CITY OF HOUSTON DEMANDS PASTORS TURN OVER SERMONS. Yes, the MAYOR.

The city of Houston has issued subpoenas demanding a group of pastors turn over any sermons dealing with homosexuality, gender identity or Annise Parker, the city’s first openly lesbian mayor. And those ministers who fail to comply could be held in contempt of court.

“The city’s subpoena of sermons and other pastoral communications is both needless and unprecedented,” Alliance Defending Freedom attorney Christina Holcomb said in a statement. “The city council and its attorneys are engaging in an inquisition designed to stifle any critique of its actions.”

ADF, a nationally-known law firm specializing in religious liberty cases, is representing five Houston pastors. They filed a motion in Harris County court to stop the subpoenas arguing they are “overbroad, unduly burdensome, harassing, and vexatious...”

Jesus has a clue. I trust Him.

So do I...but I don't think He has hired you on to advise Him.

I don't listen to Joel Osteen and I think Parker is obnoxious. I think you would have a hard time proving there is any correlation between his "sermons" and her being elected mayor.

On the one hand, you accuse Osteen of NOT preaching the Bible and on the other, associate him with Parker because he isn't subpoenaed for NOT preaching the Bible.

Subpoenas are not for those NOT preaching the Bible.

You have a problem with the Apostles, not us. Because your theology is not from Paul, Peter, or John.

There you go again! Do you REALLY think the ONLY pastors in Houston "doing the right thing" are on the list?!

BTW, do you have the names of the pastors on the list?

Are we "Pharisees" for pointing out the truth?

Let me ask you, were the Pharisees telling the truth when they took the woman who was caught in the act of adultery and accused her to Jesus?

Here is the list of the only , according to you, pastors in Houston .who are "doing the right thing."

By your criteria, no priests are "doing the right thing."

As a part of its response to the suit—Woodfill et al v. Parker et al—city attorneys asked this week for sermons and other church communications from Dave Welch, the Houston Area Pastor’s Council’s president; Steve Riggle, pastor of evangelical megachurch Grace Community Church; Khan Huynh, pastor of a Vietnamese congregation; and Hernan Castano and Magda Hermida, both local pastors involved with the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference.

Your only interest about this seems to be to have an excuse to attack Joel Osteen.

That’s strange. The “theology” I gave you in post #60 is from Hebrews 6:1, 8:12, 10:17; Galatians 1:6; Luke 18:9; and John 8:3-11. With which of these scriptures do the apostles disagree?

***************

You hit the nail on the head. Not only is Joel Osteen not mentioned in the article
the poster changed the title to something else apparently and additional placed Osteen
indicators in her comments after the post.

This is about an Organization(s) of ministers in the Houston area and their fight
about the Houston Equal Rights Ordinance recently adopted by the City of Houston.
Osteen may belong to the group, we don't know but he damn sure isn't mentioned
in the article or as a member of the five ministers being targeted.

Someone apparently has a fetish about Osteen and wants to do him in.
