Harold Ekeh has a very tough decision to make.

The 18-year-old Long Islander has waited anxiously for weeks since sending off his college applications.

But he didn't expect this.

Harold has been accepted by every single one - including all eight Ivy League schools.

It comes a year after another high schooler from Long Island, Kwasi Enin, was met with the same news. He chose Yale....

It’s the culture, this kid was raised in a Christian environment, not incubated in the hood. Hip hop has poisoned the well for much of black America. Even many who have risen above it are poisoned intellectually. I hope the grievance industry continues to be resisted by this family.

You can’t tell by the picture. He’s black yes, but he and his parents are not African American. They are African African-American.

Push tongue into cheek and repeat after me.....

African African-American is better than American African-American.

This sound like a gimmick. My three kids were good students in high school and did well on ACT and SAT tests. All of them applied to several colleges including Ivy League in one case and Notre Dame in another. Both tend to look for the cream.

Every one was accepted, nay, recruited after every application.

Every one attacked science majors and succeeded in them for their baccalaureates and their masters and/or doctorate programs.

I thought my son was the most eloquent about this. He said it only proves we were good students...nothing else.

Well, isn't that one of the worse things about EEO, is that we always assume that a black person gets a job because of it, fairly or unfairly?

Not all of us do.

This is the injustice and tragedy of “affirmative action”- it immediately creates suspicion of the worth of the blacks that are truly deserving in the minds of most people including blacks themselves.

This young man by all account appears to be deserving. He credits his success to the values that his parents and religion have instilled in him...in addition to having innate cerebral qualities.

Still the fact that he got showered with all the acceptance letters is an indication of affirmative action at work. A white or asian student with the same qualifications I don’t believe would have received the same reaction.

Yup. you don’t have to look.
Remember this when your blond blue eyed kids pay full tuition. Which goes to give free tuition to specially privileged individuals.

When your kids score a 2270 on the SAT, they will get into a great school and win scholarships.

This is too funny!

He shaved his head, started going by his embarrassing middle name (Jojo) and joined the Black Student Association and was admitted to the same medical school that turned him down previously.

Nothing new there, when I lived in Africa in the late 60’s, Black Africans did not care for American Blacks back then.

Sadly, hat is where we are — when merit is in order we can’t extract it from AA.

And I am suspicious of a black doctor or lawyer the same way:did they make it b/c they they understood? Or from a thumb on the scale?

I now get it — this kid is a victim of AA more than a beneficiary.

He’s not African-American in the usual sense, he’s African as in Nigerian. Let’s hope he travels in Ebola free zones.

The Mandarin system in ancient China was a meritocracy, recruiting the brightest for the civil service, but look what happened. 100% of those selected were Asian. Where was the diversity?

After HS, I "entertained" the local Army Recruiter and took their placement tests and blew them away... I've always been in the 99th percentile with all those sort of standardized tests. The recruiter envisioned me fast tracked at translator school with an M.O.S. as a German translator only because I had been tutored in it during grade school and then had 3 years of it in HS.

The thing is... I hated German class I am awful at memorization of vocabulary.

Instead of the Army, I went to work for the railroad, learned mad skills doing everything related to railroading, saved all my money and put myself through Engineering School.
