Hispanic. Pendejo is indeed a fighting word, and Martinez Fischer-the pendejo who used it-needs an ass kicking. And what other ass****s is he referring to with “y otros”?

We use it all the time to refer to someone non-Hispanic, not usually in a mean way-someone from New York who doesn’t know what a tamale is-he is a gringo, but so is an aboriginal Hawaiian-doesn’t matter what race or ethnic group he is-he just isn’t Latino/Hispanic.
