Two of my favorite things about the 80’s in one graphic

Back to the Future is by far one of my all-time favorites. When I was in college I would play my (newly purchased) DVD's of the trilogy while I worked on my illustration projects. It helped me keep time on how long I was working on something. For a while I had it all practically memorized.

The 80s also represent the last time Rock and Roll music was worth listening to.

agreed, it was the late 80’s when the Grammy’s started worshipping rappers and rock and roll died along with the hundreds of phemoninal bands that played thru the 60’s, 70’s and early 80’s.

Was just thinking about the original movie the other day. 2015 is 30 years into the future from the movie, just as 1955 was 30 years into the past.

Which way is most different?

I don't remember much worth listening to in the 80s. Some of Springsteen's stuff wasn't bad, but he's become such a putz that I can't stand listening to it anymore. I guess that was back when U2 was pretty good too. Tom Petty did some good stuff. I remember the 80s being dominated by crappy hair bands.

80s rock that was decent...Pat Benatar...Joan Jett...The Cars...REM...Late Bob Seger stuff....

Much of the better stuff of that decade came from bands that only had a couple good songs like Tommy Tutone and The Greg Kihn Band. That is true of any decade though.

I am sure I could think of more if I hadn’t been focused more on building a library of classical, blues, Electronic, and Celtics music during the period.

On the other hand, it might be okay to condemn the Rock of that decade purely on the basis of Rick Astley saturation.

The 80s were the busiest, most hectic years of my entire life. Absolute madness.

(This has nothing to do with anything-—just wanted to post it. :-) .)

Which way is most different?

Technologically? I think the 50s were more removed from the 80s than the 80s from the 2010s.

The 80s saw the introduction of the PC, and from there, anything was possible.

Morally, and ethically?

I'd say the 80s are more removed from the 2010s than the 50s were from the 80s.

Freedom-wise? 80s and 50s way closer to each other than the 80s and 2010s.
