Colin has said some good things about Rush too - but to be sure, Colin is very much swayed by cool - almost childishly. Yet he does reach some logical conclusions - such as the fact that teams in low tax and no tax states have a great advantage in signing free agents - and that if a full ride football scholarship is the best life option an 18 year old - then it cannot possibly be exploitation. He also is a big believer in marriage and kids.
Now to be sure, he doesn’t recognize these conclusions as logical conservatism - because he’s bought into the media template of what conservatives are. He is closer to a conservative than he knows, and closer than more on ESPN are - but culturally he is liberal.
Marie, come on, grow up. Yes his analogy was flawed - but it was not some far left anti military rant that some have characterized it.
Sorry for bothering you with the proper context. I guess it’s easier to have opinions regardless of context.
Dear Colin, I’ll be polite. So excuse me, but go eff yourself!
To add, Cowherd is not one to be concerned with “income inequality”. He has stated on more than one occasion that those who make a lot of money do so because they are smarter and work harder than those who don’t. That would horrify all Liberals. The one thing that I would conclude about Colin Cowherd is that he is not boring. Unlike most sports hosts, he does not get lost in the X’s and O’s.
ESPN has put together the biggest collection of D-bags in broadcasting.
What’s appalling is that whenever one of the D-bags transgresses (e.g., Bill Simmons, Steven A. Smith, etc.) they never report it on any of their programs - total hypocrites.
Interesting points. I listen to him some in the car, in his first hour, which does not compete with Rush. My main interest is listening to see if he ever has an epiphany.
He’s culturally liberal, and steeped into the foodie wino night life of the big city type scene - but he’s logical economically and comes to a good number of conservative conclusions. He doesn’t recognize it though, yet. Maybe one day he will.
I would have signed up at 17 but my parents wouldn’t have it. At 18 I was on my way to MCRD San Diego! I too had no bills.
there is no shame in that........
so Coward Blowhard is sort of right....financial reasons are a big part of joining up nowadays....
BUT there is a special pride in joining because you know you're doing something good, you're improving yourself and improving your future....as opposed to the lazy asses who just sit around, take meaningless college courses, and listen to espn all day long....
Nope. I served because my forefathers had served, going back to the 17th Century or before. I had been accepted to some good colleges or I could have found a decent job. I didn’t need to join.
