LETTERS: Candidate Ted Cruz; oil and gas interests

Candidate Ted Cruz

A declared presidential candidate has a proven track record that supports his promises to honor the Constitution and his Christian faith.

He has the audacity to imagine smaller, less-intrusive government, healthcare between doctor and patient without government, a greatly simplified tax system with a flat tax, a strong military, our unabridged right to bear arms, a controlled southern border and education controlled by the states — not by the federal government or the United Nations.

These positions synchronize with those of George Washington, the remainder of our Founding Fathers and Ronald Reagan. How refreshing!

For these views and promises, Sen. Ted Cruz is labeled a “right-wing extremist” by Democrats and “unelectable” by “progressive Republicans” because he dared to lead attempts to stop unconstitutional edicts of a runaway, rogue executive branch.

Cruz is doing what he was elected to do — stop our out-of-control federal government! He stepped into the batter’s box and took a swing, while moderates cowered in the dugout!

— Jay Elliott, Benbrook

If Ted Cruz ever became president, it would be the biggest disaster to happen to the United States since the Twin Towers fell on 9-11!

He doesn’t want to reorganize the government; he wants to dismantle it.

And is he qualified to run for president since he was born in Canada? I know he renounced his Canadian citizenship, but that doesn’t eliminate the fact that he was not born a naturalized citizen, even though his mother was.

President Obama’s mother was a U.S. citizen, but that didn’t satisfy the tea party. Of course, I’m sure that Cruz’s “blind” followers will develop amnesia over this discrepancy involving Cruz.

— William W. Lee, Arlington[continued]

I know that Ted Cruz is scary smart, but who’d have thought that he could pull off such a neat trick as being born a naturalised citizen?

I think he misread his e-mailed talking points from OFA. Needs new glasses, I guess.

He pulled off a unique maneuver to become a naturalized citizen at only a few minutes old. What a guy!

Birfers drool.

But we already knew that, well before Cruz burst upon the scene.

He didn't.

Being a citizen by birth, he is therefore a Natural Born Citizen.

Canadian citizenship law with respect to Senator Cruz is irrelevant.

That’s what some folks just can’t grasp. If you didn’t have to go through the naturalization process to become a citizen, you are a natural born citizen. I don’t know why they have to make it complicated.

1. Because they really, really want to get Obama on related issues.
2. Because they have another candidate in mind for GOP Candidate for POTUS
3. Because they really believe or they really want it to be true, in spite of the evidence, that if you did not have 2 Citizen parents at birth or you were born outside the country, you aren't a natural-born citizen.

Doesn't make them right, but there you go!
