I admit, I never even thought of the Dremel thing. Makes perfect sense! Thank you.

Well, I have the gas block and gas tube in, now working on the handguard.

I'm tempted to polish that stainless barrel to a mirror finish like I did with the slide on my Springfield XDm .45. What do you have for polishing? I have a buffer wheel on a motor that turns 3500 rpm (standard motor does 1725). It works great on aluminum with this green rouge I have. It does OK on stainless if it is not too rough to start.

It's a pretty rough surface on that barrel. I have a Dremel, and it shouldn't be that much of a surface to do. But it'll take time regardless.
BTW, I'm finished:
Just a little cleaning up and touching up, and a muzzle device and red dot before I test fire it.
I'll probably need a case, too.

Thanks.
I’m still not pleased with the alignment of the handguard. It’s canted a bit left, and not straight up and down in comparison with the gas tube and upper receiver.
I have a Wheeler Delta Ring tool, but it took a while to learn that I was using the dern thing wrong. I’ll probably have to take it off and try it again until I get it right.

It’ll probably be a couple of weeks yet. Maybe longer.
Tonight, I’m going to clean all of the grease spots off with alcohol and Q-Tips.

I’m guessing around $7-800.00
I saved all of my receipts, and have to add it all together later.

Not including the prices of all the tools I had to get.

I’m wondering if 100 guys got together and built one a piece and shared all the costs just how low the price could go. If you could 3D print the lower receiver, the rest is all stock parts and none requiring an FFL.

Actually, the receivers were in the mid-range as far as pricing. The bigger bucks were spent on the Faxon Firearms 18” barrel and Spikes Tactical BCG. MagPul stuff ain’t cheap, either.
THEN, of course, was the price of the road trip to Wyoming to get 30-round magazines.

Get a Milt Sparks custom holster. Worth the price. Worth the wait. I concur. I got a Milt Sparks Summer Special in 1977 while I was waiting for Armand Swenson to finish up a 1911A1 frame for mating with a Commander slide. I've still got it, and I still carry a Commander in it.
Great holsters.
