Tempe, AZ: Luis has been in deportation proceedings as a result of a minor traffic incident. On July 7, 2014, his attorney submitted a request for a stay of removal to keep Luis in the United States with his wife and children, but that request has been denied by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), despite matching the agency’s own “low priority” criteria for removal. He now lives under the threat of immediate deportation. At a press conference at 9:30am, Rev. Eric O. Ledermann will discuss his congregation’s call to stand with and support the Lopez-Acabal family so that they may remain together. Luis Lopez’s attorney Ray A. Ybarra Maldonado will provide background on Mr. Lopez-Acabal’s immigration case and the political implications of ICE’s unwillingness to allow Mr. Lopez-Acabal a stay of removal. Luis Lopez-Acabal and his wife Mayra Canales, will offer personal testimony about their circumstances.

At 6:30 PM faith leaders and community advocates will gather to welcome Luis Lopez into Sanctuary at University Presbyterian Church. This is the third church in the last 3 months to open their doors to protect a family under threat of deportation and separation—Rosa Robles Loreto is currently in sanctuary at Southside Presbyterian Church in Tucson, Arizona. Supporters and advocacy organizations are calling on Jon Gurule, the Acting Field Office Director for Enforcement and Removal Operations, Arizona Immigration and Customs Enforcement, to use his discretion to issue a stay of deportation or enact other means to halt Lopez-Acabal’s deportation. Until that time, Luis Lopez will remain in sanctuary at University Presbyterian Church.

Luis Lopez-Acabal fled to the United States from Guatemala as an unaccompanied minor at the age of 16 to escape gang violence, and has been in the US for seven years.

( Mesa man seeks sanctuary at University Presbyterian Church Community calls for DHS to halt deportation of Luis Lopez-Acabal )

Why do these churches think they can pick and select what laws to follow and what ones they can ignore and invoke welcome the stranger to justify it. Does the church give it's blessings to Lopez-Acabal to be out on our roads driving without license/insurance ? It did not say if he paid to fix the car he hit or paid any fines. Is his wife the most qualified person to look after child with autism, when she herself struggle's with depression and anxiety for many years ?At what point does the church think the laws should apply to Lopez-Acabal ? Is he using fraudulent documents to have employment ? Does he a have fake or stolen SS# ?? Does he get paid in cash or check but in another name ?? It seems the church is saying family trumps the very teachings of right and wrong ? Is the church saying it's ok to be dishonest and it's ok to break many laws as need be to remain in this country for family trumps the bible ?

“fled to the United States from Guatemala as an unaccompanied minor at the age of 16 to escape gang violence”.

Bulls***. If you were actually fleeing violence of any kind in any country, wouldn’t just getting over the border into the next country be the objective, rather than risking life and limb to go a few thousand extra miles to cross still another border illegally?

No, he's being deported because he's in this country illegally.

RE :”No immigrants got teased or scared in that posting..”

Luis says you did, and he said that we all like them once.

Didn't he tell us that Obama would have made that order by now?

Even the crooked Guatemalan president absconded to the US w/ the country's foreign aid money---just here for a better life---to do some money laundering (cackle).

Former Guatemala Prez used US banks to launder millions (elected to "redistribute" nation's wealth)

An ex-president of Guatemala faced charges in NY that he used US banks to launder millions looted from his impoverished nation. Alfonso Portillo took office in 2000 pledging to redistribute Guatemala’s wealth.

Portillo, 61, allegedly ran scams to drain the impoverished country's coffers. The feds say Portillo embezzled about $2.5M provided by the Taiwanese embassy....$1.5 million was earmarked for “Libraries for Peace”....books for school kids.

Portillo personally endorsed three, $500,000 checks issued against an account at the Intl Bank of China in Manhattan, then deposited the cash in the Miami bank account of a Guatemalan bank controlled by “a close associate and political supporter” .....the money was funneled to bank accounts in Paris in the names of Portillo’s ex-wife and daughter.

Portillo swindled nearly $4M defense funds ...and plundered the national bank run by his alleged co-conspirator through overdrafts financed by public reserves -- stolen money paid for expensive watches and cars, for himself and his associates, according to the indictment. (NY POST 5/28/13)

How many identities does Lopez-Acabal and his family have?

How many US govt checks is he and his family cashing?

The wife claims depression---that's a signal she prolly gets SSI checks.

Did the family vote illegally using false identities?

Does he have a legal driver's license? Auto insurance?

Did he falsify job apps?

Did he use fake or stolen SS nos?

Did he falsify US govt forms (a felony)?

How many children does he claim---including ones he claims he left back home---on EITC refund forms?

===============================================

NOTE: In every US court of law, a lie is deemed an admission of guilt.

================================================

Lopez’s attorney Ray A.

====================================================

Lawyers are sworn officer of the court---they should know that US courts do not dispense justice to litigants w/ "unclean hands" (a legal term meaning those who have committee crimes).

============================================

The state's legal oversight agency needs to be notified about a lawyer's activities that reflect on his ability to practice law, actions that could remove his license to practice.

Right——let’s get the ball rolling-—you never know what’s gonna crawl out from under that rock.

This guy could be a member of extremist latino organizations advocating the overthrow of the US govt.
