WI: Employee Shoots, Kills Attempted Robber at Innovative Optique
Gun Watch ^ | 17 August, 2014 | Dean Weingarten

Innovative Optique is a high end eyewear store in a suburb north of Milwaukee.   From the reviews, it appears to cater to those who can afford high quality, customized glasses.    Last year, a thief stole a pair of $2,000 sunglasses.   Last Friday, an employee shot and killed a 22 year old during the  course of an attempted armed robbery.   From channel3000.com:

Police said the gunfire occurred during an attempted robbery. They said 22-year-old Joshua Drake of Milwaukee tried to rob the store about noon, and an armed employee shot and killed him. The employee wasn't hurt.
Wisconsin has an interesting part of its firearms law that grants immunity from lawsuit for acts of an armed employee, if the concern did not ban legally carried guns from its premises.  This legislation has been considered in several other states.     From Wis. Stat. § 175.60(21)(b), (c):

(b) A person that does not prohibit an individual from carrying a concealed weapon on property that the person owns or occupies is immune from any liability arising from its decision.

It seems unlikely that the family of the attempted robber will be able successfully sue in this case.

Moe Green's glasses?

lol...that is what I thought of too when I first read Klemper's post.

But of course we are talking about M. Brown not M. Green!

“She wants a Mercedes or BMW (and yes, affording them is not a problem), but we stick to Toyotas and Hondas. “

You can buy a 7 series a few years old with low mileage for comparatively little money. But I see no reason to. If the reason is to look cool, it won’t impress other BMW owners as they know what they’re worth. You have to ask, who is she trying to impress? That’s the only reason to have a status anything. (It’s out culture’s equivalent of a bone through the nose. Gosh, don’t it make me look pretty?)

I get my prescription trifocals with light sensitive lenses from Sam’s @ $300 a pair. Great glasses & no need to spent any more.

The late Joshua Drake. Drake's father and life-long friend said they hope his life serves as a reminder that chosing a life of crime can have bad consequences. His father said Drake left his home 9 months ago because his father wanted him to get a job or go to school. His father says since his late teens he was starting to stray in a bad direction.

You’re a better man than me. I’d scratch or otherwise break them. I only buy single vision prescription glasses from the Chinese. They’re cheap and good (start at $6, and they take whatever prescription numbers I give them). I almost think that’s where Sam’s also gets theirs (at least the simple ones) as the shipping time is almost identical between both sources (I used to use Sam’s).

His father says since his late teens he was starting to stray in a bad direction.

If only he had a pair of $2000 sunglasses like Jay-Z and P. Diddy wear. Frames like those would've certainly given him the self-esteem he needed to turn his life around.

Poor neighborhoods were the best pay-phone sites.

The cops tried on many occasions to have them removed as they said drug dealers used them.

But now, the government is giving away phones for free.

Another business completely wiped out by the government freebies.

That is definitely the 'textbook daffyinition' of Irony -- or at least unbelievability.

Here you go. I like Zenni the best, but both work. There are several others out there.

http://www.eyebuydirect.com/
http://www.zennioptical.com/u6.95-glasses/

The Zenni ones are their $6.95 glasses - go to their home page to get to the rest, they seem to have hundreds to choose from. They also do go fancy, and they’re fine too, I just don’t use them.

The tricky number to get is Pupilary Distance, it often is not on a prescription (that’s why they have you look into the thingie in the eyeglass shop, where they measure it), but it will be order form for earlier glasses, and may be on a detailed receipt. Otherwise you have to ask for it, or measure yourself. One of those “inside things” done in the business to protect themselves against outsiders.

I’m actually a worse man since I need the trifocals to focus at all distances and am lazy; hence, the light sensitive lenses.

“I’m actually a worse man...”

LOL...if you’re judge yourself by the lens composition of your glasses, you seen some “perspective training”.
