Eric Garner protesters “shut down capitalism” because… capitalism!

When the protests over the grand jury decision in the case of Eric Garner broke out I was expecting them to take place around police stations. It was also expected that the marchers would take to streets and sidewalks in popular areas where the media could easily film them. But there are new targets in their sights, and as you might expect they shut down business at the Apple Store and Macy’s.

I’m sorry… what was that again?

Protesters staged a “die in” Friday night in an Apple store on Fifth Avenue and in Macy’s at Herald Square.

Hundreds of people angry over police treatment of African-American men crowded the street outside the Apple store, and some made their way through the store’s large glass doors…

Zandir Santos, 30, of Brooklyn, relished in the idea that protesters had disrupted life at an Apple store and a Macy’s in New York. The filmmaker said this is a pivotal time in American history and that police must change how they treat people.

“The CEO of Apple knows we shut his store down–that means capitalist America is going to take us seriously,” he said. “We are going to shake up your business and we want to hit you where it hurts. “

So you’re upset about race relations between police and the black community, so you are going to… shut down capitalism? Okay, then.

So who is this Zandir Santos? The media footprint is thin, but he appears to have a brand spanking new Twitter account which only had 15 tweets as of Saturday morning. And a majority of those seem to be attempts to promote a ten minute short film he produced created about Ferguson and published on You Tube.

But Zandir wasn’t the only one with a message to send. He was joined by Chernell Brown.

Chernell Brown lay down on the floor and encouraged other protesters to do the same in memory of Michael Brown, an unarmed 18-year-old black man who died after an altercation with a Ferguson, Mo., police officer in August. The move was symbolic of the four hours Brown lay on the ground after he died.

“This is our house,” shouted Brown, 25. “No more business as usual. Revolution is not comfortable.”

We’re seeing a repeating theme about sending a message to capitalist America. There was probably a time when that would have left me scratching my head since the local and city police aren’t generally seen as fat cats and robber barons. Then again, I’ve long since given up trying to suss out the rationale for some of these events. But seeing the assembly and tactics of the New York City crowd, combined with the messages on display here, I do have to wonder one thing. Are these just the dead enders from the Occupy movement finding a reason to dash back out into the streets and strike another blow against big business, this time using the death of Eric Garner and racial tension in general as a beard?

Protestor: "“Revolution is not comfortable.”

One wonders if this protestor can tell us if the revolution will be televised? ;-)

Danny Elfman put it best

Capitalism - Oingo Boingo

There’s nothing wrong with capitalism
There’s nothing wrong with free enterprise
Don’t try to make me feel guilty
I’m so tired of hearing you cry

There’s nothing wrong with making some profit
If you ask, I’ll say it’s just fine
There’s nothing wrong with wanting to live nice
So tired of hearing you whine

About the revolution, bringing down the rich
When was the last time you dug a ditch, baby

If it ain’t one thing, then it’s the other
Any cause that crosses your path
Your heart bleeds for anyone’s brother
I’ve got to tell you, you’re a pain in the ass

You criticize with plenty of vigor
You rationalize everything that you do
With catchy phrases and heavy quotations
And everybody is crazy but you

You’re just a middle class, socialist brat
From a suburban family and you never really had to work
And now you tell me that we’ve got to get back
To the struggling masses, whoever they are

You talk, talk, talk about suffering and pain
Your mouth is bigger than your entire brain
What the hell do you know about suffering and pain?

There’s nothing wrong with capitalism
There’s nothing wrong with free enterprise
Don’t try to make me feel guilty
I’m so tired of hearing you cry

This whole demonstration situation is nothing more than a technical problem.

The Cop World has to come up with a way to subdue obstreperous Negroes with long rap sheets without shooting them. Whatever happened to the nets thing, the sticky slime bombs, the Tasers? Furthermore, these trick gizmos should be aerially applied, perhaps from drones.

Michael Brown should have been encapsulated in a quick hardening foam that smells a bit like skunk and left to season in the sun for a few hours. Because of their interminable rap sheets, including juvie offenses, these feral types are already well known to the police (POLE-eese) and there should be facial recognition software linked to cop cams. Drones should Taser the bastards, or encapsulate them in foam and then they should be scooped up or netted by the Sanitation Department.

Look lower left in the foto posted. If that SOB hasn't a police record, I shall personally stand drinks for him and his entire family, both those born with benefit of clergy and without.

If I were living in the liberal utopia of NYC, I'd be buying online this year to avoid the thugs.

Meanwhile, I see NYPD is making a windfall of overtime - nice bonus for Christmas.

I’m simply waiting for someone to say what exactly they will do....once capitalism is finished off and ‘dead’.

The minute that you say you might be hungry and desire a Big Mac...where it come from? The instant that you get a desire for a beer...where it come from? The torn threads in the old jacket that you have...well....where will the replacement jacket come from? When you have that tangy taste in your taste buds for dill pickles...where will they come from? When you get a down-and-out feeling and need some Johnny Cash music to uplift you....where exactly will the song come from? When you need to get from San Jose to Midland....other than walking the whole way....how will you get there? When you need to impress a gal with a gift....how will you procure such a gift in a non-capitalist society?

To wipe out capitalism.....you’d have to terminate every single human on Earth. It’s that simple. Otherwise, we’d just regrow capitalism right back into place within twenty-four hours.

I don’t believe that’s true; the Dutch settled there because it was uninhabited, and then Bantu people migrated south along the western coast of Africa.

Eric Garner is not dead because he was a black man. He is dead because he was suspected of daring to sell a legal product without charging his customers an outrageously high cigarette sales tax the State demands. He died because in the eyes of the State, he questioned their authority to enforce tyrannical laws. The darkly ironic thing is, liberals are protesting the death of Eric Garner, but liberals are the reason Eric Garner is dead. Liberals are the ones who called for sales taxes of several dollars per pack on cigarettes. In fact, it was the Obama Administration that raised the federal sales tax from .39 cents per pack to $1.01 per pack. In New York City, where Mr. Garner was slain for not obeying the State, the total sales tax is $5.85 per pack. It wasn’t about “black”, it was about the green: Money the State wanted.

David Horowitz's pamphlet "Barack Obama's Rules for Revolution" contains a phrase that is appropriate here, "An SDS radical once wrote, 'the issue is never the issue. The issue is always the revolution.' "

The issue in these protests is not about racism or police brutality or Michael Brown or Eric Garner. The issue is the socialist revolution. To get rid of capitalism and impose socialism on America, a system, ironically, that has never succeeded in any country, anywhere in the world, ever. EVER. Talk about picking a LOSER.

The climate change crowd also use their argument about man-made climate changes destroying the earth to mask their true objective or goal, which is socialist revolution. Again, to dump capitalism in favor of a socialist state.

Those idiots who want Communism have absolutely NO idea what Communism is..send them to a true Communist country, live there for a week and see what life under Communist rule is really all about. What your seeing on the streets is all about the professors in college who taught these morons that Communism is “cool” they have no freakin idea what TRUE Communism is..they lie on the ground protesting Capitalism as they are taking selfies on their 700 dollar Apple iPhones..when I saw that I just had to laugh..they are blasting Capitalism while playing on their iPhones..they are morons, I actually pity them because one day when they are old and gray they will look back and realize they had been played for fools like Commie professors who also trash Capitalism as they earn 250,000+ salaries

We hate out of control government with a lot of laws for the police to enforce, so we are going to attack capitalism because we want a bigger, more centralized government!

Morons.

You can take credit too. I'm easy. :-)

Oh, the peons and useful idiots, including paid union people, anarchists and various sundry losers in our society, who these protest movement organizers use to gin up a crowd with, may think it is about the climate or about police brutality or about the war or whatever they are calling the protest for. But the real drivers of the movement behind the scenes just want to take the opportunity to not "let a good crisis go to waste". If they can twist these protests into a pretzel and come up with some convoluted rationale for it being capitalism's fault, they will do that. Never fails. They hate capitalism and support socialism to replace it in the US.

And I like to say, "Wash, Rinse and Repeat ad infinitum".
