Sen. Ted Cruz, the Texas Republican who is running for president, plans to meet with the head of a national Latino organization who accused the lawmaker of distancing himself from his ethnic community.
Cruz is scheduled to meet on April 29 with Javier Palomarez, president and CEO of the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and hold a question-and-answer session in Washington D.C. before an audience of business leaders and journalists.
“The Hispanic Chamber is an important constituency,” said Rick Tyler, the national spokesman for the Cruz campaign. “We’re going to have a conversation, the host and the senator. They will talk about jobs, economic growth, national security,” and other “top issues on their agenda, and the interests of the [chamber’s] members.”
Palomarez, whose organization boasts relationships with lawmakers from both major political parties, said that the Cruz camp reached out to the chamber after news of his pointed criticism of the senator.
“Several entities within Ted Cruz’s [camp] reached out to us, they said they wanted to work with us,” said Palomarez. “We proposed a public platform.”
“It was not combative,” he noted. “They were pleasant and easy to work with.”(continued)

I worked in Reagan’s California campaigns.
He had few politicians with him, and trusted none of them with any power in his campaigns. Like Cruz, he was supported and coached by conservative business people.

I have no doubt whatsoever, that senator Cruz will handle the visit with aplomb. Just tell him to smile a lot, and do not look antagonistic to the gallery.

You know at this point, I would not predict who is going to get the nomination. In 2012, many were guaranteeing that it was going to be Gingrich and many thought Sarah was going to run. Nobody knows but regardless someone will end up our candidate and we will either win or get Hillary. That is really the bottom line.
That’s what he did with the libertarians. Went right to them, in a friendly way, said, “Ask me the hard questions. Don’t hold back.” THIS is the way to reach out!!! No pandering. Just honesty. Love me some Cruz!!!!!!!!!!
That is part of what the 'conventional wisdom' misses.
You assume that Hillary! will get the nomination. Lots of 'conventional wisdom' does. And I reject that premise because no-one besides God knows what will happen in that race.

I would LOVE to see Ted speak at an inner-city school and field questions from hostile students and teachers. Tell them what Democrap policies have done to them. He could really change some hearts. It would have the progressives scrambling like cockroaches when the light switch is turned on. They would have to expend all their energy on DEFENSE for a change.
Was Obama the Solicitor General for one of the largest states who successfully argued religious freedom questions before a liberal Supreme Court, and didn't spend his youth rabble-rousing?
Running an agency with over 4000 employees and 700 lawyers IS executive experience. He did that as Solicitor General.

Only to those who haven't taken the trouble to actually think past your false comparison.
Obama, a lightweight street agitator, has managed to push through and accomplish much of his agenda. He's running circles around career politicians. Cruz, on the other hand, has more experience and is a brilliant man. Imagine what he could accomplish as president.
As Rush Limbaugh said, it isn't the experience, or the lack of it, that matters---it's the ideology. Obama wouldn't be a better president if he had governed a state---he would still be a disaster.
Ted Cruz is a natural leader.
