Is there a price to pay for summarily killing a man, or is it just what happens in Ferguson when one man has a badge and the other too much melanin?
In September 1955, an all-white jury took just 67 minutes to acquit Emmett Till’s killers. Till, 14, said either “Bye, baby” or wolf-whistled at a white woman in a grocery store in Mississippi. Three days later his body was fished out of the Tallahatchie river with a bullet in his skull, an eye gouged out and his forehead crushed on one side. “If we hadn’t stopped to drink pop,” said one juror, “it wouldn’t have taken that long.”
In 2014, racism is more sophisticated but no less deadly. The grand jury investigating the killing of Michael Brown is taking its time. Brown, 18, was unarmed when he was fatally shot by police officer Darren Wilson in the St Louis suburb of Ferguson, Missouri, in August. Wilson has been suspended on full pay and has not been charged. The four-month period that a panel usually convenes for expired last month. The judge gave the grand jury 60 more days to make a decision, so it has until January 7 to decide whether to indict Wilson. That’s a lot of pop.
Clearly the hope has been that passions would calm if the authorities put some time between the shooting and the verdict. But the opposite has happened. Ten days ago, the St Louis symphony was interrupted by protesters singing a requiem for Brown, which received support from some in the orchestra and the audience. At a St Louis Cardinals game earlier this week, protesters for Brown were heckled by Cardinals fans chanting, “Let’s Go Darren”. In Ferguson, a gathering of at least 30 demonstrators meet every night opposite the police station...

... And, if there is no basis to indict Darren Wilson, what then? Who then is the lynch mob, whites, or blacks?
Black live has exactly the value the ‘Black’ attaches to it. Just as White life has exactly the value the ‘White’ attaches to theirs.
When you attack an armed person, cop or not, you place the value of your life at Zero. Regardless of color. Thus, Brown was paid the full value of his life as he priced it. As did Sainted Trayvon. As did thousands of blacks. As have thousands of whites.

I am so sick and tired of the black victim-hood/entitlement society. If they look in the mirror, they would see the true cause of their problems, but they choose to blame whitey. If they took responsibility for their own actions, there probably wouldn’t be too many problems, but they refuse and the libs feed that line to them. They can call us all racists, but they will not like the outcome of “Cowboys and ferals”
While in the Air Force....I came to work with a guy who grew up in 1960s New Orleans. Bad environment, even then. Around age sixteen...his mom got an uncle who was in the Air Force to come and talk to him long and hard about going into the service. Around mid-70s....he joins and leaves New Orleans.
In the early 90s when we were chatting over this episode in his life, he admits that he occasionally goes back to New Orleans, and finds that almost all of the guys he grew up with....are either in prison, accustomed to weekly stays in the county jail, or making a marginal income at some local job. Half had a serious drug issue....most had serious drinking issues.
His outlook on life was that these couple of hours that the uncle spent on leaving New Orleans and joining the military....were well spent, and made him into the success he was. Military paid for his education....he had a two-year degree. He had an occupation that was going to pay off as he retired. He had no bills. And he had avoided the whole drug trail that existed in New Orleans.
This is virtually the only path left these days to escape the urban maze of dead-ends. If you stay....you end up a loser.
How can the author pretend to make a reasoned argument when he simply omits every inconvenient fact?
Michael Brown robbed a store and beat a police officer and was coming back to finish the job.
Vonderitt Myers Jr. Fired three shots at a police officer and was trying to clear his weapon to fire more.
Either of these will get you killed. Both of these young men are dead because they were stupid, not because they were black.
The author. Now, how did I figure that out in two nano seconds?
It’s a 50/50 shot. Either as shown or a self loathing White liberal trying to ‘check their privilege’.
For some reason, other races must put a high value on black life, while blacks actively show contempt they have for other races. Not just whites, either.
I think I despise them even more.

Oh I do as well. I also sleep well knowing that when the collapse hits, they will be the first peoples the ferals enslave, since they will run to them apologizing.

Most shopkeepers and employees are told to turn over the register and not confront a gunman. The exception comes when they are armed as well...and of course the policeman is armed, trained and usually wears a vest. So I believe they value their lives!
What farmer would hire one of these things to pick anything? I always gave farmers credit for horse sense. No way would most want this working for them.
They serve only one purpose. Cannon fodder for the liberal agenda. No self pride, no sense of self worth and a sense of entitlement that should get them awarded by Guinness for the world record.
I feel terrible for the decent people anywhere that have to live with this next to them. Black, white or otherwise.
