I’m a fan of many sports, and I’ve never considered whether my state as a fan depends on other people’s political inclinations. That appears to be your problem.

I don’t watch soccer, except I saw some of that Ghana/US game the other day. Seemed alright to me. I just was trying to say that I don’t understand letting the libs determine if you like something or not. I mean not liking soccer is fine, but I can’t see not liking it because of that.

I agree 100%. I’ve been VERY clear on that point. I like wine despite the fact that million of libs like it only because the French do, while Americans prefer beer. I only ask that we recognize that libs are promoting soccer because they hate America. You and/or I can still like it.
That’s tellin’ ‘em, Doc. I agree with your theory - it’s Rush Limbaugh’s as well, btw. Leftists are going to destroy football if we don’t watch it. I knew it the first time I saw a girl on tv (it’s always a girl) whining about concussions. And if this thread keeps up, you’re going to see at least one conservative come on here and whine about concussions. It’s amazing how our fellow conservatives buy into liberal shibboleths. So you have to fight it from all sides.
The NFL (along with college football) is one of the biggest ratings drivers for the tv networks which (surprise!) are mostly crony capitalist allies of the regime.
So don’t look for football to be going away anytime soon.

In an unscientific poll of my own among coworkers, all wanted the USA to win - but not a single one could name the coach or any player on the team. Increased interest in the silly game among actual Americans could not be confirmed.
As in art, movies, music, food — conflating sports purely with ideology/politics is ridiculous ... whether it’s Libs who only like soccer since it’s “international” or those who claim baseball is THE all-American game, love it b/c you do, WTF cares otherwise.

Over the past few decades, the Democratic Party has increasingly reflected a membership that is concentrated in urban areas, consisting primarily of wealthier whites along with working class and poorer minorities. Their reliance on these groups has gained in importance as they have been unable to address the needs of middle class Americans of all stripes. Republicans in this time have made gains among the middle class white population, frustrated by Progressive-liberal policies which have granted more powers to the Federal Government and favored larger corporations over small and independent business. The GOP has also made inroads among middle class and upper income Latino's who consider themselves Americans first and of Hispanic heritage second. While this group embraces soccer with great enthusiasm, the Republican-leaning Latinos are more likely to choose football, baseball or basketball as their sport of choice.
