In the days after the Charlie Hebdo attack in Paris and the thrilling response of the French people to the attempt to intimidate them, any number of media commentators have talked about ‘root causes’ of terrorism. They mention that Westerners have to reach out to tame the ‘angry young men’ who are the agents of the Jihad’s terrorism.

No we don’t.

Well, yes we should reach out to address the ‘root causes’ of terrorism and the hand we reach out should at least hold handcuffs… although Charlie Hebdo’s metaphorical bladder on a stick wasn’t such a bad idea either.

First off, anyone who wants to address the root causes of terrorism needs to be dissuaded from thinking that some sort of socio-economic engine drives terrorism; or that terrorism is really political at heart. While the practice of terrorism is as changeable and shifting as the dark arts in a Harry Potter novel, there is one immutable hard fact that has always been at its core: People commit terrorism because they want to.

The engine that drives Jihad is the Koran plus resources. Cut off the resources and the Koran is not enough. Resources fro Jihad must come from outside because Moslem societies cannot produce enough to support Jihad. The West and China supply the resources for Jihad by purchasing oil and giving Moslems foreign aid and allowing them to reside in western countries and send resources back to Jihadland.

Colonize the oil producing areas without compensation to the Moslems and give them nothing else. They will subside into apathetic peacefulness for a space of time. That is how it has worked for 13+ centuries. There is no reason it would be any different now.

We should reach out and tattoo Middle Eastern addresses on the foreheads of all the Moslems in America and ship them to those addresses forthwith.

The means by which France, or any other nation, could defeat the terrorists are obvious: to compel the majority of French Muslims to turn against the terrorists, the French authorities would have to make them fear the French state more than they fear the terrorists.
