Maybe it's just me, though I do suspect other Freepers may feel the same way, but it seems like this is the most under-appreciated GOP victory of this election.
I loved her 2012 RNC speech, I love her story because it's quintessentially American.
Stories like hers - parents fleeing their home country (in this case, Haiti) for a better life - are what will restore American glory, because that type of leadership leads to an appreciation of what freedom and liberty actually means. It's no coincidence that such a path in life tends to lead people to the right politically.

What they will not mention is that Haitians are one of the poorest and least educated immigrant groups in America, and they vote overwhelmingly for Democrats.
Mia Love, as a Republican, could never win a Congressional election in Dade County, Florida.
But Curbelo, of Cuban ancestry can win Miami-Dade for U.S. House.
Some districts are just...lost...no?
Just think of the example she could set for all immigrants, while simultaneously vaporizing the ridiculous meme that the GOP doesn’t care about them.

He'd be lucky to get 25% of the vote in a Cuban District in New Jersey or New York.
There are two different groups of Cubans, for those who don't know.
The first group arrived in the 1960’s. They were the Cuban professional class and former business owners, and most of them traced their ancestry to Europe. They were massively Republican, but their children and grandchildren have moved slowly but surely toward the center.
The second group started arriving in the late 1970’s and is still arriving 35 years later. They were overwhelmingly Hispanic and African. And they vote overwhelmingly Democrat. Huge numbers of that group have moved to the New York City metro area, and they vote like it.
I believe Rep Curbelo’s Family is of the former Group, Patriots. His Family arrived in Cuba in the 1700’s, (King Phillip V) some went onto Start the City of San Antonio in 1730. He is an Isleno and Hidalgo.

Her father came to the US on a tourist visa and stayed, I believe claiming political asylum. Mia was born a year or two later. Except for the postulated political asylum angle, her story is the same as millions of Mexican anchor babies.
