The last time I went to Kohls was about 5 years ago
There was one register open.
The clerk asked the woman at the front of the line if she would like to apply for a charge account and the woman said she would like one.
We all then had to wait in line while the woman filled in an application form. Astonishing.
I never returned.

That kind of thing should never be done at a register. She should have been referred to the customer service desk.
