In the '70s I was a law student living on Capitol Hill near Lincoln Park. Two blocks over some other law students were having a party one Saturday night. I don't recall, but the odds were they were from Georgetown Law School, which was also on Capitol Hill. The party was invaded by a few young thugs from the surrounding neighborhood, and after robbing their victims, the robbers made everyone strip naked and stand in line. Then, they shot three young men to death and left. That was one of three triple murders that occurred in the few surrounding blocks that year.
Pure evil is not a literary fiction; it's not even that exotic. It exists, and the sooner you accept that, the sooner your real education begins.
